- Part 1 of the 2023 Picos de Europa Motorcycle Tour with ChickenStrips. The Picos de Europa are probably my favourite place in the world to ride a motorcycle, the roads are stunning, the scenery is breathtaking, there's hardly any traffic (most of the time) and the people are amazing.
If you've not been, then you really are missing out.
Hope you enjoy the vid folks, keep SUBSCRIBING, keep SHARING, keep LIKING, and keep letting me know what you think in the COMMENTS section below!

I've ridden all over Europe but Pico's is the best place I've been. Not just the roads and views but just how quiet it was?! Will definitely go back....
Biking bliss 👍
I can't wait for this stage of life, when my kids are older & I have some freedom once more. Good on you Bruce, it looks mega ❤
Great video , what an awesome place to ride.
I’m so jealous right now. Great insight into what to expect from the Picos. Definitely a future trip. Thankyou
It's great watching the tours, both abroad and at home. The stick is always flying between everyone in the group! 😂
Breathtaking! Would a second generation Tiger like it!
A moped would LOVE it - take ANYTHING, just RIDE👍😉
When I can, picos is the top of my list. Lovely place 🎉
Spain is very beautiful. I've watched some other YT rides there, too. Everyone shows a little different take on the scenery.
Expensive but best purchase for riding, a full goretex suit :)
You must have been freaking out riders coming in the other direction Bruce - The only GS rider that acknowledges other bikers!!!!😜😜
Regarding the recall- I was advised that it involved reprogramming the transmission module or the like. Mine has just been done but I will not be able to test for some time. May pay to ask that they reprogram your transmission as it should not do what you described. Cheers Grant Australia
The picos have the best roads I’ve been fortunate enough to have ridden on so far!
Great video again, stunning place to ride and nice to watch to remind me what the sun looks like
Without a doubt, this is the best video on u tube. I did these roads 9 years ago , and now I have to come back. Thank you very much for the reminder. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Been twice and going again in September. Just love it.
Really tempted by the Picos
It’s getting closer now Bruce…..I can almost smell the scent of those eucalyptus trees. The “man down” was a worrying end to a beautifully shot video. I hope nothing too serious 🙏🏻🤞
Cheers Jamie, you’re going to absolutely love it mate. Aye sadly we had an incident but the chat was walking wounded (just🤦♂️)
👍
Picos is a very special place to ride ❤
Certainly is bud
Absolutely stunning, epic tour. What more can I say, great Bruce 👍 this tour is going straight to the top of my bucket list, oh got my teapot one sticker , thank you 👍👍
Thanks Nigel, I can’t recommend the Pico’s enough bud, and cheers for letting me know the sticker arrived ok👍
I'm planning my first European tour and am off (solo) to the Picos in November. This video confirmed its definitely the right location! Slightly trepidatious having never been out the UK on a bike and going solo. Properly excited though. Any advice welcome!
Just go Will, it’s really easy and you’ll have an incredible time.
Have your passport, phone (remember to sort your data out so you can use your phone in Spain without massive charges), your bike logbook and insurance certificate, and make sure you have a UK sticker on display. I think you also need a yellow high viz in your bag somewhere - you need to wear it if you end up broken down at the side of the road in Europe.
Other than that, just hit the road and see what comes your way bud👍
@@teapotone thanks for the tips! Can't wait!! Safe riding
Love these group ride-a-longs, good roads and banter. Be safe.
This is the sort of video I had started following you for. Marvelous. My bucket list for sure.
Brings back so many great memories of my one trip to the Picos in 2022. Id go back every year if I could
Nice one Bruce, would love to do this!
This area is easy to self navigate. The problem now is the cost of the ferry crossing….
100% agree - £1200 for two in September! Sorry I’m not paying that.
I can fly to Tenerife get guaranteed sun and hire a bike for almost the same.
Great roads too.
Love to get there, maybe this year 🤓😎🏍💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻
popped my cherry last october and will be back again may then hopefully again october. Brilliant people brilliant roads just a great place to be on a bike .
Extremely surprised at how polite you said “Peterhead”
Was expecting Peterheed. Superb fella
Looks amazing...another one on my list!!
Stunning! What amazing biking roads, awesome to see and dream
Yea we’re off to the Picos in September for the third time + Portugal… It’s the sort of place that you can’t get bored of…
Off there in July, can't wait. Must get a new action cam! Which way round are you going (clockwise / counter)
Off to Picos and Pyrenees end of May really looking forward to it and watching this just fuels my appetite for it 👍
Awesome, you’ll love it Dave, have a fantastic time 👍
Enjoy...you'll love it...motorcycling nirvana!
Just awesome
Your moment is coming… 😎
Hiya! Was great to meet everyone on the trip, it seems like soooo looong ago now.
The weather wasnt the best unfortunately but fantastic roads either way.
So close yet so far!
Perfect for a week’s first biking trip.
Picos - been there most years since 2010 - going back twice this year - May and September - can’t wait !
On the tour this year, absolutely cannot wait!
That looks well mega 😀 awesome scenery and the roads look so good nae potholes 🤣 I know you’ve got the new GS but did you ever get to bottom of the issues with the recall?
Nope, just seemed that that was the way the drive shaft was now. The 1300 is very similar
621 is my favourite
Before the pandemic on two consecutive years I took the boat in early May with the aim of doing the Picos. On both occasions the weather was so foul and foggy I abandoned it and headed south. My touring time on the bike is limited and I can do cold, wet, foggy and miserable in the UK anytime! 😁. Anywhere in Spain is brilliant to ride but my favourite are the Sierra's between Alicante and Valencia - early rides of 5-6 hours duration and then pool in the late afternoon. 😎🩳
Great memories of the Picos trips Brucie. My fave is the canyon road.
I want to go!
Looks like a properly trick bit of road there, Bruce! didn't make it to the Picos on my trip, this video makes me which i had taken my silky smooth KTM quick shifter into Spain though 😆
Jealous. Was there in 2021 as soon as we could travel. It’s was my second Euro tour and it set the bar very high! Haven’t found anywhere quite like it since. Hoping Austria and Italy might compete this year.
I went to the Picos in 2023 while I was in Spain. Inspired by your videos and others. 100% going back next year! Oh by the way! You were supposed to send me dates! Nag! 😘
Great trip. Did the Picos and norther half of the Pyrenees last Sep (without any rain!). Route maps or gpx files would be great look at.
You can buy the them off Simon Weirs website at simonweir.co.uk
A wonderfull region and for sure some fantastic roads? Again a new area to put on the "to do" list...OMG, I might be driving till i am 80...
I live in Los Angeles; we have amazing riding from the west of Calgary to the west of Mexico City north to south, but I am obsessed with the idea of buying and leaving a bike in Spain somewhere to ride these roads and the Alps (plus all the off-roading in Andalucia). Bruce you need to set-up a "Toro North" so I can leave a bike in your garage :)
We've been twice now, our sticker is up by the deer statue. Such a brilliant place to ride a motorcycle. Glad the weather cleared up for you and the boys
Ace, a new series - thanks. Dramatic end, hope he’s ok.
Cheers, aye he’s all good now 👍
Hi Bruce great video , thanks for taking us along. It's great to hear the banta again. Take care safe rides 😊
I rode that deer statue road in October... great ride.. till it started snowing heavily! right about where that statue is :)
Brilliant content Bruce. Your skills at editing make it a great watch. Really enjoyed it, as it just flows like the roads. love watching these trips, even though I always ride alone. Allergic to drama.
Keep up the good work fella. The time and effort you put in, really shows in the video's.
That’s very kind of you to say Gareth, but this series is actually being edited by my son😉
He’s started doing some vids for me of late, his edits have a slightly different start and end sequence to mine 👍
@@teapotone he’s doing a grand job mate
Superb, one day I'll get over there :-)
Great vid again Bruce. And the Clan chatter was good too. Stay safe guys 👍...
I cannot wait until Picos in November...
Be good to have a quick look at what bikes your groups are riding ! Another brilliant vlog !!
Been there once. Love it. Very nice roads. 👌
Fab video, I have never been to Picos but I want to now 😁
Great vid mate. Brings back some happy memories 👍🏻🍺
Hopefully going to get there this year, looks amazing.
Great vid again Bruce 👍 Although great routes and scenery make it easier 😉 Is LE451 is really better than the N621 or N625 CA281 ? God, that’s another one to add to the routes down there (loved it so much we’re getting back there next summer) ! So many of them. BTW, it was a pleasure meeting you IRL at Hotel Infantado ✌️
Hello mate!
Aye I love that road, but I usually do it West to East, great fun at speed 👍
Great vid mate some great memories with a good bunch of lads looking forward to the next instalment 👍
Looks amazing over there Bruce. I hope the lad that has come of in the next episode is all ok and just his pride damaged 👍👍
Brilliant video again Bruce I can’t wait to go back ,hope the man down was ok mate 👍
Absolutely love the Picos and Northern Spain. The road into & out of Cain de Valdeon is special. Heading back in May for a couple of week's. The only downside is the 10hour drag up and down to Portsmouth from Banchory, but its worth it
Really enjoyed our tour back in 2019? Hope to return sometime with our Stuart.
Loving the videos as always, the Picos is certainly someone on my list to visit.
Thanks bud, aye it’s just a biking heaven there 👍
loving the videos, i just found this channel and i apparently live around the corner from you, i got my CBT in ayelsford coming up, thought it's about time i got a bike licence
Hello bud, really! Say hello then if you see me 👍
Another great video m8, the roads in Spain really are a treat when you’re used to the bomb cratered roads in Scotland!
Got me looking at Picos next year, will keep my eyes peeled for ur ‘25 trip if it goes ahead 👍
Looks a great place
🤘👍👍👍🤘
spot on as always bruce. love dales commentary. Did Luke behave himself 🤣🤣. hope your man who went down was okay.
Asturias has over 200+ beaches to enjoy after a hard day in the saddle, Ribadesella is my favourite base.
On my plate to do with the Mrs in early September. A brief outline of the roads you guys are taking would be great for us to see/use, loving it 😎
Can't wait for October now 😂❤
Ha Ha me either mate 👍
Me to,can’t wait 👍
Fantastic video pal. My mate and I are hoping to go this year. Hope your 'man down' is OK.
Looks beautiful, didn’t see a bad road potholes are nonexistent send this video to all governments of the UK see if you can embarrass them
Love the picos , would love to go back one day , fecking ferry prices are deterring us 😩
Really enjoy your pico videos looks really good but not been watching must lately as I’ve been off the bike for a year but hopefully back on it soon
Good videos keep up the good work
Cheers Alan, hope you get to swing a leg back over soon.
Glad you enjoyed the vid.
Cheers👍
AMAZING!! One of the videos I always want to watch, as I'm planning a trip there in a near future. Thanks for sharing Bruce, and if possible, can you please share the gpx file or any kind of map of your visiting places? If so, thank you, it would be highly appreciated! Bring on the beer, Bruce is on the road again!! 👍👍
You get the full gpx route maps if you come on tour bud, so I won’t share them for free as it’s part of my business.
However, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to sit and go threw the vids and piece together the road numbers and place names to work out the route 👍
Or just drop Simonweir.co.uk a line and he’ll make you up a route for a couple of quid 👍
@@teapotone thanks for the info Bruce, I'll check Simon's website. 👍👍
The hi viz vest made me laugh 😂 who signed it fat lad.
Cracking video I’d love to ride those roads one day
Looks amazing, love the content. Me and a friend are planning to "van" two bikes down to Spain in 2025 and ride around Spain for 2 weeks alteast. We had Picos de Europa as one of the destination. This is really inspiring same as your, around the world on the gsxr!!
Awesome. Do it. You’ll never regret it 👍
Hi Bruce. Cracking video (as per usual) but can I ask: can you add road numbers to the vlogg? Cheers
Great video, wetting my appetite to go try these roads for myself. As a suggestion I personally enjoy hearing the comms while watching the scenery going bye, don't know if that could be a thing a little more. You cant beat a bit of banter.
Great vid as usual. Collecting my (new to me) BMW R1200R LC from Bordeaux out of my nephew's van who is working in Bordeaux. Then along with his 675R off to Pyrenees and if weather good the Picos, if not, it'll be a meandering ride home to Alicante region chasing the sun.
Great videos!
Are you happy with the Rukka suit?
Greetings from northern Sweden!
Thanks bud, appreciate that 👍
Yep I still love the Nivala suit, it’s not let me down in almost 4yrs of ownership now.
Looks amazing ! What time of year was this pls ? I'm going late April so fingers crossed with the weather .
Looks amazing Bruce 👍 going to Aragon area later this year, but Picos could be the place to be next year….
Coming to see you on Friday night in Derby btw, hope to say Hi 👍.
Definitively on the bucket list, perhaps for this summer. Could you be inspired to offer a route for this trip? Thank you for sharing
Certainly - if you buy a place on the tour you get the route FREE 😉
You can buy the route for a couple of quid off Simon’s website at simonweir.co.uk
I saw you on the ferry last year going over was to polite to interrupt saw the ballon man also great channel 👋
Great place to ride, fantastic beaches can be wet , but the ferry to Santander is getting expensive.
Looks surprisingly green. The rain looked familiar too, was there any midges?😀😀
Potes....we were there last year, stayed down the road in the Valdecoro....I think you stayed there on a previous trip??...Love the Picos!!
I'm after your opinion - I did the Pico's in 2017 & 2019 solo on my Honda crosstourer DCT Highlander and apart from the top heaviness of the bike I thoroughly enjoyed it. Due to advancing years and the aforementioned weight issues I traded it for a new NC750x DCT with full luggage. Do you estimate the NC will have the capability to do this trip again?
Aye of course, the NC would do it no worries bud 👍
I like fooood and some culture, even a bit more of stays/bars/banter. Not too much...just enough to separate each day's riding and break up the road views.
What’s the Picos like in May. Considering going on a trip then.
Great, I’m going next week
Picos definitely on my list to do, just deciding when, and whether to go self guided with a mate, or in a group. What time of year was this trip?
Great roads in a beautiful part of Spain. What a way to finish the vid though. 😳
Hope the "man down" is ok.
