Hi, is there a specification for the backlash for the drive gear when inserted into the camshaft slot? cheers

I haven’t seen any specific tolerance given for that in the Bentley Manual

So new pumps come with new plates like the ones you show with the grooves from the gears?

No not in all instances. Covers are often reused, and many people turn them 90 degrees so the wear patterns offset.

It’s better to resurface it, even if all you have is a piece of glass and some sandpaper
