Awesome. Would you happen to know if this will fit a type 3, pancake motor? I know the pump will physically fit into the block, but I’m wondering if it will clear the fan shroud
The only difference CB performance specified is pre vs. post 1971 due to having either a flat faced or dish faced cam gear. I’d guess yes to your question, but emailing CBPERFORMANCE would be best. They’ve always responded quickly to me.
Would and will use it anytime I build an engine. It has been outstanding. I mean you have the external oil hoses to deal with now but it just feels good having that bit of extra oil and have it going through a filter. The pump itself is awesome too so far. I drive it a lot.
It’s close enough that you made me go look under the Bus.😂 It won’t hit engine mounts. The mustache bar seems to have extensions that push it far enough to the rear so it avoids touching the pump. Now the actual barb you speak of is close to hitting the mustache bar bolt, but if the connected hose had a slight bend in it then it looks like it wouldn’t hit either. Maybe to be sure you could use an angled barb. Good eye!
Part #1734 remote oil filter adapter from CB Performance is mounted underneath rear driver side wheel fender. It comes with the fitting to attach hoses from there to oil pump. It also needs no drilling as it attaches where the bumper mount holes already exist. Just using barbed fittings and Gates hose for now. But CB also has the very nice “XRP” fittings with braided lines…for when I save some more 💰 Good luck with the six-two, a good year!
While you had the studs out , You stick the pump in and see if it needs to be knocked in with a hammer . A stock VW pump has to be beat in . Schadeks are close but if you mic a VW pump with aftermarkets they are small . Out there in the 0.0000 they are all over the place. When you torque the bolts that grab the pump you should not be able to pull it out by hand ........ I am not trying to knock your work - H-LL I love your engine . Down here in Corpus I am in the same situation - no machine shop . later
I’m not surprised that’s there’s a difference in size on the aftermarket pumps, but that’s a Really good point about not being able to pull the pump by hand after torquing. Yup, the machine work is getting scarce everywhere, but thank goodness for the thick wall 88’s I guess…time will tell. Thanks for checking it out Jimmy.🤙🏼
Great job 👌 I can hardly wait to see you finished 😎
Stay blessed and strong
Thanks a bunch and same to you sir!
Thanks for posting this.
That looks like a really nice full flow set up.
I like it better then my case drill job.
I’ve never had a full flowed case to compare it with. I can say it’s been trouble free since that build, but more time will tell.
Pump looks sweet and great install! 🤙
Nice work brother, CB makes some great products!
Yes sir, in my aircooled journey I’ve tried just about everyone, and CB consistently comes out on top! Thanks for checking it out🤙🏼
That is a beautiful engine and the oil pump makes it pop! Nice work 🤙
Thanks Ted. Yes I was sad to cover that pump with the rear tin! 😔
Cool deal; got one in my car. I believe these studs are to be torqued at 14 ft/lbs but 16 is fine.
Thanks, I must admit that after using it for awhile, I’ve fallen in love with this pump.

What do you think of the pump now? I just picked one up to run a external filter on the build for my wife.

Nice and clean jobs
Thanks!
It looks like the top barb is interfering with the engine mount?

Can’t wait for my build!
Me too! Get er done

Just finished the same job for my 62 bug. What lines/ connections did you use to get to your filter or fan?

@@bomberobus Thanks Bombero!!
Dimanakah saya dapat memebelinya filter oli ini brother?
Did your engine tin clear and not rub the pulley?
No rubbing. The tin came together nicely in and around that area. However, the tin needed some massaging at the exhaust ports.
