This was the first song I heard AFTER my grandfather's funeral...to this day, I still put my hand on my shoulder when I hear it (last time I saw him alive, he put his hand on it)...22 years later.
The year this song was released my best friend passed away I was 21 he was 24 that was 35 years ago even now I can’t get thru this song without crying 😢 Thank you Chris
My dad passed in Nov 95 and my daughter was born Nov 96 and this line always gets me emotional. "… I think I caught his spirit Later that same year I'm sure I heard his echo In my baby's new born tears"
@@reginaldhornswoggle8106 Oh, I am sorry, you are absolutely right, I have the present Paul in my "picture", then he was younger and looked different, recently watched only present stuff of him, being older, so I apologize, bc I actually knew it, also this unique voice, I even saw him playing live, when I was 14 and he was so young, playing in "Warm Dust", his first band, joined that concert then.
Made my mother cry... Viet Nam war differences of opinion in the house. Well, luckily Dad and I did grow past that, in the living years. And guess what, Dad was right! Dad's last words to me were "A Dios". Not adios, but A Dios. "With God". Your reaction is simply fire. And so thoughtful. Thanks.
Can’t believe you haven’t heard this one yet. I thought you had. Just beautiful and sooo thought provoking. My mom passed Sunday and I’m glad there was nothing left unsaid. 💔🎶
When this timeless classic came out, I had both parents, and now I have neither, but I made damn sure that I was there for them 100% in their waning years, seeing to it that their ending was a beautiful ending, and their life had few if any regrets. Beautiful reaction and share, as always.
Love this song. It was up for a Grammy for best song of the year. Sadly, it didn't win (Wind beneath my Wings won) - but it was my fav of that year & one of my all-time favorites!!
you do notice of the three choruses, one of the previous generation, and one of the future generation, with Mike & the Mechanics in the present....a forever message
This song always makes me tear up. I am blessed that I was there to take care of my dad & my momma.❤ I'm so happy for that. I lost them both way too young. My dad was only 50 and my mom was only 62 and she should still be with us ( but that's another story)
My dad passed in Jan of 1987. This came out one year later. It still hits me hard. This song is like going to church for me! The story telling in this song is superb.
My wife passed away about ten months ago, and even though we had a wonderful marriage, there were still things left unsaid. This song always hits me in the feels.
I was there that morning when my dad passed away. I was the last person he ever spoke to. That was 1987. This song can relate to more than just our dna fam. The great divide between black and white Americans. I'm deep south, small community. Not even "small town". We were all raised the same. We raised the same gardens, ate the same foods, rode the same bus, went to the same school and had all the same friends. At 5 years old, in headstart, my best friend was a black boy. I wanted him to spend the night. My grandmother never told me he couldn't stay over because he was black. She told me that little girls couldn't bring home little boys. :) After 49 years, that grown black man and this grown white woman are still friends. Hate is taught, not inherent! What you two are doing is helping to bridge that gap! Love to you both!!! ❤❤
I just lost my husband. This song was all about the relationship that he had with his dad. Your beautiful reaction said it all. Thank you kids. You got the message. God bless you
Even the video for this song is amazing. They show the children's choir first. Then they show the adult choir later on. Those children have no idea how quickly life goes by and they will someday replace the adults in the adult choir after they've passed away. And the circle of life continues the way it always has. To me, this is the most emotional song of all time. The only song that comes close is "Tears In Heaven" by Eric Clapton, a song he wrote in memory of his 4 year old son Conor who passed away after an accident that is absolutely brutal to even read about.
This is one of the greatest songs ever written, it was written by Mike Rutherford (the guitarist) and B.A.Robertson about Mike's relationship with his father, sung by Paul carrack a brilliant singer/songwriter in his own right, so many great MATM songs for you to react too Another Cup Of Coffee Nobody's Perfect Silent Running All I Need Is A Miracle Over My Shoulder and the fantastic Beggar On A Beach Of Gold
I want to thank you two for being you two. Sometimes I get so worried about the world and my kids. Music and watching you two always brings me back up. Thank you. Andrew
This song inspired me to draw closer to my dad when I was 30 and he was in his 50's. Now i'm 62 and dad has been gone for 10 years. But we spent those remaining years closer than ever.
This touches such a tender nerve for all of us, but in a way that we want to examine ourselves and ask for forgiveness while there's time. I'm so grateful my dad and I were always on good terms. No arguments, no issues, no resentment. God gave me the best daddy ever. Guess I'm the typical southern daughter. We're hell to get along with cuz nobody treats us as good as daddy did. My heart aches that not every girl can say that. This song reminds me how blessed I was.
The fact the you guys listened to this song and let it get into your soul makes me a lot happy. This song touches my heart and it’s so good to find people who shares if the same feelings ❤️
I will never listen to this song ever the same way!!! I never realized what you miss when you are young that you see when you’re older!!!! Absolutely love it!!!
I appreciate the fact that you guys played the song all the way through without really stopping the video, and then given your commentary afterwards. I feel like we both get more out of these reaction videos that way. Subscribed.
This song is incredible and their biggest hit, but don’t sleep on them! They have other excellent tunes that were popular! All I Need Is Miracle, Taken In, Silent Running, Over Your Shoulder… ❤
Thr Mike in this band is Mime Rutherford. He is tbe guitar/bassist for Genesis. This is a great song. Iost my dad 5 years ago. Him and my mom went to Florida for the winter. His faing health caught up to him while there. I talked to him the day before. It still hurts because I was not there. I was working here at home in Tennessee. I wish I could see him now but, I will in Heaven with the Lord. Cherish the time you have today!
I always think it was a lovely touch for the band to use a backing choir of people from the generation the song was referring to. Paul Carrack's voice was perfect for this song.
Songs like this need to be heard by everyone everywhere.
Indeed, and in every language
You are absolutely right!!
The older I get the harder this song hits
@@FUBAR1986 Me too.

The message of this song brings me to tears because this was me and my father.
He loved you , even if he never told you
This song came on the radio on the way to my grandpa's funeral... It still makes me cry over 20 years later!! 😢
Dust In The Wind I heard for the first time on the way to my dad's. Yup, get it totally.

Paul Carrack is an amazing singer. Love this song, though it does bring tears to my eyes. Great reaction, guys!
This is not Paul Carrack, the band got 2 lead singer, it is the late Paul Young ! I loved this Michael Rutherford project.
@@clannad99germany70 it is Paul Carrick!

As a kid, I loved the sounds of the song. As I grew older, I actually listened to the lyrics. A beautiful gut punch.

One-of-a-kind song, sung by one of the greatest voices around, Paul Carrack.
This song makes almost everyone think of their father. 😢

When music was made be actual musicians. You know it’s a brilliant song when it affects you long after hearing it.
All the brand new songs I listen to are real instruments and voices
What a beautiful, heartfelt song. Everything about it is perfect. The lead vocalist was spectacular. The choir, the lyrics, the message. Very moving!
I heard this song for the first time on the way home from the hospital after my Dad died. I still cry
Everyone who can, should go give their Father a huge hug right NOW....!!!
