Oz killed Victor because Victor had seen Oz at his most vulnerable and weak, which triggered Oz's need for control and power, making him unable to tolerate any perception of weakness in himself; essentially, Victor's knowledge of Oz's vulnerabilities became a threat to Oz's carefully constructed image
I loved how they didnt try and make you see penguin as the hero or anti-hero throughout the show. Pretty much the whole way through its cpear, this is a villain and we are watching a villains rise in power.
You know it’s funny. I was planning on starting the series tonight. That was until I scrolled through RUclips and saw this ignorant ass, plot revealing thumbnail. Thanks CineSpoiler 🙄.
It occurs to me that he is known to not have family because it is a weak point to a murderer. Once Victor expressed his deep familial love, it made Oswald realize he loves him like family. Hense a weak point in his plan to be gangster number 1.
You got it exactly right. It was that he viewed the feelings of “family” as a weakness, the fact that he knew about his mother, and the fact that Francis was complimenting Victorfor caring for her so well, just a little while after she berated Oz for not being able to care for her. I think you’re the only RUclipsr to point that out so far. That was the moment when I started to think “oh, this kid ain’t gonna make it after all.”
People feeling sorry for Sofia at the end, forgetting that she killed a kid Vic's age in the first episode. Also murdered almost her whole family, killed a mentally handicapped patient, mentally/physically tortured Penguin's mom and bombed a part of Gotham killing thousands. She is worse than Carmine, Penguin and just below the Riddler. She didn't need to be the real Hangman, she became something far worse.

The reason why he kills Vic is in the very first episode. He literally explains it to Vic as to why he has to kill him as Vic begs for his life in the junk yard after they put Alberto's body in the trunk. He tells him," Maybe it'd be useful to keep you around...FOR NOW." He planned it all along. The Penguin plays chess and uses the pawns for his plans.

Notice how Penguin thought he lost everything after Sophia blew up Oz's entire operation. He's not willing to repeat that just because his family member gets kidnapped again. So just like what he did to his brother, he killed off Victor because he was Oz's emotional "baggage".
I think killing Victor ruined the show because now Oz is one dimensional just a villain. The weakness aspects doesn't apply bc Oz still has his mom and girl friend.

From a writing stand point, they had to have Oz kill Vic so the viewers see Oz as an villain instead of an anti-hero. This way he's someone we want to see Batman make pay.
As soon as we met Vic in the first episode, I was reminded of the episode in Board Walk Empire where Nucky and Owen Slater are stuck with a young punk kid. I think, there was also the urge to kill at least someone, so his inner beast could feel closure and satisfaction. Yes: Oz had won big time. @@damianstarks3338 ok so why does this bother you ? If he spoiled it for ppl there is a lot of other content creators make videos about this he not the only one that doing this.
After watching the finale, I initially thought that Oz had killed Vic because he felt like he was losing a part of himself after discovering that his mother was in a vegetative state. However, this video makes complete sense, so I still see Oz as a ruthless villain who eventually becomes a crime kingpin. In my opinion, this final moment between Oz and Vic is a truly tragic and heartbreaking experience for me. By the way, I can't wait for The Batman - Part II or next DC project!
Excellent synopsis!! I kind of saw it coming, but was still utterly shocked when Oz killed Victor. The ending was so disturbing to me that I’m honestly still upset about it. Victor was totally loyal to Oz that I never thought how he felt about Oz would be considered a real “weakness”. The loyalty could have benefited Oz in the long run, really. Such a fantastic series, though, I’m sad there won’t be a second season.
In the Usual Suspects, Keyzer Söze had his family, wife, and children, held hostage, tortured to get to him. Keyzer Söze eliminated his own family, to prevent them being used against him in the future- that was his family, but he knew it was a weakness that can be leveraged against him, as he just saw, so he rather give them a quick deletion while securing the fact that weakness has been removed.. afterwards, Keyzer Söze became unstoppable, nothing to hold him back, or can be used to harm him. Same thing with Vic & Oz, plus, familiarity breeds contempt.
I think it's fairly obvious why. Episode seven was supposed to prepare us for the finale with Oz icing his brothers. But most of us were so invested in the wholesome relationship that came of OZ and Vic, we just didn't see it coming. I know i didn't
Always expected Vic to die, but several episodes later, never thought he would be killed by Oz himself. Oswald Cobblepot saved Victor but The Penguin killed him
@@thaistompit was necessary and overall in line with the Penguins character all throughout the DC universe / Batman franchise. Charismatic and cruel. Untrustworthy and insecure.
We aren’t made to like this character. That animal Penguin, uh I can’t even say his name, isn’t someone we are supposed to root for. It was the correct way to write the ending.
_“Familiarity breeds contempt.”_ Oz did what Keyzer Soze did with his weakness, he eliminated them before anyone else could use them as leverage against him again in the future.
“Why did Penguin DO THAT?” (Spoiler warning) Would have been a better title. I wasn’t spoiled cuz I was watching it Sunday to Sunday. But a lot of people who were looking forward to binging the series would have preferred that.

Cmon Cineranter wtf!!! This show just ended recently! I haven’t finished it yet!! At least wait a few months before a major spoiler video like this or hide the spoiler!! Not cool!!
I like how this turned out because on one hand, this does make Oz into an irredemable villain who shows he'd kill closest people to him, but if you think about it rationally, him killing Vic off makes a lot of sense. I think Oz realised he has to kill Vic when Councilman Hady told him he has to be clean for the upcoming subpeonas, and by that point, Oz already lost most of his illegal business and connections, leaving only Victor. At this point, Oz has 3 options: keep Vic around, setting them both up to be arrested due to Vic having a trail of criminal activity, tell Vic to leave Gotham, which he'll probably be quite offended by now, with all he's done for Oz, and turn his enemy, or kill Victor. By keeping him around,it'd be him trying to stay legit on his side, and leave illicit activities to Victor, but by that he'd just create a rival to challenge him down the line, once Vic realizes he listens to Oz for no real reason. Another one, is that while to Oz's benefit, Vic broke the one scruple in criminal activity Oz has genuenly honored and respected: the boss-underboss hierarchy: Oz's been loyal to Carmine for years, not even Batman nabbing him was enough for him to flip or waver, it wasn't until he found out Carmine was exposed as the rat with wings that he got pissed off enough to try and kill him, he respected the hierarchy also not to deal with Link behind Feng's back. The plan to have underbosses turn on their bosses was Vic's idea, and while it's to Oz's benefit, and said underbosses likely prefered Oz since they knew him and dealt with him from the days he was Carmine's right hand man, it still is a pretty uncomfortable precedent for Oz, as Vic has shown to not respect the one principle Oz actually did, with ALL of the underbosses killing their bosses, and he did so without Oz's knowledge, thus setting him up as a potential rival. On a personal level, Oz has just had his entire world shattered, with Francis revealing how she loathes Oz, that Rex was gonna kill him, and it probably poisoned his opinion on having genuine connections, I think Oz realised here that no matter how much he tries, people he sees as close to him will turn on him. And let's be honest, while Victor was loyal at this point, this feeling of devotion would've very quickly turned into resentment the moment he started finding out about the depths of Oz's lies, about Francis, about his brothers, potentially baout his conspiring with Hady. his closest people betrayed Oz, he's just seen how various underbosses turned on their bosses, even Oz himself was in the end ready to kill Carmine for being a loathsome rat. All signs pointed to Vic turning out the same, and Oz just didn't want to deal with the personal turmoil of Victor becoming his enemy. Basically, Sofia's actions, blowing up the bliss lab, revealing the truth about Francis, kind of sealed Vic's fate, as by that point, Oz turned to see the reality of Victor becoming his enemy, as well as liability, an inevitability, and as awful as he feels about strangling Vic, he saw no other way out. I feel like it'd have been a copout if Oz was just a sociopath who killed Vic with no real remorse or feelings, but you can see here how he felt awful about it, but felt like it had to be done.

The show is way too new to be putting major spoilers in the title. Cmon man.
Thanks for this spoiler video this masterpiece of a Batman spinoff show
Youre a loser
@@damianstarks3338 why did you click and watch this video. If you haven't seen it yet. But you have time to watch the episode but you got time to click and watch the video?
It don't make any sense
@ I have seen the show
@@damianstarks3338 ok so why does this bother you ? If he spoiled it for ppl there is a lot of other content creators make videos about this he not the only one that doing this.
@@damianashcraft1635 It doesn’t bother me I like this video in fact I hit the thumbs up on it as soon as I clicked on it
Absolutely fuck this show, I get that he's a villain blah blah blah but that went too far
Ha… theyre showing how cruel and evil he really is. Willing to kill family to protect his vulnerability
Agreed. Totally out of character from how he acted throughout the series.
@@thaistomp did you watch the show? He was a cruel and manipulative person the whole time… he threatened to kill Vic just because he wanted out.
@@noahweston8298 Nah he was just hurt that Vic wanted to leave him. He was still gonna let him leave of he wanted to.
@ youre right actually. Which is why vic left with the car. He shoulda never came back
Damn, rip to the people saving this series to watch later. He ded. 😅
Vic called Oz fam, you can’t do that.
I suspect he initially took him on as a guinea pig, testing if he could inspire and rally young supporters. But he got too close and had to go.
He killed him because he does not want any connections.
This scene makes absolutely no sense
It makes so much sense
In the Usual Suspects, Keyzer Söze had his family, wife, and children, held hostage, tortured to get to him. Keyzer Söze eliminated his own family, to prevent them being used against him in the future- that was his family, but he knew it was a weakness that can be leveraged against him, as he just saw, so he rather give them a quick deletion while securing the fact that weakness has been removed.. afterwards, Keyzer Söze became unstoppable, nothing to hold him back, or can be used to harm him.
Same thing with Vic & Oz, plus, familiarity breeds contempt.
💯@@MidTierVillain
“Vic crawled under me for warmth” - Oz
Was he barking or something?
I think it's fairly obvious why. Episode seven was supposed to prepare us for the finale with Oz icing his brothers. But most of us were so invested in the wholesome relationship that came of OZ and Vic, we just didn't see it coming. I know i didn't
Wow spoiler in the thumbnail…… was really getting into the show.
You ruined the final episode for me. Thanks a damn heap.
You decided to click nonce
@YABUKIJOE2077 its in the title and thumbnail regard.
Another blatant spoiler in the title and thumbnail. This one is especially egregious. What the hell?
another bot
Always expected Vic to die, but several episodes later, never thought he would be killed by Oz himself.
Oswald Cobblepot saved Victor
but
The Penguin killed him
the writers of the show want to get the viewers to hate the penguin.
Yeah it felt forced.
@@thaistompit was necessary and overall in line with the Penguins character all throughout the DC universe / Batman franchise.
Charismatic and cruel.
Untrustworthy and insecure.
That death ruined the show Os should have gave him a bag and sent him to California… that would have been a better ending
Or took him along with him to rule Gotham. I mean, the kid definitely earned it 💯
We aren’t made to like this character. That animal Penguin, uh I can’t even say his name, isn’t someone we are supposed to root for. It was the correct way to write the ending.
_“Familiarity breeds contempt.”_
Oz did what Keyzer Soze did with his weakness, he eliminated them before anyone else could use them as leverage against him again in the future.
Exactly
When Vic said “Oz, you are in the Mafia”I knew it was over
He new he could control him
Love your channel but why would you put that spoiler in your thumbnail? Nonsense.
Love you work!
For future videos could be a little more vague with you titles. One week it too soon to put a spoiler like that in the thumbnail
Spoilers in the damn title man. WTF!
“Why did Penguin DO THAT?” (Spoiler warning)
Would have been a better title. I wasn’t spoiled cuz I was watching it Sunday to Sunday. But a lot of people who were looking forward to binging the series would have preferred that.
Daaaaamn dude, I watched it already, but the title is BRUTAL to everyone who hasn't
The reason why Penguin killed Vic was may be because he saw himself in Vic or started to see Vic becoming kind of like him.
IM ON EP 2 DOG
Cobb? It's a fuckin nickname, the family name is Cobblepot!
I always knew he was going to kill Vic…
I love you man but you kind of ruined the last episode for me with that thumbnail.
You guys can't talk to Ranter like that!! He's a captain now!!
mum tried to kill him so probably thought having someone to care for made him weak.
I love the channel but I would be pissed if I didn't see the ending. For respect to your audience I suggested change the thumbnail or title... hope you read this. You're channel is too good to ruin shows for viewers
Cmon Cineranter wtf!!! This show just ended recently! I haven’t finished it yet!! At least wait a few months before a major spoiler video like this or hide the spoiler!! Not cool!!
The kid who played Vic, did a great job. I also think that he put his Mom next to the window to torture her, for not loving him.
Damn, I'm glad I was lucky enough to not stumble upon this before finishing
Thanks for the spoiler mate...
That animal Cineranter put a spoiler in the video title WITHOUT ANY PROVOCATION WHATSOEVER
Thanks for the spoiler title. Ugh.
Another one, is that while to Oz's benefit, Vic broke the one scruple in criminal activity Oz has genuenly honored and respected: the boss-underboss hierarchy:
Oz's been loyal to Carmine for years, not even Batman nabbing him was enough for him to flip or waver, it wasn't until he found out Carmine was exposed as the rat with wings that he got pissed off enough to try and kill him, he respected the hierarchy also not to deal with Link behind Feng's back.
💯💯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Very thorough and excellent explanation of Oz' reasoning for killing Vic. It's a pity that not many people see the depth.
SPOILERS!! Oh god why?!?! I'm barely watching it... thanks alot bro.
Dude, you've could've waited at least a month before uploading a major spoiler such as this one. This show is still fresh in everyone's mind.
