My son’s mother ( I adopted him he’s my biological nephew) was caught with him in an active meth lab for 7 days. While she prostituted herself in front of him. ( age3). They took him. I took him in. At age 5 they gave him back to her. She became homeless again 2 months later wnd went from hotel to hotel , man to man. While I screamed that she was off the rails. Finally she was arrested again , they toook him. Gave him back to us. And I made the promise that he’d never go back. If I had to give my life. I’d save him from her. It took a $259 an hour lawyer 2 years to get her rights removed. And to keep him safe. Because every judge she went before. She’d bat her eyes. Cry a little. And he’d give in. She had no lawyer. Just her sob story. She never did jail time for any of the offenses. Just 4 years of probation. If it were a man who did that to a kid. They’d have thrown him under the jail. It was an eye opening experience to just how much a woman can get in court without any representation . Her crying was equal to my $259 an hour lawyer. Absolutely appalling.
