No need for apologizes, good video. For all the guys throwing rocks at the other shop, they may not have any diagnosis techs, maybe it's a tire place ect. I've learned in 40yrs that for every 1 tech like Eric that really understands electronics, there's 50 guys who can do good brake jobs. It's why he stands out in the crowd and we all watch.

Better than the class. Class mostly taught theory which is pretty much the same thing. This actually has a professional doing the mechanical part so you can watch how to do it and what tools work. Something school doesn't have enough time for sometimes.
I'd say taking class and watching these videos afterwards really helps with learning

What a difference between the two shops, one starts replacing components until they give up,
the other actually uses the right tools (and more than a little smarts) and has the fault identified
in an hour. If I was a local I know which shop I would use.

Good 'field work'. One can be very creative with limited resources in remote places. This reminds me of troubleshooting in Yukon Territory & in Alaska (>10 y) when a teen. Once, when the distributor (plastic) rotor cracked into two pieces, Dad held the two halves in place with a large rubber band (from my sister's hair) wrapped a few times. We drove a couple hundred miles to Whitehorse--the next town of any size--where we were able to buy a new rotor. 'Field work' can introduce new excitement into life. Thanks for your good work, Mr. O.

Thanks for that Eric! DIY work does have it's own challenges. I work in a dirt driveway with thorns. Cardboard is your friend, as it helps keep you from becoming a porcupine, and keeps the ants away.
Forget trying to easily get a jack under it. You have to literally lift the jack and position it, and work fast before the jackstands sink in the dirt.
Having concrete to work on is a blessing. Still yet, the DIY has a few more challenges.
Anyways, thanks for this video, Eric! Love the mobile call vids.

Thanks for these videos my man .. they have really been helping me out .. I started out rebuilding engines when I was about 19 .. .. just nuts and bolts stuff .. fast forward 20 years .. I've been at a big shop now three years now and I went from being a mechanic to just a parts installer .. yup .. the owners brother does all the diagnosis and we do all the" parts changing" .. electrical diagnosis was never my strong point .. always engine and transmission stuff .. but I'm 38 and figure I have about a good 10 years left of being able to do all the"heavy work" .. then what ?? .. So I've decided I really need to get back into diagnostics because I won't be able to change motors forever and you and.. scanner danner have really helped me getting a grasp back on this side of things .. so hopefully I can either start using all of my capabilities here or move on to another shop .. But either way thanks for the videos.. I really do appreciate them .. Salute

It's really cool to see someone use information and diagnostics to fix a problem..Most mechanics i have met prefer the parts replacement method.
