I love Sharon den Adel and Within Temptation. You should check out the live show "Elements". Full orchestra and an epic show. "In the Middle of the Night" , "Faster", or any other song. Epic! Both of these singers are Floor's influence.Especially Anna.

I suggest that the most complete integration of orchestra and metal band occurred in 2008 with the release of Within Temptation's Black Symphony, live with the Metropole Orchestra at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam. You've mentioned that as much as Tuomas of Nightwish might like to go on tour with a full orchestra, the cost and logistics make it impossible for Nightwish to do. Within Temptation did the next best thing - record the concert with a full complement of microphones and cameras and release it as a full video. It's a gothic metal masterpiece. I suggested you watch Anneke's colaborations with Devin Towsend on live performance for example "Grace" or "War". Other great colaborations Anekke it was Amorphis (other great Finland band), watch "Among Stars" or "Her Alone". All do Anneke is so beautiful.

Great song, amazing singers. I love how they alternated the singing parts through the song. I don't think Sharon sounds operatic though, she just has this very sweet falsetto. Different technique.
Oh, these Dutchies! This year they repeated the duet in one of their concerts, sadly, I don't think there is any video with good sound quality. Anneke is so good and such a lovely lady. I remember when I saw her with her band Vuur, she came out after the concert to chat with the audience, asking if we liked it and stayed there until we all got our picture with her.

I have no idea if you know this but Sharon den Adel does not like the band to be called symphonic metal. According to her they have made several albums in that direction because they were looking for a specific sound. They thought they had reached their goal with the release of "The heart of everything". She feels that being pushed in a specific category limits their creativity. That was also the reason that "The Unforgiving" album sounded quiet different, the music of that album was inspired by songs they listened to while they were in high-school. Since quiet a few members also read comics at that time they released comic book (under the same name) loosely based on the album. The artwork was done by a Dutch artist who worked for Marvel (X-men was on of the franchises he had worked on) she knew from her Art-academy she studied on herself. Apart from her vocal skills (self taught) she is also very gifted songwriter. One of their most beautiful songs in my opinion is "Say my name" The suggested clip is a complete concert registration but you can select the separate songs from the attached listing in the comments field or select the 45:30 minute mark. The song was never released on any of the studio albums but as a bonus track on the single release of the song called "Angels" . The song is about her (Sharon den Adel) grandmother suffering from Alzheimers and her desperate attempts to try to connect with her one more time. Her delivery is spot on except for slight emotional tremor in her voice that makes it all the more beautiful. The audience is also fully aware of the uniqueness of this song being performed because it so quiet that you would have been able to hear pin drop.Quiet an achievement in a sold-out arena of 20.000 people. I have seen this woman perform four times in concert and countless live registration online she is usually very relaxed and cheerful during her concerts. During this concert she starts out that way but if you watch her carefully you can see her tense up the closer she get to this song and relaxes again after the song has been done. This clearly is very personal song to her. She must have been satisfied with the results because the next year she performed it again during their acoustic theater tour. Well.. it wasn't too far from the truth since she had put her career on the shelf for being burnt out. Her confidence wasn't the best at the time. Since you're really getting into Dutch metal now, I hope you can also take some time to react to Delain. Personally, I really love their song 'Here Come the Vultures'. If you're scared to jump into a new band, you can always ease into it with Delain featuring Floor and Marco, you can't go wrong with Floor and Marco! Just kidding of course, I know you're not scared to discover new music. ;) The Delain song with Floor and Marco is performed in a church in the Netherlands and I believe it was for Halloween, can't really remember. I'm sure someone can confirm or tell me I'm full of sh*t. :) The sound quality here isn't great either, but this is a must see for a fan of Dutch metal (yes you are!) and Nightwish: ruclips.net/video/hHtJsiLAkM4/видео.html.
A song I already told you about earlier is Epica - Consign to Oblivion live at Zenith, Paris. This is one of my all time favorite songs and you can't skip it if you're going on the Dutch metal journey! :)
If you also like your metal a little heavier, there's a more obscure Dutch band called Carach Angren you could check out. I think they call their music symphonic black metal. Some suggestions:

Her confidence wasn't the best at the time. But as she said: they backed her up and brought her confidence back.
