Parts are pretty cheap for this car. A simple search on Rock Auto or even a VW parts website will show that. However I have put 25k on this car and outside of normal maintenance it has not needed a single repair.
My knowledge of diesels comes from the truck world, which several buddies of mine have had catastrophic issues with the emissions systems. I.e. putting their trucks in limp mode because it needs to Regen to burn off all the particulates. Anyway, have you ran into any problems like this with your Jetta? I recently found a 2015 golf sportswagen tdi 6 speed manual near me and that I want to pull the trigger on, especially after the test drive. But I am a little hesitant because of the emissions components that it has on it that mirror my buddies trucks. Would appreciate your two cents.
The emissions systems in these cars tend to be a lot more forgiving then the emissions systems in larger trucks based off of what I've seen. If you have issues you with emissions stuff, tons of companies sell delete kits (for off-road only use of course, wink wink).

That warranty was a big factor for me when buying my my 2015 tdi passat. If your trying to get the most out of that warranty, look for a car with the latest in service date as well as low milage. My car was never sold/registered untill july of 2017 and it only has 31k, so ive got just under 9 years 131k left of warranty that is guaranteed to cover everything in that document.
the new 2019 hyundai elantra eco gets over 40mpg, much cheaper to buy, much cheaper maintenance, and a very dependable car with a great warranty. and dont forget gasoline is much cheaper that diesel. also with all the engine killing smog crap and def fluid its just not worth it to own a diesel truck or car.
The Elantra also makes significantly less power and has less driving dynamics. However you are right, the cost of keeping the Hyundai on the road will be cheaper long term as compared to the VW. Depending on where you live in the US, diesel may be cheaper. Two different cars for two different types of people.
get a malone tune on it !!! sound like you know how to drive and you will get even better gas milage ! you wont even hear your engine the tune is so amazing !! tottally check it out dude I recommend stage 2 tune only go eazy on pedal since it will have so much torque it could get your clutch /dmf slippin but still do it !

Parts are pretty cheap for this car. A simple search on Rock Auto or even a VW parts website will show that. However I have put 25k on this car and outside of normal maintenance it has not needed a single repair.
@@FocusedGarage also, what about carbon buildup in the valves? And how much of a problem is it to replace the exhaust filtering systems?
The car has a very long warranty on emissions equipment since it is a TDI buyback vehicle. I have no worries about carbon build up.
I have a jetta TDI 2011, now with over 300. 000 miles and the only thing i have to change was the clucht. It is a really good car!!!
I own a 2011 jetta tdi, I missed the warranty by a less than 1000 miles and 3 weeks, and they told me to go kick rocks. Dealership wanted 4k+ to replace egr valve, dpf, 4 temp sensors, a.ong other things to completely fix the car. Otherwise car is un-drivable with the amount of soot in everything.
Wow that is rough. These modern emission systems are hell on everything.
Thank-you my friend.. I'm looking a Passat TDI right now...or a fusion hybrid.. I 70% diesel now..
TDI over hybrid.
@@FocusedGarage of course, cheap fuel economy
getting mine the 30th im excited
Awesome!
I have a 2014 Jetta Sportwagen and i love it and i get about 54 MPG
Best daily ever!!!
I love it the space and the fuel range is amazing and diesel is pretty cheap in my city
Diesel prices have been interesting here. I'm in Chicagoland suburbs and it's about 80 cents higher than gasoline.
It all depends on the gas station i found a gas station in Chicago they i pay 2.79 per gallon and by my job it’s 2.59 a gallon
That's literally what they call it, though.
The 2015 TDI is the first year for the DEF system, along with other new systems that will need service. The 2014 Jetta does not have any of that BS.
First and only year before VW axed the TDI's in the US.
I’m thinking about getting one or getting a Mini Cooper s
Stay away from the minis!!
Minis are not known for reliability at all!
I have a mini cooper s ...there straight race cars ..you have to be ready to do mechanical work on it and stay on it paying attention often
You need to get a mini repair book and bmw scanner and a few mini specific tools ..just beware .it is a race car point blank not a toy but fun
They're very fun cars, with very questionable track records.
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you still own your focus st
Mike doesn't but I still have my big turbo focus st
The horror of thinking someone would throw things at my vehicle just like that!
Throw what at your car? Lol
High pressure fuel pump/DSG/ Turbo nuff said
Something to watch for, absolutely.
The words you are looking for “rides like a Volkswagen”
That can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Lol
Great vid!
Thank you!
Great review
Thank you!
It's not written very clearly, but the entire engine is covered under that 11 year/162k warranty
Jason Dreckmann hi Jason how so?? Could you find official VW documentation I could have? I’m buying a 2015 VW Passat TDI with a warranty and this would be HUGE news for me!

Jason Dreckmann What are your thoughts on buying a 2015 TDI in 2019? | 15’ VW Passat TDI SEL 35,xxx - $16,450 (negotiated price from $17,300) Thoughts on deal? Overall maintained looking at CarFax
Old ALHs get even better mileage. I've beat 55mpg.
Yes, this is true.
Give us a 140k review update. Then talk to a Toyota corolla owner with the same mileage from the same year. Then you'll realize you got suckered.
Sorry, sold the car long before that.
Very true I debadged my tdi an especially since it's all black ppl now can't tell from looking bother im a GLI or not lol
Probably better off that way lol
Isaiah Davis there’s a very special place in jail for people like you...
Haha
the new 2019 hyundai elantra eco gets over 40mpg, much cheaper to buy, much cheaper maintenance, and a very dependable car with a great warranty. and dont forget gasoline is much cheaper that diesel. also with all the engine killing smog crap and def fluid its just not worth it to own a diesel truck or car.
The Elantra also makes significantly less power and has less driving dynamics. However you are right, the cost of keeping the Hyundai on the road will be cheaper long term as compared to the VW. Depending on where you live in the US, diesel may be cheaper. Two different cars for two different types of people.
You can't go over 500 miles with that hudai
450k on 2006 Jetta tdi
That is awesome!
TDI is the shit :D
Great cars!
Fuel economy not gas economy it a diesel not a gas
Just a habit.
get a malone tune on it !!! sound like you know how to drive and you will get even better gas milage ! you wont even hear your engine the tune is so amazing !! tottally check it out dude I recommend stage 2 tune only go eazy on pedal since it will have so much torque it could get your clutch /dmf slippin but still do it !
Always go back and forth about tuning it...lol
I had a 2012 Jetta (the one with no governor) first time I hit 160mph over I though something has to be wrong that cant be for real xD xD xD but i ended up doing it many many many times and started using GPS in phone to confirm my speed xD my top speed was 195 and you can only imagine way people in lamborginis/vipers/STi/EVO looked at me when I passed them with car that was daily driver xD 38-60mpg every day. Just a week ago I got my hand on 2015 passat allready got a stage 2 tune on it and slowly will work on personalizing that car but honesly I cannot emhasize it enought get the malone stage 2 Ive had this car only for couple of days without the tune and right after installing it I can tell car runs much smoother and quieter and expect for it to only get better as I stack up miles on it (my jetta had 326k miles when it got tottalled first engine/transmission 6mt)@@FocusedGarage
What size tire are you running and what kinda power levels are you running? If you GPS verified it we'd love to see a screen cap. Feel free to send it to our Facebook page!
myself I wish I had one !! car is totaled by now but couple of times ive seen people in lambo etc. recording as I flew past them at 160+mph speeds so hopefully one of those days I will find myself on youtube. @@FocusedGarage
it was just my daily commuter ! never took it for a dyno or anything just had the malone tune and I think i made screenshot at 180 or so one time (still had menagable grip so i could hold steering wheel with my knee and do screenshot on iphone) but from 185+ I had to have firm control of steering wheel I will trry to look thru my iphone backups and locate that picture @@FocusedGarage
