Can We All Just Get Along

Gripping song dealing with racism in America. Instead of hate, use love!!!! Yes we can!!! Hands up weapons down!!!!
Rodney King said it best decades ago. As a victim of police brutality, and all of racial and social unrest that that ensued after the incident, Rodney, in a impromptu news interview cried out “CAN WE ALL JUST GET ALONG”. The phrase soon became a universal catch phrase used whenever one found them self in a situation where opposing forces where in conflict, with no resolution on either side. Decades later, we unfortunately find ourselves in similar circumstances regarding recent incidents with police brutality and racially motivated crimes, i.e. The South Carolina “9” and any one of the many cases of murder by police that has invaded our news media over the past year. I was inspired to attempt to express the voices of our next generation, with this simple plea for everyone, law enforcement as well as our fellow citizens to, in the words of the song, “CAN WE ALL JUST GET ALONG/HANDS UP WEAPONS DOWN”. This statement is meant literally as well as figuratively speaking. We need to put down those things that harm and further divide us, and lift up those things that unite us, and surrender to old negative thoughts and practices. Lift our hands towards a higher power, with the realization that we are all God’s children, and that we have more in common than things that divide us. We should embrace our differences just as a beautiful garden embraces the many different plants and flowers.
