I have the distinct pleasure of meeting Shane and his father as well as his cousin at a conference in Wenatchee Washington a few years ago. I will say he is funny, intelligent, sarcastic and one of the most inspiring people I have ever had the privilege to meet. His dad was all of the above as well. I have been following him on social media ever since and cried my eyes out when he and Hannah finally had their beautiful wedding. He is an amazing person.

It's a positive feeling helping the ones you love no drug can compare. I have a special needs brother that I bathe, feed, change his clothes all of that hygiene stuff pretty much making sure he is happy healthy. it can get tiring at times but seeing him happy and smiling is awesome!!!!

Please don't say it's "inspirational". Shane (and Hannah) don't do amazingly crazy stuff, they just live a normal life, while Shane happens to be disabled. They do indeed put a smile on everyone's face, but you shouldn't be inspired by their story just because he's in a wheelchair. I guess the "dreams" you're talking about were like having a girlfriend, traveling, hold a RUclips channel or talking to people maybe, but those are just dreams that every human can have and accomplish. I am happy he found Hannah tbh and seeing the love his family has for him as well is awesome! Growing up Autistic, Adhd and OCD, it wasn't easy not having family support and being seen as the black sheep. Seeing this kind of family, is the support I give my kids now and it is really a difference having love over just being...
My son has recently been diagnosed with Autism, OCD, and ADD. He has appointment next week to do more tests. His step dad doesn’t understand what he is going through and says I just baby him.
How did you deal with your autism? My son was finally diagnosed two years ago. He has add as well and Tourette’s. His autism thank God isn’t the worst he is in the lower part of the spectrum. He is like Sheldon on the Big Bang theory if you are familiar with that show? Anyways I have a couple of questions since it seems getting the correct help he needs is looking to be a joke. What is the best thing I can do for him to help him and let him know he isn’t different? He doesn’t know anyone else with this disorder why he feels so alone, singled out and different. I have tried finding a kid with the same diagnosis but haven’t so far.. The other question is .. what is the best help or program I need to get him into? That will help him the best. Before I lived with my fiance I have been living in a building with fellow autism people from low to really bad. Sure, Sheldon can speak normal, is smart and doesn't have autistic body movements but mentally wise in some ways hes pretty bad but then again I've also seen really different types of autism but eh. Each autist is different and some are more noticable than others but it's pretty noticable in Sheldon though. Also kudos to the actor, he's so good!

I cried when he dad woke him and bathed him and dressed him for the day. It was love in action. A gentle loving act that is not a burden but a gift that his family receives every day. I’m am so deeply happy that this amazing young man is still alive and thriving and DID meet that young woman who didn’t care about the chair or the inabilities and just saw a guy who had other amazing abilities. Loved this story! His parents set the standard. If they had not chosen to look at the hand that they were given in a positive way,Shane would probably have a different outlook on his life. I was tearful throughout this video because I could feel the deep love his family and friends feel for Shane and he for them. The message he shares is so great, but the love they are all living is the most wonderful. They all sparkle and shine like beautiful jewels.

Shane's story is absolutely amazing, but I am so fascinated with hannah. She is so selfless and her heart is something I truly wish I had an ounce of. She loves so openly and is so positive, I don't understand, I've never met anybody like either of them. It makes me think so hard and just wish I was better. I can only imagine how nice of a woman Hannah's mom Is for raising her to be a perfect loving human. I've been raised with body and soul built into mind. She loves him for his soul. Hello all I am a muslim mum who have three children whom all have severe lifelong special needs, my eldest daughter is 10 she has global developmental delay severe learning and speech delay, my youngest daughter is 5 she has severe cerebral palsy affecting all her four limbs she in wheelchair and may never be able to walk and is tubefed and on 5-6 medications daily, my youngest son has severe low functioning autism and non verbal, life is hard and challenging but wort to see their smile, just hope one day hopefully they can all become as independent as they can be.

i cried while watching this video. i have Spina Bifida, where my spinal cord failed to develop completely when i was in my mother's womb, and so far this has no cure. i am SUPER blessed because most people who have this disease couldnt walk anymore and would end up on a wheelchair but I CAN WALK normally and nothing is wrong with me. i just have some handicaps that i can manage very well. i cried because i saw the love of Shane's family to him and the never ending support that they give to him. it's so much alike to my family, they never gave up on me despite of the hardships that they have to go through because of my disease. i am 18 years old right now. this video gives me hope. I have spina bifida too. And I can walk, talk, etc. Doctors told my parents to leave me at the hospital to die. I was one of the first babies in my country that got a surgery so I could live. I'm 25 now and most people meeting me for the first time dont even know or notice I'm disabled.
I love watching this 7 years after it came out, knowing how far Shane has gone and where his is now and him being with Hannah. He is such an amazing person and has done more for people in his 28 years than most have in an entire lifetime. I wish him and Hannah the best.

Yes, they promote partnerships and sell Shane's books, but that's totally normal, almost every youtuber does it (especially when books and youtube are Shane's main source of income). I have insurance too, but I still have to pay a shitton of copays and percentages, especially for anything emergency related... go do some research on how much a person usually ends up spending on a wheelchair bc insurance refuses to cover what they actually need. Look up how expensive it is to be disabled in America. It's a nightmare.

Sometimes, I think people select the dislike because they are trying to express how sad they are about this person’s difficulties, or that they feel sorry for them. I.E., it’s not the video or the person they dislike, it’s the problems represented therein. Obviously it’s the wrong way to express that emotion (a comment would be better), but with only a like or dislike option available, some folks might choose the dislike one.

Sounds like you have depression. Shane does not seem to have depression. So that is a shitty thing that was handed to you and not him. Everyone has their own problems. Just because one person's problems seem worse does not mean you can not be sad or mad about what you were dealt in life.
If you’ve noticed everyone in his family and friend group is very positive and uplifting. He has a very healthy family dynamic which is crucial during adolescent years in developing this attitude. Yeah I’m sure who he is as a person plays in to it as well, but people don’t understand how important your family dynamic is during adolescent years. If your parents are negative and abusive chances are you’ll be the same bc you won’t know anything else...make sense?
I love this guy and I'm so happy he is doing all of this. My son Johnny had Duchenne muscular dystrophy and he passed at the age of 19. This hero is doing everything he can and in my heart I kinda hope that he's doing these great things also for others that couldn't like my son Johnny. God bless.

I've had PTSD and depression for years. Now that I'm a mom I've claimed enough. When I'm down or feeling withdrawn I watch these videos. I like to think I get to let them live through me for the minutes these videos distract me. Then I remember how thankful I am to be a mom to a son that out wits me daily. I love soul pancake and other family stories. It beats TV and social media every day of the week because your experiencing some REAL ASS LIFE THROUGH REAL ASS PEOPLE. Shane is still around and on a new experimental treatment that is working!!! With the help of his BEAUTIFUL girlfriend hes been traveling the world and learning how to hold his head up!!! Even tho the medication is working it's a very dangerous process to receive it so pray for him! He might be the cure!
He should inject Zolgensma. It's werry expensive but stopts definitly the problem. It's experimental but in my country we make donation for children with SMA1 to recive the treatment and be able to walk again and have a normal life.

I have the distinct pleasure of meeting Shane and his father as well as his cousin at a conference in Wenatchee Washington a few years ago. I will say he is funny, intelligent, sarcastic and one of the most inspiring people I have ever had the privilege to meet. His dad was all of the above as well. I have been following him on social media ever since and cried my eyes out when he and Hannah finally had their beautiful wedding. He is an amazing person.

Please don't say it's "inspirational". Shane (and Hannah) don't do amazingly crazy stuff, they just live a normal life, while Shane happens to be disabled. They do indeed put a smile on everyone's face, but you shouldn't be inspired by their story just because he's in a wheelchair. I guess the "dreams" you're talking about were like having a girlfriend, traveling, hold a RUclips channel or talking to people maybe, but those are just dreams that every human can have and accomplish. Shane is no superhero, he's just an incredibly funny and smart guy :)

Growing up Autistic, Adhd and OCD, it wasn't easy not having family support and being seen as the black sheep. Seeing this kind of family, is the support I give my kids now and it is really a difference having love over just being...
My son has recently been diagnosed with Autism, OCD, and ADD. He has appointment next week to do more tests. His step dad doesn’t understand what he is going through and says I just baby him.
How did you deal with your autism? My son was finally diagnosed two years ago. He has add as well and Tourette’s. His autism thank God isn’t the worst he is in the lower part of the spectrum. He is like Sheldon on the Big Bang theory if you are familiar with that show? Anyways I have a couple of questions since it seems getting the correct help he needs is looking to be a joke. What is the best thing I can do for him to help him and let him know he isn’t different? He doesn’t know anyone else with this disorder why he feels so alone, singled out and different. I have tried finding a kid with the same diagnosis but haven’t so far.. The other question is .. what is the best help or program I need to get him into? That will help him the best. Before I lived with my fiance I have been living in a building with fellow autism people from low to really bad. Sure, Sheldon can speak normal, is smart and doesn't have autistic body movements but mentally wise in some ways hes pretty bad but then again I've also seen really different types of autism but eh. Each autist is different and some are more noticable than others but it's pretty noticable in Sheldon though. Also kudos to the actor, he's so good!

Shane's story is absolutely amazing, but I am so fascinated with hannah. She is so selfless and her heart is something I truly wish I had an ounce of. She loves so openly and is so positive, I don't understand, I've never met anybody like either of them. It makes me think so hard and just wish I was better. I can only imagine how nice of a woman Hannah's mom Is for raising her to be a perfect loving human. I've been raised with body and soul built into mind. She loves him for his soul. It's making me tear up just saying it. It's beautiful.

Hello all I am a muslim mum who have three children whom all have severe lifelong special needs, my eldest daughter is 10 she has global developmental delay severe learning and speech delay, my youngest daughter is 5 she has severe cerebral palsy affecting all her four limbs she in wheelchair and may never be able to walk and is tubefed and on 5-6 medications daily, my youngest son has severe low functioning autism and non verbal, life is hard and challenging but wort to see their smile, just hope one day hopefully they can all become as independent as they can be.

i cried while watching this video. i have Spina Bifida, where my spinal cord failed to develop completely when i was in my mother's womb, and so far this has no cure. i am SUPER blessed because most people who have this disease couldnt walk anymore and would end up on a wheelchair but I CAN WALK normally and nothing is wrong with me. i just have some handicaps that i can manage very well. i cried because i saw the love of Shane's family to him and the never ending support that they give to him. it's so much alike to my family, they never gave up on me despite of the hardships that they have to go through because of my disease. i am 18 years old right now. this video gives me hope. I have spina bifida too. And I can walk, talk, etc. Doctors told my parents to leave me at the hospital to die. I was one of the first babies in my country that got a surgery so I could live. I'm 25 now and most people meeting me for the first time dont even know or notice I'm disabled.
I love watching this 7 years after it came out, knowing how far Shane has gone and where his is now and him being with Hannah. He is such an amazing person and has done more for people in his 28 years than most have in an entire lifetime. I wish him and Hannah the best.

Yes, they promote partnerships and sell Shane's books, but that's totally normal, almost every youtuber does it (especially when books and youtube are Shane's main source of income). I have insurance too, but I still have to pay a shitton of copays and percentages, especially for anything emergency related... go do some research on how much a person usually ends up spending on a wheelchair bc insurance refuses to cover what they actually need.

Sometimes, I think people select the dislike because they are trying to express how sad they are about this person’s difficulties, or that they feel sorry for them. I.E., it’s not the video or the person they dislike, it’s the problems represented therein. Obviously it’s the wrong way to express that emotion (a comment would be better), but with only a like or dislike option available, some folks might choose the dislike one.

Sounds like you have depression. Shane does not seem to have depression. So that is a shitty thing that was handed to you and not him. Everyone has their own problems. Just because one person's problems seem worse does not mean you can not be sad or mad about what you were dealt in life.

If you’ve noticed everyone in his family and friend group is very positive and uplifting. He has a very healthy family dynamic which is crucial during adolescent years in developing this attitude. Yeah I’m sure who he is as a person plays in to it as well, but people don’t understand how important your family dynamic is during adolescent years. If your parents are negative and abusive chances are you’ll be the same bc you won’t know anything else...make sense?

I love this guy and I'm so happy he is doing all of this. My son Johnny had Duchenne muscular dystrophy and he passed at the age of 19. This hero is doing everything he can and in my heart I kinda hope that he's doing these great things also for others that couldn't like my son Johnny. God bless.

Saw him on SBSK and this guy is too awesome for this world, he has a great sense of humor and look on life. He has a beautiful girlfriend too. He is living the good life and we all, disabled or not, could definitely learn something from him.

I've had PTSD and depression for years. Now that I'm a mom I've claimed enough. When I'm down or feeling withdrawn I watch these videos. I like to think I get to let them live through me for the minutes these videos distract me. Then I remember how thankful I am to be a mom to a son that out wits me daily. I love soul pancake and other family stories. It beats TV and social media every day of the week because your experiencing some REAL ASS LIFE THROUGH REAL ASS PEOPLE.

Shane is still around and on a new experimental treatment that is working!!! With the help of his BEAUTIFUL girlfriend hes been traveling the world and learning how to hold his head up!!! Even tho the medication is working it's a very dangerous process to receive it so pray for him! He might be the cure!

He should inject Zolgensma. It's werry expensive but stopts definitly the problem. It's experimental but in my country we make donation for children with SMA1 to recive the treatment and be able to walk again and have a normal life.

When I saw his brother caring for him and talk about him, I thought of the line in that song, He ain't heavy... He's my brother. And then it all hit me. Such a touching story and this sweet young man has such a wonderful circle of family and friends around him. ❤️
