I have not sang many pop songs in my life and found it a challenge to cover such a song without making it into a super heavy version. Instead of heavier we made it more like a ballad. To sing it so small, keeping it like this even when it goes up higher was the true challenge. But what a beautiful song.

Ik heb niet veel pop songs gezongen in mijn leven en vond het een uitdaging om zo'n nummer te coveren zonder er super heavy versie van te maken. In plaats van heavy hebben we het meer als een ballad uitgevoerd. Om het zo klein te zingen, zelfs als het hogerop gaat, was een echte uitdaging. Maar wat een prachtig nummer.

Of course I'm just falling all over myself about Floor like everyone else....but hell yes...Henk is SUPER IMPRESSIVE. To me, he's well beyond "wow". I would so much love to see NW manage to have him as guest vocalist in a song or two at a couple of their next tour venues. Either alone or duet with Floor or trio with Floor & Marco. That would be so magic the word "epic" couldn't begin to describe it!

In terms of delivery & vocal.. Floor had presice control on her vocal & deliver seemlessly in live version
some people are lucky enough to have a nice voice. Then there is Floor Jansen. She can sing any style any note, probably in any key. Opera, gritty rock, metal, pop, adult contemporary. She literally might be the best singer in modern times and that's really not an exaggeration

I agree with you! And I also want to add, that there are people who are lucky (and hardworking!) enough to have an angelic voice such as Floor's, and then there are people lucky enough to live at the same time as they do. That's us. We may not have the luck to have her talents, but we have the luck to be able to listen to her sing on recordings and even live. I feel so lucky that I get to live when Floor does and listen to her sing like this!

I think that Floor´s usage of dynamics is more advanced than in the original.
Did you notice that Floor Jansen used 3 kinds of accents, as well as different tone depth. Soft female American accent for Lady Gaga. Deeper southern accent for Bradley Cooper part. And then she change her (Floor) voice to her normal soft pop voice.

Im a grown ass man but anything floor sings brings me to tears. And Henk looks like a proud father here which is such a beautiful thing. We need more of this in our lives. No matter what language we are ALL part of this earth. It’s a team effort. At the end of the day whatever you believe in, we’ll all end up in the same place. Good or bad. This cover breaks my heart. But also gives me so much hope. Such a lachrymose feeling every time I hear her voice. Simply put, @@cjbrett89 - Tati doesn't go as high as Floor, but Floor doesn't go anywhere near as low as Tati.
But ultimately, Tati has a more audible versatility in her vocals and singing style than Floor. That doesn't mean that one or the other is bad, obviously, but Tati encompasses far more aspects and genres within (and outside of) metal which makes it objectively more warranted to consider her the "Metal Queen" as opposed to Floor.
Granted, they're both Queens in their own right and if they could make an album or at the very least a song together, that would be swell.

Most people are so mesmerized by Tatianas distorted vocals that they do not really pay any mind to her clean vocals. Tatiana also goes high, but admittedly not quite as high as Floor - at least not on record. But she does go considerably lower. The only thing that Tatiana does not do that Floor does is operatic vocals.
I agree that comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges, but when someone claims that Floor is the overall best female vocalist Tatiana definitely comes to mind because she has more versatility.
But again, obviously they’re both insane.

Freddie was more infectious in a way Floor cannot be because she is more technically perfect. It was Freddie's very forward placement that got him in trouble at times live. But that placement also gave him a warmth that very few singers in rock have ever had. But Floor is still growing as a singer after all these years of performing live and hitting stratospheric notes, so what she's doing is more sustainable.

Metal is extremely big, you can think of it as rock/pop/hiphop/opera/blues.
we have all of that within metal with MANY underrated artists like Floor especially in her own country sadly....
being a metalhead here in the netherlands can be difficult as we are judged by looks and the name metal, directly resulting in being an outcast.

Every time I’m listening to floor, with or without nightwish, I get tears in my eyes... her voice is sooo emotional, it’s incredible, and she is absolutely fantastic to look at on stage

@@peterdoe2617 Agreed. Of interesting note: Fans tend to defend the person they follow or sometimes make wild assertions like "best in the world". When one goes to RUclips and listens to vocal coaches like Beth from Bethroars these professionals do not make such wild assertions. I like Beth. She has quite a few videos on RUclips and she explains to me what the artist is doing in terms I can understand. FWIW there is another vocal coach I ran across who discusses all three Nightwish lead female singers and how they did what they did (or still do in Floor's case).I wish I could recall her name for you but she is the only vocal coach I found on RUclips who did this. She uses one song that all three Nightwish singers sang and breaks their voices down beautifully. Never once does this vocal coach say that one Nightwish singer is better than the other. Good luck to you in your profession and hat tip to you for being a teacher.

(Mostly about cooking. Which also is an endless topic, where people can learn from each other.) Sensitive and strong in one, Floor is the Queen. Better than the original, and that is a huge compliment from a Lady Gaga fan.
Better than the original is a stretch. It may be according to your opinion though but for me, nothing beats the original.

I am so very sorry but no cover so far has beaten the original, and apparently none will. As heavenly and extraordinary as this was, I have to agree this may be THE best Shallow cover, I can't imagine no one doing what Gaga did on the song's climax. This is one of the songs you can't not say, "That song is Gaga's." However, to each their own, that's how I see it.
