    Welcome to the fifth episode of The Classically Abby Podcast!
    In today's podcast, I’m interviewing Chanale Fellig-Harrel. When Chanale is not making music and busy being a supermom of her Israeli kids she is diving deep into Jewish culture. If it’s happening in the Jewish world you’re gonna hear about it here first. Heavy on humor, light on sarcasm, always interesting, her podcast, The Weekly Squeeze Podcast, is served fresh twice a week and features some of the best guests and most exciting, thought provoking and entertaining conversations in the Jewish podcasting world. In today’s episode of The Classically Abby Podcast, we talked Judaism vs. Christianity, conservatism, and making music in a religious world. With so much in common, I was excited to talk to her and share another Orthodox woman's perspective with you all. Be sure to listen to the end, where we answered my premium Substack subscriber’s questions. If you’re interested in submitting questions for a future podcast, head over to classicallyabby.substack.com.
    The Classically Abby podcast centers on classic living and traditional values. Here, you'll find discussions regarding relationships, motherhood, faith, and navigating the modern era as a traditional woman, as well as conversations with other people in this space. Hosted by @classicallyabby, this podcast gives strength to the women who reject the modern narrative of womanhood and instead embrace real femininity.
    Each episode will contain four segments. In the first segment, we'll just catch up and chat about what's been going on in my life, what is going on in the zeitgeist, whatever else it may be. The second segment is the main topic of each episode centering on motherhood, relationships, classic living, traditional values, and modern femininity. The third segment is our faith talk. And lastly, I'll be answering subscriber questions from my premium subscribers on Substack. So if you have any questions you'd like to hear answered, make sure to become a premium subscriber there! As well, I'll be doing interviews interspersed with my regular content with awesome people in this space.

    BTW, as a Christian, I think the modesty argument applies not only to Jews, but it is supposed to apply to Christianity as well. But, there are "liberal Christians" that do not necessarily equate with what Christianity is supposed to represent.

      @@bigbobbymike Because it’s “liberal Christians” who tend to have respect gay people’s right to marry and have a family and this may fall under the category of the “liberal Christians that do not equate with what Christianity is supposed to represent”.

    • @bigbobbymike

      @@TreyParkersBitch From YOUR perspective, this is about gay marriage and respecting that decision. We need to separate the two to have a peaceful dialog. The reason that liberal Christians accept gay marriage is because they lack the passages that indicate homosexuality is a sin. If this is the discussion that you want to have, then let's have it. I don't think Orthodox Jews allow same sex marriage, nor do Muslims.
      If same sex people get married, I don't hate them, but I will not associate with homosexual people as everyday friends. Nor would I associate with adulterous people. I would not be friends with alcoholics, thieves, murderers, and other such outlaws. This doesn't mean that I do not show compassion, love, and respect. This only means that I will not allow SINFUL behavior from people be an influence in my life.
      So, to be clear, respect is something you should always be willing to give, as in the case of love, mercy, and compassion. That said, it still doesn't mean that sinful behavior is acceptable as it is a kin to a contagious disease. This discussion goes much further that the outlying respect that you think homosexuality deserves. No sin deserves respect, but people do. Therein lies your confusion.

    Fascinating conversation. I do think it is difficult to compare against Christianity as a whole. Although the fundamental tenets of all Christianity share these concepts of "faith-based" salvation - there is a non-trivial difference in how that is interpreted between the more orthodox Christian groups (Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, etc.) and Protestant Christian groups. What's reflected in this comparison conversation is more biased toward the Protestant Christian perspective. The orthodox Christian perspective is that faith begets love, and love prompts action (i.e. in the way you actively respond to faith via the way you live your life, your devotion to God and others, your devotion to tradition/sacraments/etc.). And it's this willful response to faith over the course of a lifetime that is just as critical in Catholicism / Orthodox Christianity in the Salvation equation - not merely the assent to belief as a "one time event", as is the case in Protestantism. Nevertheless, all Christians believe restoration with God was only made possible by the human sacrifice (and re-entrance into Heaven) of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe is God incarnate - and that regardless of the specific perspective taken ("faith alone" or "faith & works"), it is this outside grace alone that merits salvation.

    (Full disclosure, was born into a Jewish home, practiced conservative Judaism but attended Chabad and I later recognized Jesus as the Messiah). I know that I will always be Jewish, though. I know that many would say I am not Jewish anymore, but it's so important to me.

    The BIGGEST difference by far is that Christians believe Jesus is Messiah and that they are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. They also do not observe the Sabbath or feast days in the Torah. Obedience to the law is evidence of their faith but will not save them.

  • @amartinez589

    The idea of a second soul must not be something that was mentioned in the Pentateuch, never heard that. Christians also believe that we were separated from God by sin at the garden, and it’s true we believe we can only be reconciled by faith. God slaughtered the first animals to cover the sins of Adam and Eve and cover them literally. Sin requires atonement by blood. This is why God gave the laws and the levitical priesthood structure, but now the temple is gone so how do Jews atone for sin? Christians are made right through Jesus, His sacrifice and blood at the cross. How are Jews made right without a sacrificial atonement? A video on this topic would be very interesting

    Any woman who has listened to a man sing says she felt nothing for him while he sings is lying. There are legions of boy band groupies that prove that false. 😂 Personally I’m a sucker for a good bass singer. Sadly, my husband couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it. I still love hearing him sing to our children and worship the Lord.

    Oh my gosh!! Bitter, water, wood, rock; once again, I can’t but see the Saviour hearing Faith Talk.
    … with his rod he smote the rock twice… Numbers 20:11 AKJV
    And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: John 3:14 AKJV
    Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. John 19:29 AKJV
    Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 and did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
    6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 1 Corinthians 10:1-10 AKJV
    Mishlei Proverbs 30:4 Who ascended to heaven and descended? Who gathered wind in his fists? Who wrapped the waters in a garment? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is his name and what is the name of his son, if you know?
    God bless!!💓🌹

    As a male, I've fallen in love with women while listening to them sing. I know that there must be truth to the alluring sound of females singing even when they are not in visual. I totally agree with Chanale. Women that understand the importance of what gets men in trouble have a much better respect for the weakness of men in the sexual areas. Thank you for that wisdom Chanale.

  • @eyoung8215
    @eyoung8215 Год назад +5

    Chanale desribed protestantism but NOT Catholicism. Catholics belileve original sin came through the Sin of Adam who was Head of the human race. We all have this sin through generation at birth (It is not a personal sin) BUT baptism takes away this sin from our soul and we are again connected to God. But a wound is left in our lower nature - and so we have a tendency to sin. Baptism takes away the Original Sin and restores our connection with God. Life then is seen as a journey back to God - using the sacraments to heal and strengthen us. It is true that for the Catholic one must have belief BUT faith without WORKS is dead, says St Paul and we must work out our salvation in fear and trembling. That does not mean a servile fear but a filial fear of offending God because we are His children. Catholicism is both faith and works . God wishes me to love and serve him in this world so that I can be happy with Him in the next world. God demands works from us (whilst recognising we can do nothing without His grace to begin with) - yes we must avoid sin AND we must live out our calling as children of God. We do this as children obedience to parents who guide us in the intellectual, moral and spiritual life, we choose our vocation in life (holy orders, religious life, mariiage, single life) and do the works demanded of that calling to serve God and others. Obviously there is much more to so to say! Wishing you well in your podcast, Abby.

    Women, make yourselves small. Be silent, and obscure your body, lest you arouse a man. Men, do as you wish, and praise god that he didn’t make you a woman. -Iron age 🐒 logic.

    • @jncon8013
      @jncon8013 Год назад +4

      Condescension is an uncharitable approach. The Bible doesn’t tell women to make themselves small. There are times when everyone has to be silent. One of those times for women is in the church, with regard to us not assuming the authority of teaching over the church. I for one at glad that such a hefty responsibility was delegated to the men. I expect such a role can be quite burdensome at times, so I am content to be spared such a task.
      “Do as you wish” is about as antithetical to scripture as it gets.
      Men and women should both be dressing with decency and propriety, for God first and foremost, and secondly for one another. Lust is such a destructive sin and it is all too easy to fall prey to sexual immorality. Thus anything we can do to shelter each other’s hearts from that is, I think, nothing short of an act of love.
