    Fun fact: Hulk’s strength typically starts at a lower level than Abomination’s, but Hulk’s strength (and sometimes his size) increases with his rage. And since he’s literally a rage monster that only gets angrier if you annoy him, his potential strength is unlimited. That’s why you see him suddenly overpower Blonsky near the end as his eyes flash a brighter green.

    Fun facts: Aside from Brazil, the bulk of this movie was shot between Toronto and Hamilton Ontario.
    -The Mayor of Toronto shutdown a section of Younge Street for the end fight scene because he was a die hard HULK fan.
    -The bottling factory was a decommissioned factory in Hamilton that was slated for demolition, so they could do as much damage as they wanted without having to worry about clean up.
    -The factories offices doubled for all the government offices and hospital rooms.
    -The University of Toronto and Knox College doubled for Culver University.
    -The Military base was a real base in Trento Ontario Canada.
    -The Humvee flipping over, was *an on site accident* that they kept. Apparently the ground was soft, the tire dug into it and the whole vehicle just flipped over, to the shock of everyone.
    -The man on TV who gets hit with the boxing glove was the Late *Bill Bixby* who played the TV Banner and the great big guard was *Lou Ferrigno* who played the TV HULK.
    -The witnesses Jim Wilson and Jack McGee are from the HULK's lore. Wilson is a friend of the HULK in the comics. McGee is the reporter who chases the HULK in the TV show.
    Oh... Did you happen to notice all the green objects in this movie?
    That was on purpose.
    The director wanted something green in every shot.

      Probably true, but I get the sense that Blonsky was always power-hungry. This was just the first time he realized that super-soldier dosing was a viable path towards that goal.
      He's your basic anime "warrior who only cares about a good fight" stock character, of the type parodied by One Punch Man. Which is not to say that he doesn't do his narrative job well (and Tim Roth really sells it; I've always felt he's fairly underrated), but that there aren't necessarily a lot of layers there. Which, again, is fine; this story's about Hulk, not Abomination.

    Nowadays, the meaning of the word "hulk" is often associated directly with this character. However, prior to the green guy's existence, the word still meant someone or something that was large, heavy, and/or clumsy -- and it does retain that meaning today, especially when used in the adjective form ("hulking"). Strangely enough, the word's origin appears to have been in reference to a derelict ship repurposed for some sort of stationary use.

    • @michaelccozens
      @michaelccozens Год назад

      That's semi-true, but it's a bit more complicated. The way it happened, IIRC, is that a variation of Super Glue was developed for field use in combat medicine during Vietnam, with the aim of keeping the injured from bleeding-out until they could be gotten to one of the mobile surgical units (eg MASH). There's a very, uh, committed pro wrestler who goes by Sabu ("homicidal, suicidal, genocidal") who is covered with distinctive long scars due to a razor-wire match gone wrong and his self-treatment with Super Glue in response. Given the size of the apparent injuries, I guess it worked pretty well.
      But, yeah; closing an unwashed wound is definitely a bad idea over more than a very short period of time. But bleeding does also do that "washing" job to a degree, so maybe it's accurate here, with a very simple and superficial cut (assuming Bruce is up-to-date on tetanus)? I'm no doctor.

      "Lie to Me" was a good show, and Roth, as always, was great in it. Unfortunately, the guy it was based on, and the "science" he claimed to grasp, was total hokum, not that he didn't make a good living selling the bunk to law-enforcement anyway (forensic "science" is a complete joke. "Fascist window-dressing" is likely the best general summary of its sordid history). If you like that sort of "Sherlock" character, though, you might enjoy Simon Baker in "The Mentalist". It has a much more solid scientific basis, which is a bit ironic, as it's about the art of deception. On the other hand, if cold readers weren't effective, they didn't eat, so that does motivate.
      A recent Gary Oldman project is the Apple show "Slow Horses", based on a series of British spy-thriller novels about what happens to the spies who screw-up too badly to be given any real responsibility. It's darkly comedic, but the violence is not lingered-upon, which is appreciated. I think you can get the first ep free on Apple TV, if you would like a sample. Highly recommended!

    Ross gave Blonsky the Captain America formula. Then mixed it with Hulk's gamma blood in the end to create The Abomination. And the gamma blood dripping down into Mr Blue's head wound was supposed to be the starting to Brainiac, but they never followed through with it.

    I'm glad you enjoyed the movie 🥰 You are also one of the few who figures out that the dog was tranquilized. You can see the darts being shot on the bed when they thought Bruce was in it, then you actually see the dart stuck on the dog... Later you can see they try to dart the Hulk as well and they all bounce off. And one more, when he shot the dog you can hear it's almost like the sound of a slingshot which presumably it's an air gun that shoots the dart. Most people just miss all this. Also there was a television show about the Hulk and Banner played by Bill Bixby who is always on the run going from place to place and there is a piano theme song that follows him and is pretty sad, they are playing off of this in the movie you can see in some scenes he is portrayed as alone, on the run, always moving from place to place. I think he always has a backpack. When he turns into the Hulk the actor is that security guard which they gave him a cameo in this movie, Lou Ferrigno that's why he's all buff.

    • @mannygee005
      @mannygee005 Год назад

      Here I found the piano theme song, it's called "The Lonely Man" which is David Bruce Banner's theme in the television series The Incredible Hulk, it was famous in its time - the theme ( ruclips.net/video/k_lYcTxncNg/видео.html ). Basically the Hulk is shunned as a monster and hounded by man... and Bruce must stay in hiding and always on the run, going from place to place having different adventures and he also must keep everyone safe from the monster within him... and so he carries the burden alone, ever alone, and he must always leave every town that he finds a connection with, he must leave for their safety... the sad piano theme starts playing as he walks away.
      This is one of the reasons that contribute to why this movie has a different feeling from the other MCU movies.
      Edit - while we're at it, here is a spoof of the origin of Hulk, except it's played by Stewie Griffin ( ruclips.net/video/4n__TRVpBeI/видео.html ) and here Stewie wants to walk away while the sad piano song is playing ( ruclips.net/video/rnRjeFwNFis/видео.html )

    Difference between the Hulk and The Abomination is that yes he may be bigger and stronger in their base form but Hulk was created from gamma mutating his already enhanced cells which was passed down from his abusive father who experimented on himself using gamma radiation. Bruce was born with the dormant gamma blood which reacts when his emotions trigger it. Meaning he can theoretically keep getting stronger as long as he keeps getting more and more angry. The abomination is stuck in his current peak. You see this when they are both holding each others arms and hulk looks over at Betty and his fear of losing her gives him the anger to build up strength and overpower him.
    Id personally reccomend watching the 2003 film because it shows Bruce's dark childhood which ultimately builds up his Hulk character and just fleshes out his backstory for both him and Hulk.

    in the comics the Hulk's pants are always purple. in reality it was done for consistency & to make him more recognizable (& green & purple are complementary colors (fun fact: in the first couple issues the Hulk was grey but a fault in the coloring process made him green)) but in the comics there were a number of capers to explain it in-universe. mostly they had to do with Bruce obtaining various improbably large inventories of purple pants; on sale, in a train that just crashed, you name it. it was Stan Lee himself who came up with the best explanation, that gamma rays the Hulk gave off could turn pants purple (!).
