Last year I picked up a 2014 JSW tdi 6m CPO with 16,400 miles. Was fully loaded, moonroof, 17" alloys, premium sound with 6 disk changer and NO navigation. Don't waste your $$ on the nav, display too small. Has the factory roof rails. Bought a used OEM roof crossbars and cargo carrier. The 2014 has a traction control switch that can be toggled off. This vehicle does not require add blue either. 50mpg hwy all day long. Factory Continental's are horrible in the snow. Bought a set of 16" steelies with Blizzaks from Tirerack, $980. This is a must have upgrade for winter driving. Thanks for the video, very well done Sir.
I agree with everything you said -- positive and negative. I am retired and just returned from a 4,000 mile road trip to the civil war battlegrounds and my 6 speed TDI was just amazing -- performance, fuel economy, and driveability. As for the environment, there are more diesel 18 wheelers on the road now than I have ever seen before, pumping huge amounts of black exhaust. Please concern yourself with those before my little four cylinder, whitch with the exhaust scrubber system is really not that bad. Nobody will ever take this car from me!
Robert LaRey I agree with that! I really can’t think of a better car to take on a long trip. Enjoy it and drive it for as long as you can. Mine is going back to the dealer tomorrow. I’m going to miss it, but maybe I’ll get another one down the road. We’ll see!
FYI, according to the computer, I got as high as 59 MPG on my trip and averaged 43 according to my math. Since I have my car registered in a Texas county that does not require an emmissions test to get state inspected, I think it will be quite a while before the EPA or whomever finds a way to pressure me into the modification. I am having a aftermarket on/off switch for the ESC installed; even though we don't get much snow in Texas, I just like having the control. I'll be on the road for another three thousand mile trip in July to the Great Lakes.
Robert LaRey I Believe those mpg figures. And i would have that switch installed too if i were keeping it. Have a nice trip to the Great Lakes my friend!
I love my Jetta 2010 tdi, has 386000 or so km on it. I’m keeping it, going to ride it till it dies and it has its quirks, like the thermostats are always finicky and crap out early. You gotta clean the EGR with highway driving but that’s easy for my work commute, and after an upgraded hpfp I’ve been getting 52-54 mpg on stock steel rims with winter tires in the front and all season in the back. I love the sound of my car, I love that it’s a gem to be saved from the crushing lots, and most of all the aftermarket parts are becoming cheap and plentiful, but the occasional parts that need proper treatment have to be maintained (The new DPF is finicky with some models after the upgraded modifications from the scandal but they’re prone to cracking when reaching 270+lbs of torque) But you could always delete it( check your local laws) it may always a cel for some little thing but damned if it isn’t the best low rpm/high torque fun with that beautiful turbo whistle!

@@IIAztekII My warranty ended in April. Just found out because car has no power. Went to dealership and they said I have replace egr valves, mass flow sensor, all temp sensors, and a few other things, labor + parts was like 4k+. Just beware of this things accumulating around 120-150k miles. I have a 2011 gen1 tdi. So just check vw's site for recalls frequently.
I bought a 2011 diesel gate jetta sportwagen with 40k miles for 10k and I flipping love it.. Sold my tacoma for 30k, put 2k down on the tdi and my monthly payment went from 571.00 to 140.00.. My MPG's went from 14 to 36.. I drive aggressive!
Michael Utley you’re really making me want to go and get another one haha! I used to drive this one aggressively too and it still got great mileage. Miss that!
It's so sad these are the last. I'm on my 4th consecutive TDI in 20 years. 3 Golfs and now a 2011 Jetta Sportwagon. IMO they're the most maintenance free, fuel frugal, everyday practical, automotive bang for the buck available.
These are the last in the US. one of my landscape clients is an engineer for VW and he said the TDI will never be sold in North America again. They are going to electric.
I currently have a regular gas 2.5 Jetta but when that conks out I’m hoping to grab one of these with a manual. I actually don’t get great gas mileage for whatever reason
I replaced my 2001 Golf TDI in January with a CPO 2015 Golf TDI with the same engine as your Jetta. The market is flooded with these cars now, and great deals are all over the place. So far I really like the engine/6-speed manual in my Golf. Too bad about dieselgate, as VW's diesels are super excellent.
I bought the identical car used after the emissions fixes from a VW dealer in August 2017 with 38k miles. I've put almost 50k miles on it in about two and a half years of mostly highway driving. I also have a set of Blizzaks for winters here in Washington. Most of those miles were commuting to my job in Seattle from central Washington 115 miles each way over a 3000-foot mountain pass. I've owned 30+ vehicles over my driving years and few have exceeded my expectations in as many ways as my Jetta. I've consistently gotten 47-52 mpg. It has only had a couple of minor issues both of which I was able to fix myself (replacing a bad ambient temperature sensor and fixing broken shutters in front of the radiator from the previous owner having a minor front end collision). I've added a short-throw shift kit and driving lights. I don't make that killer commute anymore so I am hoping I can keep this car running for 20 years. There are very few contemporary cars that you can have that hope for these days and it looks we won't see the TDI again.
Ben Lanza I agree it’s a great car and the mileage is unreal. I don’t think you’ll have an issue keeping it for 20 years. How do you like the shifter? That’s something I always wanted to do to mine.
Great video. Just a couple comments. I had a 2013 Jetta TDI with the DSG. I turned it back in when VW offered me more money than I could reasonably refuse. And that was splitting the sorry money with the previous owner because I bought just a couple weeks after the scandal hit the presses (stick it to the man, ya know?). I've been test driving the Passat TDI's that are coming back on the market (I sometimes felt the Jetta was a bit small). I forgot how much I had to get used to the DSG. And the manual Passat I drove had way more turbo lag than I thought it should/maybe it's just too heavy of a car for the engine. So I'm in the market for a Jetta TDI with the manual again. Great cars. Put a tune on them (guys with the Malone or Kerma tunes are getting 170+ hp and 70 MPG). Remove the emissions junk (I'm from MT where we don't have emissions testing). And then just drive them for 300k. It almost doesn't make sense to buy anything else as a commuter. Just my opinion...
Lee McCready yeah i can’t think of a better car to commute in. If i get another one, I’ll get a tune and keep it for the long haul. Lmk what you end up buying!
I bought my 2015 TDI with the 6 speed manual about a month before dieselgate came out. I decided to keep mine and had the fix applied (both stages). I absolutely love mine. The fuel economy is absolutely amazing and it's fun to drive!
@@johnschulz899 I honestly can't tell a difference. I still get over 50 mpg on the highway and it doesn't feel any slower (although I've heard the ones with the DSG are a little different). VW said that DEF usage may go up but I haven't seen a difference there either. I would say one thing I've noticed is it's just a tiny bit louder but I'm ok with that lol.
I’m fairly certain the pre-‘15 Jettas have the CJAA 2.0. My girlfriend’s car is a 2013 TDI DSG and the car is wonderful to drive. I’ll personally fight like hell to keep it around.
I got a 2012 TDI 264,000 km's and love my TDI never had DPF issues i commute 45 minutes in the early morning to work and 1 1/2 to 2 hours back home in traffic. TDI's are solid vehicles.
We had a 2009 Sportwagen with 140k miles, did the buyback, and replaced it with an Alltrack. Later in 2017 when the embargo was lifted, VW offered a good deal to move the the 2015 TDIs that had been stuck on dealer lots ($5000 off, 0% interest, 100k warranty), so we got a 2015 Golf Sportwagen TDI. The 2015 gets unbelievably good mpg (45 avg, low 50s at 75 mph, maybe even 60s if you drive less than 70). We never got close to that with our 2009 TDI. Regarding no ability to turn off traction control, I initially thought that too, but reading the manual I learned VW moved the switch into the car stereo (surely to save money). We also have General Arctic Altimax snow tires and they work great. When I drive our Golf Sportwagen TDI there is a noticably diesely feel when compared to our Alltrack, which is the same car but uses gas. The feature that irritates me the most about the car is when you turn the temperature control to full blue it automatically turns on the A/C and recirc requiring you to turn it off. The second most irritating feature is keyless entry/push-button start. I don't like the way you can't tell how much DEF is left until it is low. It can be done with with a VAGCOM cable, but most owners done have that. The 6-speed manual and its features are the greatest part of the car.
Thank you for your reply! Sounds like you got yourself a great deal. I wish I knew that you can turn tcs off through the radio when I had the car. I too, wish that you could tell how much AdBlue Fluid is left in the tank. It does ding and tell you when it gets low though. I do miss this car, and the mileage. If I get another one, I'll be sure to make a video on it! Enjoy your car my friend :)
Bought my '15 in '17 after the software upgrades were done. I absolutely love this car so far after 45K miles. The engine performs great. The DSG is great except for the maintenance cost. But I accept the maintenance cost because it's such a great transmission. It gets far better fuel mileage than my motorcycles. I've gotten close to 60 mpg on trips. I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off.
We are doing the buyback for our 09 TDI and thinking of getting a low mileage 2015 TDI to replace it. We absolutely love our Mk5 TDI but it needs a ABS module $2000. Otherwise it’s been trouble free with 200k miles.
dealer lots are still littered with low mileage, cheap TDIs. about to pull the trigger on a CPO 15 TDI Golf 6m with 26,000 miles for $13k - this comes with the CPO warranty and the 126,000 mile emissions equipment warranty. incredible deals right now.
I have a 2014 Passat TDI and it doesn't have a traction control on/off button either, but there is a way to turn off the traction control on my car and it might work on yours. Follow this sequence: 1) power up the car but do not start the engine, 2) turn on the hazard lights, 3) press the gas peddle 5 times and you will see the traction control "off" icon on the dash, 4) start the car and you will now be driving without traction control. To go back to traction control "on", turn off the engine and then restart. The traction control will be reactivated. Give it a shot.
love my 1.6 TDI. Though the intense heat in India keeps me lil bit worried about it reliability but so far no faults since i bought it used at 70k at the odo, serviced it, and been using it since, approx 10k miles.
@@DriveItRyan Yeah, it's called the "ESC System". You press Car, then Menu, then ESC system, then deactivate. But, man, why did you get rid of that beauty? It's funny because in the video you basically say it's a perfect car, but then you go on to say that you are going to get rid of it. I don't understand that logic.
@@joniscroggins4962 it was purely for financial reasons. VW made an offer to buy it back that I simply could not turn down. I also cut my commute down significantly so I don't really need a TDI at this point in my life, but eventually I will pick up another one because I did love the car!
I just bought a 17,000 mile Jetta tdi SE 6 speed. It has all the fix's on it. I always wanted one and was kinda upset about not being able to get one after the scandal. Andrew Shvetsov the engines are still good for the 2014’s. Not to worry! Everything was revised for 2015 but the 2014’s are still great engines with more character than the newer ones 👍
Considering a 2013-4 Jetta TDI 6 manual...replacing my old 2000 Golf TDI 5speed. My brother convinced me of getting one every since he got a 2015 Golf TDI...
I have owned 3 TDIs and I am going to pick up another one this week. Great cars! I have never witnessed the fuel economy that so many others profess. 60 MPG-really?
I just bought a 2014 TDI Sportswagen 2.0l Twin turbo. It has had the exhaust work done and has a waranty until 2024 or 120,000 miles. I runs well but today I took it on the highway up to 65 -75 MPH and it has this "sheet metal ping/bang" noise coming out of the back. I'm guessing it's the exhaust. Any thoughts on what exactly is causing the noise?
I don't know where the 2015 models are assembled but I can tell you my 2011 tdi jetta from Mexico is a far cry from my 04 gti shipped over from Wolfsburg Austria.
I cannot wait to get back into one. I've been driving around a hatchback STI for years... Bought it new. Engine grenaded before no time. It's been nothing but a money pit they gets 200 miles per full tank of 93 octane fuel. So done
I know the feeling. I am now daily driving my 2007 WRX and it loves to drink gas. 255lph fuel pump and 750cc's probably doesn't help much lol but it makes good power and is fun to drive! Crossing my fingers that the engine holds together. Just have to keep a good eye on the oil levels, let it warm up, and never put too much load on the engine at low rpm's.
Bought mine new in Feb 2015 was ordered from me in Oct 2014......2015 Jetta SEL TDI Loaded with every option they paid me well over 7K to keep it and a great Warranty..... So we kept her 5 years old now and only 60k miles! Very rare car
Serious question, I just bought that exact car a few days ago and I’ve never had a diesel so idk what rpm I should be shifting at for optimum health of the car
That’s great news, I’ve been absolutely worried about it, cos the DPF hasn’t been perfected in big trucks yet and fails a lot. Thanks so much for the reply, 👊🏾✌🏾
Vw includes an 11 yr 180k mile warranty on all emissions related equipment. Including all motor related parts fuel pump, injectors, most major components. It's hard to argue with anyone getting back into TDI cars.
Johny Bylund hmm... really that’s good to know, my 2015 passat tdi hasn’t gotten its TDI update yet, the VW dealer says it’s free but I haven’t had the time yet also Im afraid it might affect performance. What do u think? Thx, 👊🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
ayo30s I had one before that was bought back. I bought a used one 3 months ago and the difference in performance is minimal. The added warranty is worth it for sure.
been over a year since you have posted this video. Have you run into any issues with this car since owning it? Mine has been having extreme cold climate issues in about -40 but in the summer time it has been a wicked car. Considering selling it next year cuz i am un sure of the reliability of it at higher milage.
I have since taken the buyback offer from VW, but I have never experienced any reliability issues during my ownership (New to ~60k miles). What kind of issues are you having in the extreme cold? Diesel fueled cars/trucks generally do not like to start right up in extremely cold temperatures.
@@DriveItRyan it all falls under the exhaust system with add blue. My line froze and cracked last winter leaving me stranded and I've read some horror stories about the dpf def system in general. I want to delete it but its 3g Canadian to do it and would rather just hope for the best and try to sell it before major issues come up. I commute 100km a day for work though so having the diesel is nice but it wont be so nice if I'm tossing money at it non stop.
@@BryceSirianni All depends on what's important to you. If I were in your situation, I would get a full turboback exhaust and delete the DPF, EGR, & Adblue. I just bought myself a 2014 Jetta TDI automatic. So far I love it and it was a sweet deal with the car having only 33K miles on it. I purchased it from a Nissan dealership (probably why it was priced well) and noticed under the hood some stickers stating the vehicle had been modified twice, the second done in March 2018. I was not aware about the AD blue requirement and was not informed when purchased because Nissan probably would not care to tell me. Is this something that the dealer would do every 10K miles during the oil change? If so how much typically is being charged to do this, in VW dealer prices I mean.
You are in luck my friend! VW added the adblue to the 2015+ TDI's so you don't have to worry about it with your 2014 TDI. In my case, it only cost about $30 to fill the adblue tank up in the trunk.
I bought my 2015 Jetta TDI SE with the DSG transmission at auction with only 20000 miles. it had already been modified with the stage one emissions equipment and as such did not qualify for the buyback program but because I agreed to the stage 2 modification Volkswagen has offered me some money. So I assume I will also have the urea injection AdBlue tank and heater ridiculous system installed when they are finished. If anyone wants mine I will sell it for wholesale while it is still under the bumper to bumper 36000-mile factory warranty!
When did you purchase your car? I've got a 2015 Jetta TDI that I bought about a year ago with stage 1 fix already done. Wondering if I'm entitled to more cash, as well.
If you apply before 09/01/18 and agree to install stage 2 then they will offer you $2300 but the court official has to approve all your paperwork first.
A prius pollutes the earth far more than a TDI. You have to add the environmental cost of lithium mining, battery construction, and the fact that over 60% of American electricity is still coal.
@John Ryan only problem with that is i live near Toronto. The traffic is so bad that in stop and go traffic you will regret a standard. Your left foot and calf muscles will be twice the size of your right! Lol ;-)
I purchased a '15 TDI and it's great. The major problem is the Nav radio, It frequently locks up and I have to do the three finger salute to reboot it. On the highway, the TDI is fantastic.
Now after watching this video now I’m even more convinced to get one of the or golf in diesel. Preferably manual. Just a few questions, Do you still have the car? And how reliable are they? I live in Pennsylvania and we have some harsh winters up here.
I wish I still had it! Somebody on here actually just said they think they bought this exact car. I had 0 reliability issues when I owned. I live in Connecticut, and took it up north to the ski mountains in some COLD temps and heavy snow and it never gave me an issue. It was a beast with snow tires on it! I can confidently recommend buying one. I’m probably going to buy another one soon if I can find a manual!
Jacob Burnett yeah I should have worded that differently. I meant that you can buy brand new 2015’s from the dealer since they had to stop selling them all until they were fixed.
DriveItRyan Ah. Yeah I do know that the 2015s were the first batch of models released back to the wild after the "fix". Mostly due to the different engines in the 2015s. And when I was car hunting last fall I couldn't find any TDI around the ATL area. But I found some this summer.
To me the 2019 Jetta looks like it is pretty much a Passat I love Passat don't get me wrong man I miss my 09 Jetta TDI almost the exact same car as yours little differences here and there I've tried driving other vehicles I'm wanting me another TDI
Clarence Swope yeah it’s hard to not want a tdi after you’ve owned one. I still can’t get over the front end of the 2019 Jetta. I’m not sure who looked at that design and thought it was an improvement 🧐
Tom Markham Yup! I actually almost just bought another 2014 Tdi. Keep in mind, this is the information I had at the time of making this video. I’m glad they weren’t crushed!

i jst bought 2018 golf gts (sportwagen) tdi 2.0 with 25k kms in it. i love this car.
There are diesels popping up all over now which is good for us! Enjoy the new one!
I bought a 2013 TDI in 2018 and I love it. It’s a sportwagen 6 speed manual
No DEF on 2013
Same here man super good model I also got the fender audio with subwoofer lol
Like the way you think .
I bought my 2015 TDI with the 6 speed manual about a month before dieselgate came out. I decided to keep mine and had the fix applied (both stages). I absolutely love mine. The fuel economy is absolutely amazing and it's fun to drive!
A part of me wishes I did that. Filling my wrx up every 2 days is starting to get old lol. Enjoy!
how did the fix affect the car; mpg, speed, drive etc wise?
@@DriveItRyan WRX is definitely fun though! Thank you!
You have the fix applied? Braindead.
I have a 2012 Jetta TDI with 6 SPD DSG and am in the process of picking up a 2014 Jetta sportwagen TDI with the same tranny. Absolutely bad ass car.
Dan Hahn I believe it! Keep it til the wheels fall off for sure. It’s going be a long LONG time til that day comes!
We are doing the buyback for our 09 TDI and thinking of getting a low mileage 2015 TDI to replace it. We absolutely love our Mk5 TDI but it needs a ABS module $2000. Otherwise it’s been trouble free with 200k miles.
thinking about buying a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 2.0 TDI diesel engine, 6 speed manual, has 60k miles. thoughts or suggestions? price?
Buy one! I honestly still want to get another one. Looks like the going rate is around 11-12k with that mileage 👍
dealer lots are still littered with low mileage, cheap TDIs. about to pull the trigger on a CPO 15 TDI Golf 6m with 26,000 miles for $13k - this comes with the CPO warranty and the 126,000 mile emissions equipment warranty. incredible deals right now.
The deals are insane right now on TDI's! I am actually thinking about picking one up, since I no longer have the one in this video.
@@DriveItRyan nice! just since my first post, a 6mt golf sportwagen se just popped up for sale nearby...better jump on one while we can!
Just picked up a tdi 6 manual golf Sportwagon. Yeah, I like it.
ME TOO. Love it.
I have a 2011 model, fully kitted out, love it to death!
tculig show us
I might be going to look at your old car tomorrow! Carfax said it came from Connecticut, but I'll be looking at it in Poughkeepsie.
Oh man let me know! If you don’t buy it, I might lol. I miss that car!
love my 1.6 TDI. Though the intense heat in India keeps me lil bit worried about it reliability but so far no faults since i bought it used at 70k at the odo, serviced it, and been using it since, approx 10k miles.
I agree with this. I have the same car and trim but with the 1.4t engine. Takes regular and I get 30MPG in the city and 40mpg on the highway.
Im here for the outtakes
You can actually turn off traction control in the "car" menu. It's really easy - a three step process.
I've heard about this! I'd give it a shot if I still had the car :)
I drove the DSG transmission, and its a nice auto, but I am just a manual kinda guy. I drive 63 miles each way to work, so I intend to put her to the test. Thanks for the review.
Perfect choice for that commute!
I just fill my def at the truckstop its super easy the nozzle fits right into the tank from the pump its way cheaper too
chris seems real convenient. Not a bad idea!
Had a 2009 tdi jetta car got rear ended hard at stop light push 6 cars forward suv that hit me was in bad shape my jetta all n all was fine just couldn't pop the trunk lol, , ,, car was claimed total loss ended up buying many cars since then honda bmw etc,, 10 years later bought 2015 passat tdi sel, love it best cars ever great fit n finish a true everyday driver meaning it starts all the time, lol, fun car with excellent handling and performance VW LOVE.
Nice video , I have a ‘15 Golf TDI … Malone 2 , Sport suspension 1’6 in Love it more than my Audi and MB, very economic sounds like real car not return such cars are history . I wish to keep all life !!
We have a 2014 vw tdi are the engines good cause you mentioned that the 2015 model crushed the 2014 model year ?
Andrew Shvetsov the engines are still good for the 2014’s. Not to worry! Everything was revised for 2015 but the 2014’s are still great engines with more character than the newer ones 👍
I bought it! I LOVE it! Driving is fun again!
Dang it now I have to buy one again! The greatest daily / road trip warrior ever 🤙
Wish I had the manual😐
The Pre-2015 were not crushed. Some were repaired and offer for resale too.
Matthew Gaines yeah I know this was just the information I had at the time of making this video. Since then, I almost bought a 2014 tdi.
Considering a 2013-4 Jetta TDI 6 manual...replacing my old 2000 Golf TDI 5speed. My brother convinced me of getting one every since he got a 2015 Golf TDI...
I gave my 15 back I was so mad a month later so a year later I bought a clean 13
Almost bought a clean 14 but it sold before I could get there :(
Why do so many tdi jettas have the wheel caps removed
Very easy to add a Traction Control button...Love mine
Yep I would have definitely done that if I kept it. At least it’s a problem that can be solved 👍
Dose vw still have a paint warranty?
I have owned 3 TDIs and I am going to pick up another one this week. Great cars! I have never witnessed the fuel economy that so many others profess. 60 MPG-really?
I bought a 2013 Jetta TDI 2.0 turbocharged and is really fun to ride I’m going to put more power in to it
Hell yes!
If it's only audible in the back it must be an exhaust leak or something loose. Take it back to the dealer if its covered!
Twin turbo?? U wish....
You are absolutely right, ea189 was a far better engine with better power and torque response.
im picking up a 2012 golf TDI 2door with manual for a daily driver. only 49k miles on it.
APECK618 that’s a hell of a find
I don't know where the 2015 models are assembled but I can tell you my 2011 tdi jetta from Mexico is a far cry from my 04 gti shipped over from Wolfsburg Austria.
I’m pretty sure the 2015’s were also assembled in Mexico. Quality control isn’t quite the same lol I hear what you’re saying 😂
Subarus are a really hot GF that's nothing but trouble and takes your money, but damn she's hot so you put up with it.
I got a 2012 6spd Tdi the other day, things a beauty with 75k
Still a baby! Enjoy 👊
DriveItRyan thank you brother, subbed 👌🏼
Kevin SimPlay thank you bro! Appreciate it! 🙏
I'm buying a 2015 golf tdi in a couple of days I hope it's as good as your jetta
antuan melkoun it should be!
I love my 2015 passat
Bought mine new in Feb 2015 was ordered from me in Oct 2014......2015 Jetta SEL TDI Loaded with every option they paid me well over 7K to keep it and a great Warranty.....
So we kept her 5 years old now and only 60k miles! Very rare car
Hey mate do you still have it?
Serious question, I just bought that exact car a few days ago and I’ve never had a diesel so idk what rpm I should be shifting at for optimum health of the car
Dakota Evans from what I remember, the car falls on its face after 4k rpm. I’d shift between 3 and 4K rpms.
Mine likes to cruise as 1200
Any big differences in 2015 or pre 2015 TDIs?
DEF in the 2015s
Hey! Thx for the video. I just got the 2015 Passat TDI, manual. My question is, have u had any issues with the DEF/DPF, thanks, 👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
I haven't had any issues at all. Just have to top of the adblue tank every 8k miles or so.
Not only does this increase fuel efficiency, but it also deletes all of the common potential failure points. Here is the link to what I would buy: www.rawtekinc.com/collections/jetta-tdi-2015/products/jetta-tdi2015-dpf-egr-adblue-delete-exhaust-performance-kit
I am not affiliated with Rawtek in any way. This is just what I would do :)
@@DriveItRyan what's funny is rawtek is a Canadian company and I'm in Canada but they only deal with American dollars and it's an arm and a leg for my to buy it Haha.
Hey guys, I thinking of buying a 2015 TDI. Jetta/golf. Are they reliable. Besides the timing belt, what should I expect? I'll be doing 90% highway
Very Reliable! Keep up with the recommended maintenance and you shouldn't really be expecting any major problems. These cars are the kings of the highway!
man i wish i could have 3 cars... here in Ontario Canada you're looking at about 1500-2000/car/yr....
might aswell get back in the TDI scene and get one that does EVERYTHING well, especially when deleted ;)
Goodness that's a lot of money! I may get back into one soon. You just can't beat them for an everyday commuter.
Vito Vitale sounds like you probably still got a pretty good deal on it! Some money is better than no money!
Just bought a 2015 jetta tdi with automatic.
mikstaa27 awesome! Enjoy!
The only thing i HATE it the stupid hill assist for the manual transmission
Taco Man yeah I’m not a fan of that either but I could live with it.
The botton traction control is in the globe box, isn’t it?
It wasn’t in mine. Just the tpms reset button.
I just picked up a 2013 TDI Passat with the DSG tranny. Great fuel economy tuned and deleted.
@LucasMaclean-fy7st Already done.
@LucasMaclean-fy7st nope
@LucasMaclean-fy7st didn't put one in.
@LucasMaclean-fy7st Deleted and tunned
Yeah that traction control pissed me off too got stuck in my apartment parking lot because I couldn’t giver. got 2015 VW tdi also
hahaha I know right! I got stuck going up my driveway more times than I'd like to admit because tcs cut power right out from under me -_-
Thank you for a review without all the corny rap crap and staying on point.
Great, very professional review! :)
Kevin Singh thank you very much!
how many miles does it have and how many did u put on urself?
I bought it new and put around 48k miles on it before they bought it back.
You can turn traction thru radio believe or not .. I kno
Jesse Williams I didn’t know that was possible lol. Can you explain how to do this?
Jetta TDI ,it's the best car in the whole word .l drive them for 28 years never l had problem with them.
I’m probably going to buy another one soon if I can find a manual!
i like it very much i have got the polo tdi 16 turbo it runs very well
Very cool! We never got those in the U.S. ☹️
Keeping it worth more today than back in September 2015
Honestly. Emissions don't matter to me. The interior is a lot better than other cars. I've pretty much had it with Ford and Chevys.
I just bought a 2012 Jetta SportWagen TDI so I'd say 2015 isn't the only year you can buy again.
Jacob Burnett nice the sportwagen tdi is a great choice! Tons of room to fit anything you want in that car. Enjoy it my friend!
I bought my 2015 in 2017, car was considered brand new. I use DEF from O’reilly, literally no problem, don’t want to buy from Stealership.
Good to know that you've had no issues using that fluid! Enjoy the car, I miss mine!
Does that have any insulation? That video makes your car sound almost as noisy as a city bus. Btw, $23k is what my 2006 Accord cost new.
The Jetta was not loud at all. Accords are great cars too. Enjoy 🙂
6 years later and I cant even find a manual TDI
great honest review bud.
kuffs06 thanks buddy!
Yeah bud
To me the 2019 Jetta looks like it is pretty much a Passat I love Passat don't get me wrong man I miss my 09 Jetta TDI almost the exact same car as yours little differences here and there I've tried driving other vehicles I'm wanting me another TDI
Clarence Swope yeah it’s hard to not want a tdi after you’ve owned one. I still can’t get over the front end of the 2019 Jetta. I’m not sure who looked at that design and thought it was an improvement 🧐
I bought a used 2014 Jetta TDI December of 2018. So they aren't getting crushed.
At the time of the video, they didn't have a fix for the pre 2015 model years, but I'm glad they do now! Enjoy!
I have a 16 Touareg TDI. Powerful car
They never crushed them. They modified them. I just picked up a 2013 for $8000 that was modified to pass inspection post scandal.
Tom Markham Yup! I actually almost just bought another 2014 Tdi. Keep in mind, this is the information I had at the time of making this video. I’m glad they weren’t crushed!
@@DriveItRyan I am having one problem where the car is sputtering and sometimes doesn't accelerate or there is a delay of a couple seconds when I accelerate. Getting a P0087 common rail system error. Had the fuel filter changed. Also the high pressure fuel pump was changed recently priort to me buying it. Sadly I got an automatic, my 2003 TDI was a 5 speed that got over 55MPG consistently. This TDI gets 36 at best right now. Great video
Tom Markham did it come with a warranty? VW should fix that for you! Also if you want to improve your mpg’s, get a turbo back exhaust with a dpf and egr delete along with a Malone stage 2 tune. Should get you about ~10mpg more on average.
@@DriveItRyan I wish it had one. I bought it from a used car dealer that buys them from VW. I won't do that again. Used car dealer near Gillette stadium.
Why would you get rid of it
jim cherkas The deal was too good to pass up and I cut down on my commute time significantly so I didn’t really need it anymore. I also don’t need 3 cars at this point in my life. I do miss it though for times when I’m taking a long road trip.
Great presentation! Always wanted to get my hands on the TDI...at least before VWgate. Silly bloopers....please watch the F's & M.F's to keep it informational rather than psychological...complexes.
No pano sunroof? Well. Your foot wells will stay dry!
I take it yours leaked? 😳
Take it to the bank, it leaked. Leaves and crud clog the drain tubes, which got harder to unblock with each new model. Adding weird, unnecessary check valves to the drains on the 2009-2014 Mark VI was a nasty surprise. I have owned numerous VW’s with sunroofs over four decades, and each and every one leaked, with one exception, my 1984 GTI
I managed to get a 2014 passat tdi yesterday lol
suk madik sick! I’m going to look at a 6spd golf sportwagen tdi this week. We’ll see what happens! Enjoy :)
@@DriveItRyan hell yeah, man! I wish you luck, I love the sportwagens a lot haha. That's gonna be a fun little machine. And thank you!

@@DriveItRyan you said the auto was just as good or fun to drive. Lol not even close, and it's going to be hard to find a TDI auto with 300-400k that runs mint and or that you can be tuned properly due to the torque constraints of a auto.
John Doe all I said was that the DSG is pretty good and not a bad option for those that don’t know how to drive a manual. Basically, it doesn’t suck. Still, I agree with you that the manual will always be the better option and more reliable long term.
