    This is what I ride as much as possible, when you can kill a run like this, you can pretty much ride anywhere.
    I was going to write something snarky... But this is a decent legit tuber on how to get started.

    the best thing to do is launch straight into the moguls as fast as you can with your eyes closed and keep those knees straight and locked up. When you open your eyes you’ll see you’ve defeated the moguls. Try it 😁

    My approach is usually to ride over the top of one and then around/in between the next amd so on... works good for me... using them like a pump track can be fun if its not too steep but greater likelihood of geeting bumped around.

      wELL HAPPY YOU LIKE TO BOARD THEM i AM NOT A FAN OF THEM ON A BOARD. i HAD SKIS UNTIL bOARDS WERE ALLOWED ON THE LIFTS AND They handle mogals better than boards do.I have surfed from when I was young and became kind of adicted to powder the begining of my second year snowboarding on a trip to Utah on my first open powder field on a good slopel. It felt like surfing my semi teardrop twin or quadwith a baby swallow. Carving while staying on top! ME AND A FRIEND i SURFED WITH STARTED CHASING IT . hE WORKS FOR RESORTD IN THE WINTER AND HAS A HOUSE IN tAHOE TO STAY AT. He is pretty fast down so it helped by pushing me to keep up. I did and we have had a lot of good powder watching weather and driving from the so cal beach to Mamouth at night to be there when we can be some of the first on the lift. Also got lucky using some good radios from my work installing Elevatorsfinding the liftt operators on the channel reporting lift openings after clearing the chairs! Hearing lift 25 almost cleared and will open in 20-30 minutes to other workers. SCORE show up at the perfect time ! NICE. Also some backcountry and a little snowmobile drop offs and a great place we call The Road Run. Steep untracked Powder with some nice big rock dropsdown to a residential street. My radios were great and we just had a driver or took turns drving back down for pickin up and going again. RUNS DOWN THE BACKSIDE OF A FEW WITH PICK UP AT THE BOTTOM a hELI BOARDING wHUSTLER IN THE EXPERT LEVEL ON BOTOMLESS SNOW WAS GREAT TOO. fUN TIMES LOCAL LIKE A DAY AT bALDY ONLY AN HOUR FROM nEWPORT DURIN eL nINO ON vSSLENTINES DAY . i TOLD MY HELPER ITS RAINING GOOD WE Cnt work today . Went home on my way grabbed my board and gear to find 6-8 feet of fresh having to follow blowers and plows tho the lifts and ticket sals. It is a small place and requires fresh anowfall but has places if you know it as steep as places like Mamouth and Kirkwood aome long steep and some cliffs and secret runs from the very top to having to hitch a ride back to the lift at the bottom on the road you drive up to get there. NO FRIENDS ON A POWDER DAY THAT CANT KEEP UP TO THE NEXT LIFT

    I actually like moguls quite a lot but snowboarding in the east, you get a lot of mogul trails that just turn into complete sheets of ice. Steep icy moguls is the most painful experience on a snowboard in my opinion because there’s zero give to those moguls and if you don’t ride perfectly in between them you will be on the ground. I ride on a fairly wide board and I hate it the most when the moguls are so close together that there actually isn’t enough space for my board to go between them.

    • @chuckruffing6283
      @chuckruffing6283 7 месяцев назад +1

      It's not that you can't ride the ice moguls...It is the fact that you really are not that good at riding the mountain period and the ice moguls prove it.

    The way I approach moguls is to think of the valleys as the gas and the hills as brakes, I guess this is similar to what skiers do anyway. So I'll ride into the valleys and maybe ride diagonally past a few hills to gain some speed depending on how steep it is, then time my turns to use the hills as brakes to control my speed then ride into the next valley. If I don't time the turn right then I'll just use my knees to absorb the hill and cross into the next valley.

    Is a softer board going to perform worse on steep moguls than a stiffer board?
    I bought a Burton process (havnt used it yet) and I’m worried it’s going to suck for terrain like this, which I still enjoy. I think the flex rating is a 5 so it’s not *that* soft but just wanted to hear your thoughts.

    • @SnowboardProCamp
      @SnowboardProCamp  Год назад +5

      The process will be ok in the moguls but a stiffer board will definitely give you more control and stability.

    • @jonbrown9490
      @jonbrown9490 Год назад +2

      No, your Process should be fine on moguls. Sometimes a board with a little more torsional softness will help you get the twist you need to steer the board in tight areas( like moguls and trees). The truth is it doesn't really matter what board you have, when it comes to terrain like moguls it's just about building the skill to ride them well with the board you're on.
