Oh my goodness!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for filming properly. SO so many videos are just barely better than a picture of the engine. Thank you for starting it, revving it, talking about it, and driving it. Not to mention, you actually FLOORED THE ENGINE SO WE CAN SEE A 0 TO 60!!! Dude. the number of times I see a video about a built engine and they dont start it up... or they dont actually floor it... Makes me mad, but this made me happy! Thats one heck of a Baja bug :D do you know what all the parts are for this engine? I want it. I want to know the carbs, head, exhaust, block, transmission, everything! :D
I’m glad it did some justice as to how fun that Bug is! My buddy built that engine. I don’t have those build specs, but It’s a 2276cc. If you look at the builders choice 2276 on CBPERFORMANCE website, I know that it is basically that same engine. He didn’t get to keep that Bug for long. Everybody wanted it and it sold. I’m glad I caught some rides and was able to video it because the thing was scary fun. Glad you enjoyed it🤙🏼
Lol I have the same problem with the accent . Keep up the cool videos I’ve become a fan. Maybe some day I’ll bring my 70 beetle convertible have you put a 2276 in my bug. 😂
Haha we’d sound hilarious trying to have a conversation. In a vert? Now that would be fun, and loud! I slowed down on vids for various reasons, but hope to get some more out. I appreciate ya!
The engine sounds fantastic. So smooth in the revs, yet scary powerful. Nice job. What are your thoughts on a serpentine pulley belt system like on this engine. Besides good looks, is there any advantages or disadvantages? People that have probably never tried one are telling me they cause uneven were on the bearings or some bullshit. Would you recommend a serpentine belt setup.? Thanks Andrew, and don't apologize for anything, sometimes you have to have a little fun.
Thanks Andy. Well I’m not a big fan of the serpentine, but it’s becoming way more popular. It is true that the stock system allows for beneficial “slippage” when you rev it high, so that the fan (which wasn’t designed for that many revs) doesn’t come apart (which it will). So if you drive normal then the serpentine probably doesn’t pose any problems, and looks cool. They are known however for the bearing in the tension pulley to not last long, so you have the added headache of keeping more spare parts along with special belts, in your car to get you home if needed. That car in the vid has an aftermarket welded fan, which is necessary for high revs with a serpentine belt. Bottom line for me is that they do look cool, but I’m keeping that part of my engine stock just because it’s fits a daily driver better. Now that’s an interesting theory you gave about the bearing wear. I can’t speak to that but am curious now 🤔 I’ve also found that I have to see for myself, and you seem that way too. Maybe give it a go on the serpentine and let us know? Either way thanks for checking it out…stay dubbin!
@@bomberobus Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't think about the fan. I guess if it isn't broke and it works I will leave it alone for now. Always dubbin. Just did a repaint of all my engine tin ware to a nice black metallic and spent some coin on braided hose and AN6 fittings. I will post a pic of my engine running in a few weeks.
Just had a 2161 stroker installed into my baywindow. There is a rattlingnoice which is grtting annoying. According to other, the noice cones from chromlypushrods. Is ther validty to this?
Not saying for sure that’s what it is, but it’s Absolutely possible. Those things are noisy, which is why I don’t have them in my engine. I don’t even run straight cut gears for the same reason, but I have an 1800cc. Your 2161 probably benefits from the custom size and strength of chromoly PR’s, but they are noisy for sure. A lot of people claim that the noise diminishes once everything is warmed up. Just my opinions, like I said, I don’t run chromoly, but might try them if I ever build a bigger engine.
@@bomberobus …thanks for response. This engine is brand new build. It has straight cut gears. And steel pushrod. Its during idle, that the rattling noise is evident. Almost like as if my bumper was loose, and the bolt was rattling,.. i cant say i am super thrilled, but this 2161 definieltely makes my bus feel super light. Can go up hill, even on 4th gear, no problem. Will take getting use to.
That’s awesome to hear because I hope to build a bigger engine for the Bus one day. Man it’s so heavy and slow. I’d live for it to feel a bit more light.
Yup, I’ve even had problems with just about all of my regular pulleys too! He said that his pulley kit came with shims and also had to “push the alternator back.”

So cool to see Jim in a blue baha again after all these years! Even cooler to see that engine off the bench and in the car.
No doubt! It was killing me to see that engine on the bench. Guess he was waiting for the right donor dub. I’m just glad to have caught a ride!
That is some serious get-up-n-go from that 2276. Love it.
Yes sir, the vid did not do it justice!
Wow. That’s a VW beast. Great stuff.
Thanks Juan, it is FUN!
Where are you guys located I’m from New Jersey..
Waaaaay down south…Gulf Coast-ish Alabama. That’s why some say I have an accent but it’s not true LOL

MY 2276 DEFINTLY NEEDS TWEAKING, NICE WORK
Thanks man. That’s my buddy’s bug that he built. I merely enjoyed the ride. I’ll bet your 2276 goes pretty good too!
@@bomberobus yup almost smoked a tesla need disc upgrade pronto
That 2276 engine moves. 😎👍
Is this the Jim's VW in Leeds?
Up on the hill?
I'm in Riverside and looking to get back into Bugs.
He’s further south than Leeds I believe, almost to the Coast. Yes to getting back into Bugs! Save them all
What are the sizes of the front/rear tires & wheels?
Looked really fast inside. I’m thinking I want to turbo a 2 liter though.
That would be insane! Which means I love the idea 😂
Omg 😱!!! How could you do this ?! The poor public…. Just kidding bud, I LOVE IT!!! Fun fun fun.. this bug is badass too cool 😎
😂man you know how it is. Gotta let the kiddos know to be careful out there.

@@andyroo3022 looking forward to that. Yeah that hose and fittings is like icing on the cake. I still gotta get around to it.

We not completely crazy 🤫. Jim was all in !! 💨💨
“All In Jim”…..new nickname? 🤔😂😎
@@bomberobus I still like VW Jim. All in Jim when he clownin like that though 🤣
I would like to know how he got that pulley kit to line up the pulleys never line up with those MST kits

@@bomberobus that's just ridiculous I don't even know how you do that🤣
Hey Mike ! when a bus has a hp motor they do wheelies .
LOL anything is possible but we won’t be seeing Roxanne on her hind legs anytime soon.
@@bomberobus just saying???
That's awesome what kind of cam do you have in that motor it's really nice
I can’t say for sure, but I recall it being an FK-8 cam. That engine has been sold since that vid. It was a RIPPER! Thanks for checking it out 🤙🏼
@Bombero Bus VW thank nice. Vw good job
Need some idas
Meh. It’s a street car but yeah they’d work
😁
