    Also fun fact: Tony eating cheese burgers is actually a call back to one of Robert Downy Jr's road to rehab. When he was younger in his acting career, Robert got into a lot of drugs and went to a pretty dark place. One time he went to Burger King and said that the burger was so disgusting, it actually gave him a moment of clarity. In that moment he decided to clean himself up. From there I think he threw his drugs into the trash or the ocean (I forget) and then checked himself into a rehab clinic.

    The story of the first Iron Man suit is pretty much as it was originally, down to Yinsen's fate. It's merely been updated from Vietnam War era (around when Iron Man made his first comic appearance) to the Gulf War era. And Yinsen isn't a killer and doesn't want to be. He's buying time, but he doesn't want to take life. Yinsen: the first big hero in the Iron Man story.

      Also, Burger King is awesome. If I've just made it out of a near death experience nobody better come at me with McDonald's cos there'll be hell to pay. And while 5 guys is good, I don't want a burger that is that messy when I've only got one fully functional arm and I'm wearing a suit.

    13:15 Yinsen chased after them because he knew Tony needed more time. The three men ran from Yinsen because they heard an automatic weapon being fired towards them and they had no cover. These guys are most likely more focused on keeping themselves alive than neutralizing their target and who knows how much training they had. Also, they knew they had backup behind them.

    fun fact: in comics for a very long time even big avengers hid their true identity, like tony. The two biggest avengers are iron man and captain america but tony only revealed his identity to him in avengers #216, and only decades later in 2002 did tony reveal to the public that he is iron man (the character was created in 1963). So the movies improved a lot on his character as you can see at the end of the movie. His popularity wasn't on the level of spiderman, fantastic four or x-men, but this movie made ironman one of the best characters.

    Hulk/Bruce Banner is also recast after the Incredible Hulk movie onwards.

  • @Caseytify
    @Caseytify Год назад +2

    I can't believe I missed this before! So much fun.
    Iron Man looks like a ballerina because in the MCU he uses both his glove & boot thrusters to fly & steer. In the comics he usually just had boot thrusters, but maybe they decided that was relatively unrealistic.
    As you saw, he discovered the fact that his glove thrusters could also be used as weapons.
    ... You suffer from a misconception; weapons don't make wars. It's the other way around. Also the movie is very misleading about US arms exports; they're very stringently controlled, especially high tech stuff. That's why Congress was hesitant to allow Israel to buy the F-22. They were concerned that the Russians & Chinese might gain access to the tech.
    BTW, Obadiah did the arguable moral thing with that injunction. It wasn't clear, But Stark Enterprises is publicly owned, so the CEO and board of directors have a financial responsibility to the stockholders. Note that the share values dropped over 40% after Tony's announcement. That's money out of the pockets of the stockholders.
    Obadiah had nothing to do with Tony's parents death. You'll eventually find out what happened.
    ... Don't know if you caught the joke when Rhodey complained about Tony being late for the flight: "I got caught doing a piece for Vanity Fair."
    Tony starts out as irresponsible playboy, but his character arc spans 10 years.

    Your Infinity War reaction popped in my feed, so I decided to watch yours from the beginning. Dont worry about living under a rock with the MCU. I watched Iron Man 1 when it first came out because I saw a tv advert for it as a kid and asked my mom. I had no idea outside of that one advert about the MCU, I only knew about a sequel for it and watched that too then didn't watch another one until around 1.5-2 years ago. I just binged all of them in order to catch up. Granted I was like 8 at the time, but that doesn't excuse that I actively decided not to "right" my wrong by watching the MCU knowing full well that Iron Man 1 started it at the age of 22.

I was never a huge Iron Man fan in the comics so I really wasn't expecting much and was completely blown away by how great this was. But then in the post credits scene saying they were going to be putting together the Avengers, it seemed so huge, nothing like that had ever been done before. It was very exciting as they then started announcing the plans for the MCU and we were left wondering how they were going to pull all this off.

    I love the comics & the MCU is so much more clever than most people give it credit for. They give original stories with classic characters, they get the characters right (mostly lol), but they also add many nods back to the comics. So even if you are a true comic fan you never 100% know what to expect. Just one example, in the comics Iron Mans identity wasn't known, but he was always showing up, the cover story, so Tony could keep his identity secret, was that Iron Man was Tony's bodyguard. These sorts of things, references, nods, twists run through the MCU, welcome to the MCU marathon lol

    The Mk I suit (the one he built in the cave) is the precursor to the Iron Monger suit that Obi builds. The Mk II flight suit is destined to be the War Machine armor (hinted at when Rhodey looks at it and says "Next time, baby"). The Mk III suit up sequence in this film is likely the BEST in all of cinema, it's so badass, gives the suit a real presence and how it's not just some cheap little gimmick armor or something, it's ARMOR.

    I feel like a lot of people in the comments were probably too young to recall this but since I'm like a million years old I thought I'd mention that the guy from the financial show that yells at the camera and talks about the new "Stark Industries business plan!" at about 18:30 into the video, that's not an actor. There's an actual show called 'Mad Money' on MSNBC. The guy talks about finance and stock trading and his schtick was shouting into the camera and he had a sound board that he could hit a button and all sorts of loud noises would be played. Presumably it was to keep people occupied who cared about stock but found it too boring. It still airs but since it's now been on the air for 18 years they have long since dropped the yelling as it's kind of tough to keep that up for almost 2 decades. Jon Stewart shamed the hell out of the guy too so his ego might have taken a hit which could have cause him to not be as loud with his forecasts. He shouted that people would be stupid to take money from Bear Stearns right before the 2008 financial crash and people lost a lot of money because of what he said. Somehow he still has a job so make of that what you will.

    The arc reactor is like a feat in human engineering you really don’t understand how powerful it is he has enough energy in that tiny arc reactor in his chest to power a city and the reason it’s so ground breaking is it’s an impossible build it’s a self sustaining clean energy source meaning most machines use energy to operate and this one uses its own energy and doesn’t lose energetic over time actually makes more and more the only thing keeping it from killing Jim’s is that it has a constant drain because it’s also an electromagnet keeping the shrapnel from entering his heart and killing him

    It always hits me how the entire MCU ends before it begins if not for Yinsen. His saving Tony's life set everything else in motion and, of course, that's important 20+ films from now.

      In-universe, Tony Stark barely set anything in motion. His only net contributions are negative since almost every villain he defeats is one he helped create, and hundreds of people were hurt by those villains.

    You may have already answered your question why Pepper wouldn't use the tank: she is not trained in it and a tank operates very different from other vehicles. Driving it would be a problem on its own and to use the gun, you would need another person (tank crews usually consist of 4-5 people, all with very specific roles - see "Fury" for example. But you definitely need a driver and a gunner). At best it would be a somewhat safe hiding spot, but there is no guarantee that Obidiah's suit wouldn't be able to destroy it (it's got missiles and stuff).

    • @emme
      @emme  2 года назад +1

      thanks for your comment! i obviously don't know anything about tanks and tons of people have said that she can't use it by herself but have not explained why, and your description was super detailed so thank you! i had no idea that it would require both a driver and a gunner i was really thinking she could just run in there and use the gun LOL

    Nick Fury in the Original comics was white originally but in the 2000's in an issue of Spider-Man the artists based their interpretation of Nick Fury on Samuel L Jackson from his character from the movie Shaft, (It is also to be noted that this Nick Fury was from another Timeline in the comics so they made the change to reflect things are a lil different.) Staying after the credits became the norm with these films Before the Odd film would have an after credit but not often. I used to manage a Movie Theater when this was out and the staff we would put on a film a few days before it came out and watch em after the site was closed (Staff Previews) We saw the film and walked out not watching the after credit as we were in the car park chilling and smoking at 4am in the morning after the film, the Projectionist walks over to say goodbye before going to his car and says there is an end credit scene and that Larence Fishburn shows up with an eye patch at the end. Myself and a friend were like SHIT eye patch Nick Fury is IN THE MOVIE and then discussed how it would have been better if it was Samuel L Jackson because of the comics. The Next day we watched the film again on opening night and Cheered hard that it was actually Samuel L and that the projectionist was mistaken.

    Btw, you were right in two ways at the end. Tony didn't stick to the script because ROBERT DOWNEY didn't stick to the script. He thought
    it would be cool to just say "I AM Iron Man." and it worked so perfectly, Jon Favreau kept it in. Nobody knew how important this improv'd
    line would be later on...
