    • @dingai

this is exactly it... misconduct from police is worse than a regular citizen, because they swear an oath to uphold the law and protect the public. they are empowered based on that trust. and yet they so often forget the responsibility to act to a higher standard that comes with this empowerement. this is why lies from police are so damaging to society - destroying trust, and undermining their critical function... They need much more strictness in their internal culture - where is the discipline and integrity? Where is the public, intense shaming that comes from dishonouring your colleagues and undermining the profession???? Officers get away with joyriding with sirens on, just for fun. Repetitive excessive force... Planting evidence on innocent people. Ignoring crimes that affect lower and middle class people like shoplifting and car thefts...

Four officers testified all lied but the widow was disappointed that justice was not done. The real problem in this tragedy resulting in an officers death is police protocol and prejudice. The real problem was the suspect description "HEAVYSET WITH LONG BEARD." How would that description in any way be Umar Zameer? Police need to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to approach citizens so that fear and aggression are not the first emotion felt in an interaction with them.

I bet if that was a civilian run over the police would be walking free as usual, this poor man had to fight for his freedom and wasn't protected by the corruption that defends police officers from misconduct.

Yes, and I saw a case not too long ago where a woman ran into an alley because someone was trying to break in. In the alley, there was a police cruiser with two officers. She banged on the car asking for help. They shot her, because she "scared" them.😕
I guess what's good for the Goose is good for the Gander.

Thanks for the follow up coverage City 24 news. It is necessary to follow-up on an investigation into this breakdown in the police operation and the cover up that followed. The public needs to know. There used to be a system of inquiry that would hold the police accountable and exact actions required. Where has that gone? Is this considered to onerous and costly. What is the cost of the loss in belief in the police. And accountability.

The Toronto police chief and head of the TPA are too cowardly to do the difficult thing and stand up for what is right. This chief and TPA head don't even have "caring about their own members" going for them; in reality they abuse their own members, discriminate against them and have no true loyalty to them; they don't hesitate to throw honourable cops under the bus.

    🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣 Was Justice Served .
The police lie Defence Theory is only tested by their own scene officer's reconstruction of events. There's not enough evidence either way accept for a human body. The judge was sided. It all effected the jury hardened against police and doubting their ability to serve.
If you are approached in the same way during road rage and knock down the person at your window with your car trying to escape in reverse .Leaving 20ft tire treads. Then drag them 20ft going forward under your car like a rolling speed bump. That is dangerous driving causing death. ' risking public safety in a panic situation.'
This should have been included as a 3rd charge.
    Sentence 5 years to life.
