Alice Honestly the spf in foundation isn't really enough to protect your face. I'll have a look in my collection though. I'm sure I have a few with spf15-20 x Could be worth you having a look at better spf for before hand. Also layering spf say in moisturiser, then primer then foundation for example doesn't add any more protection the way you'd expect it would. I don`t understand the SPF thing, because for me make up with SPF does protect the skin.Probably not in really hot desert environments but europe in summer, totally.
I bought all of these on your recommendation Lisa, (not all at once!). I can confirm that they are all wonderful for dry skin and all a joy to use. It's a nice range of coverage too: from light to medium/full.
GREAT VIDEO! I am 35 and my skin has been dry as a bone all my life. Good thing about it is that nothing will grow on my face - ever! No spots, no acne, no blackheads, no irritation, no nothing ;) Bad thing: cheeks are always a little red and my skin is just superdry, ie no glowy looks for me. But this video made me buy both Bobbi Brown products: the foundation stick (that I love and carry around cos its handy and fits in my very small handbag) and the - and this ist THE BEST EVER - tinted moisterizing balm. I dont like the smell of it but what it does to my skin is simply incredible. Finally, I can have a dewy looking skin day and nobody will notice product on my skin. Since I dont wear foundation ever but sometimes want to cancel out the redness on my cheeks, this is THE ultimate solution for me! THANK YOU, LISA!
That Bobbie Brown Tinted Balm is AMAZINGGGG! I've been using it for almost a year and a half now and have never regretted investing in it. 1 pot has lasted me a year too. It's so luxurious to use, because it smells so unbelievably beautiful.
I would love an update on this video! I have very dehydrated skin without much redness or flaky patches but my skin just drinks foundation and makes a dewy foundation look matte!
I went out and bought the bourjois healthy mix serum foundation after watching this video. Literally, it is AMAZING. I have really dry patches over my forehead, cheeks and chin and it looks so good on my skin. It feels great, it feels like I have nothing on yet gives a great coverage. Seriously, IT IS SO GOOD! Thank you Lisa :)
I have Normal to Dry skin and I highly recommend the Chanel Vitalumiere. One pump is all you need for your whole face and you can build up the coverage. The radiance this foundation gives is absolutely gorgeous especially on my dull lackluster skin. I completely agree with Lisa on this recommendation ~
I've written down every suggestion you've made. Now, could you please give us the list of products you have on your face and nails? You look absolutely radiant!
I have a video about organic/natural brands. Only issue is the lack of shades of liquid/cream foundation that are available. Have a look at the video X
I have been using the Bobbi Brown foundation stick for years now and it is really awesome. I almost use it everyday and the stick lasts around 6 month so it's worth the money!
Even I have combination skin I use the bobbi brown foundation stick for years now. Just love it! It blends pretty well and I don't look shiny if I set some powder on my t-zone.
I absolutely LOVE the Chanel Vitalumiere for my dry skin, specially during winter. Another of my options for a higher coverage is MAC Studio Sculpt, plus it isn't as pricey so I like it for my daily use.
i have been wearing laura mercier silk cream for years now and still love it. i recently started mixing i with becca shimmering skin perfector in pearl and they are a stunning combo!
This is the best thing ever! I have a history of eczema on my face and am often applying layers of almond and coconut oil before even going near a foundation but the Bobbi Brown sounds perfect! Thank you so much Lisa.As soon as payday comes around, I'll be heading down to Bobbi Brown ready to get matched up. You absolute angel xxx
I started using Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation because of your earlier videos and reviews and I have to say it's the first foundation I've ever truly loved wearing. So light and natural-looking and the price is pretty good (more expensive in Canada, but at least I don't have to wait for shipping). Thanks for doing this!
Thank you! I found this really helpful as I have very bad eczema and extremely dry skin and can never find a foundation that is moisturizing and doesn't cling to the dry skin on my face. Will definitely try out these products. Thanks Lisa xxx
Thank you Lisa, through this series I found that I should wait for all the videos because in each one you just answered some of my questions. So I'm using them as references. Good Luck
I cannot thank you enough, lisa. I've been struggeling with my very dry, flakey and sensitive skin for years and years. No make up would look good on my skin. I'll definitely have a look at the laura mercier and the bobbi brown foundation you mention in this video. chanel's vitalumiere is my current foundation but it is a bit too sheer to cover my rednesses. thank you so, so much!!!
Hi, Lisa! Thank you very much for your time. These videos are really helpful and I enjoy every bit of advice from the brilliant make up artist you are. Looking forward to the rest of the tutorials on foundation. Love from Spain.
Lisa, I can't thank you enough for making this video and the others in the series. I have very pale skin that is usually much lighter than most brand's lightest shades and trying to find a match is enough a challenge but is near impossible once you factor in my dry skin as well. Long story short I really appreciate the info, and I've found it very helpful. Thanks again and hope you had a great weekend!
I live in western Canada, where it is always dry, but particularly during the winter. Since I have to bus everywhere (thus, I am often outside in really harsh weather, with wind, my scarf, and a constantly dripping nose affecting my makeup), and then I go into the heated indoors which has an incredible drying effect on my already naturally dry skin, I just feel like I want to crawl out of my skin even on the best of days. I apply a ton of moisturizer each day, use lots of conditioner on my hair, and do my makeup the best I can, but it never seems to survive even a few hours into the workplace (where I cannot bring a humidifier). As brilliant as I look in the mornings, my face looks dull, tired, patchy, and red (in the dry corners) by the afternoon. I will definitely look into these foundations, thanks!
I SO AGREE with you LN! I also live in western canada and the cold winters completely strips away all the moisture in my face, leaving it dry red itchy and just gross and i hate the feeling i get when i have dry skin that i can't fix! i use a bunch of stuff too, even olive oil that i spread all ovr my face and im honestly waiting for a miracle to happen so tht all my dryness can magically disappear :( anyway i think i will try the healthy mix foundation, seems like it will work for us! good luck to u gurl hope ur skin gets better!
emma pemma The struggle is real haha. "Cold winters completely strips away all the moisture in my face"; stripping is the most appropriate word here, for sure! The dry, red, itch is the worst! I absolutely love the healthy mix foundation, though its colour selection is super limited unfortunately, but it feels (and looks) amazing on, and it smells gorgeous :D I've only been able to find it at (select) Shoppers Drug Mart, in Alberta at least. Thanks!
I've lived on the prairies and now live in Eastern Canada and work in the Arctic. It is such a challenge to adapt to such changes. I have found using a moisturizing spray (mac has one but others are avail) before moisturizing & applying foundation helps & I finish with the spray too. IN between I do a gentle scrub with brown sugar and honey and it takes off the dry stuff at the end of the day. And drinks LOTS of water- hydration starts in the body. Good luck :)
I have never worn liquid foundation until the past year really because my skin has gotten so dry and I made my Dad get me the Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation from Canada because we don't have it in the US unfortunately and I love it. I also have been liking a sample of the benefit oxygen foundation. I do have yellow undertones so for me its not too yellow and it looks like my skin but better. Love these series Lisa.
thank you so much for addressing foundations for dry skin and also mature skin, often neglected in this particular format (RUclips). Its great to see options to try. I've watched all of your videos in this series and they have been so useful. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!!! :)
I have very, very dry skin and I like the Vitalumiere Aqua which is a thinner texture to the one mentioned here but I find it starts to flake during the day even when I prime. But I have only just discovered Nars Sheer Glow it is AMAZING. Beautifully glowy without being wet to touch and no flaking at all even when I rub it! By the end of the day it looks fantastic still 10/10.
I have dry skin with a lot of spot marks and redness and I love the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. It works great on dry skin as well unless u use good and enough skin care product and SPF befor aplying it.
Thank you very much, for all the videos, and for this one in particular! I have dry skin and is not easy to find the right foundation, as the most popular ones are made for combination or oily skin! It has very helpful!
After watching this video I bought Bobbi Brown - Tinted Moisturising Balm for summer and Laura Mercier - Creme Smooth Foundation. My skin feels during the day (I have rosacea as well) - Right on the money about CSF covering redness - really nice. My first RUclips inspired purchase. Now I need a good blush for dry skin!
I absolutely agree with the Bobbie Brown stick one. As someone with such dry skin that it actually burns in the winter, I cannot recommend it enough. Especially if you have a good primer. I love the Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer, because it's just a joy to apply the stick and get the flawles effect that I so crave. Also I am so pale that I reflect sunlight and this goes light enough for me. Great color range. And I am also really sensitive and this has caused no adverse reactions.
I am absolutely loving this series! Thank you so much for taking the time to cover the basics. And you look so beautiful in this video. Gorgeous as ever!
I wear Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (with Face Atelier Zero Minus, because I am very pale) and also have rather dry skin. And I really really like it. In the daylight the skin looks so flawless...
I'm so grateful for this series it really covers everything! I enrolled to makeup school and I hope that one day I can be as an amazing and talented MUA as you are Lisa! You inspire and encourage me so much! Thank you!
I paid 50 USD for the Tinted Moisterizing Balm by Bobbi Brown while I was in the US. Let me tell you that this was the best investment ever! I had watched your video, Lisa, and I decided to try it. I never wear foundation since I have quite good skin for my 36 years. The balm is my holy grail now since it gives my very dry skin such a nice glow and smoothness! I LOVE IT!!!!! Thank you !
I can't thank you enough lisa, I've bought the bobbi brown moisturising balm after watching this video, and it is perfect for my dry eczema skin. It doesn't get caught in the flaky bits and the glow helps me look more alive :) thank u xox
I love Healthy Mix Serum and Bobbi Brown Stick foundations for my dry skin. Both can be thinned out and only used to conceal larger areas or built up to medium coverage. Sometimes I'll used them together - a thin layer of Healthy Mix Serum all over followed by Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation on larger areas that may need a little more to give myself a more flawless night-out look. Dry skin girls should give these a go!
There are so many I want to try now! Thanks so much for this vid. It's hard buying so many foundations that just don't work with dry skin. These suggestions help a ton!
I was waiting for this! I used to use Chanel's pro lumiere, but I didn't switch to Perfecton Lumiere when they discontinued it. I'm now thinking of trying out Vitalumiere, if only for the smell. If it's similar to Pro Lumiere, I'll love it. Thank you for these series, Lisa, they've been so helpful!
This helped so much, I hate feeling like I'm covered in makeup because I'm not used to it and I can get allergic reactions from it. Usually I don't wear foundation but I'd like to have one around for special occasions, and with my dry skin (eczema related) I have to be careful with what to go for. Thank you so much! xx
I have loved the bourjois healthy mix serum for a while now, but definitely open to trying some of those high end options when I come in to some money in day... Can't wait!
Thank you Lisa ! It has helped me so much. I have always had dry skin and have never been able to find the right foundation for my skin but i am definitely gonna try the Bourjois foundation and see how it goes.... Xx
Wish list: 1. Review of mineral foundations (that don't contain Bismuth Oxychloride, which does damages that are irreversible), like Lily Lolo, Barefaced Beauty and Everyday Minerals (Bare Minerals and others contain Bismuth!). 2. Foundation tips for ppl with serious skin conditions like Rosacea, Eczema and Psoriasis. 3. Tips for ppl who are "impossible" to match as we're neither black nor white (Persian, Afghan, Pakistani, Latinas, Arab, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Spanish etc.). We can have anything from pitch black hair and blue eyes or brown hair and brown eyes. And some are blonde with midtone skin and brown eyes (many Turks for ex.). The range is insane! MUAs at makeup counters always seem to want to make us more yellow, grey or tanned. And "at home" MUAs make us too pale and "ghostly". But we just want a perfect match. 4. Tips for 40+ ladies. 5. Great products for ppl on a very limited budget. 6. Specific product comparison, like "best gel liners" or "best cream blushes".
I watched this video when it first launched and come back to it when it’s time for a new foundation. I would love if you could do an update if some newer foundations. Xx
Lisa, I hope with all my heart that you read this! :) I have learnt SO MUCH from you and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! Please never stop making these tutorials. You're the BEST on YT! I just want to tell you that I listened to your advice about not covering up everything when suffering from acne or scarring. So instead of buying a foundation for oily skin, I bought Vitalumière. It doesn't cover everything but it's buildable, esp. with a stippling brush. For the first time, my acne ridden face looked dewy, presentable and just really nice! And the products coming on top, like blusher, also looked much better. Usually, the skin starts to flake by that time, if I use a matte foundtn. I've learnt that foundations for oily skin just made my skin produce more oil as a compensation for the oil that was being matted down. Please Lisa, make tutorials about the following below, in my 2nd comment. Thanks a bunch, big hug!
Hey Lisa .. You are awesome chic. Really coming up with very helpful and lovable videos. I'm sure young women will find your tips very useful. I appreciate your efforts !
A good alternative to bobbi brown balm is the extra repair foundation if you want a foundation with more coverage, it's in the same extra repair line, just the foundation version! I have both and love them for my dry skin
I too have used the vitalumiere from chanel since it came out - have tried other ones, but is still my favourite and covers my skin beautifully. I often get asked why I don't have "foundation lines" - it just covers so well, and of course proper blending...lol
Very informative and useful even though I have combi skin but can act dehydrated. Love the finish of the creamy foundations though and now I know that if I do the experiment I should powder on top of the oily bits. Or maybe I could try wearing them with no moisturiser? This series is so inspiring to get me experimenting and trying stuff out. Excellent, really helpful.
Thank yo uso much for this!! Dry skin videos like this are close to impossible to find on youtube. No one realizes that oily skin isn't the only problem maker out there. It would be so helpful if you could do a video on how to apply foundation ect on dry skin without annoying flakes and splotches!
I have combination skin and I love using the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in the winter time when I have slightly drier skin. Really good and great value for money. The only thing is that the shade range isn't great. I don't think it's too dewy for combination skin, personally.
I love your makeup so much in this video just as much as I love the video itself! This look seems really brightening, healthy and glowing! It'd totally make my day if you could do a tutorial or at least let us know the products you used! Thank you Lisa for your helpful advice
Love love love this video. I have dry skin and almost no foundation i would test out would work for me, and I thought i would have to live with just using concealers for the rest of my life. Thank you so much Ms Lisa for putting this up!!
Is there any more affordable options for very dry skin, like $20 or under? It seems like I have a hard time even with expensive ones I've tried clinging to dry patches on my skin. But I'm glad you're talking about this subject-I swear, it's like every beauty guru seems to talk about oily skin all the time, plus seems to think everyone is 22 years old.
I wonder would you consider re-doing this series in 2020? it would be amazing to see updated recs
Cold you do an updated version of this? There are many more on the high stree and high end for dry skin now 💖
Can you recommend a full coverage foundation with a built in spf cause it makes my skin too oily if if apply it before I use foundation
Alice Honestly the spf in foundation isn't really enough to protect your face. I'll have a look in my collection though. I'm sure I have a few with spf15-20 x
Could be worth you having a look at better spf for before hand.
Also layering spf say in moisturiser, then primer then foundation for example doesn't add any more protection the way you'd expect it would. They tend to cancel each other out but I'll get back to you. I have a few foundations with just enough spf x
I don`t understand the SPF thing, because for me make up with SPF does protect the skin.Probably not in really hot desert environments but europe in summer, totally.
I'd love update on this.
Update Please!
I bought all of these on your recommendation Lisa, (not all at once!). I can confirm that they are all wonderful for dry skin and all a joy to use. It's a nice range of coverage too: from light to medium/full.
Thanks and welcome! X
I adore the BB balm. Smells gorgeous and feels so comforting on the skin!
yes as i said the LM one is definitely buildable to full coverage X
GREAT VIDEO! I am 35 and my skin has been dry as a bone all my life. Good thing about it is that nothing will grow on my face - ever! No spots, no acne, no blackheads, no irritation, no nothing ;) Bad thing: cheeks are always a little red and my skin is just superdry, ie no glowy looks for me.

Do you mean Pro Lumiere? Vita Lumiere liquid is still available X
Hi,
You can find a list of the foundations I recommend on my blog. The link is in the description.
I hope that helps.
Lisa x
I've written down every suggestion you've made. Now, could you please give us the list of products you have on your face and nails? You look absolutely radiant!
I have a video about organic/natural brands. Only issue is the lack of shades of liquid/cream foundation that are available. Have a look at the video X
Have very dry skin and used BB stick for my wedding, loved it and photographed beautifully. Lisa love this series, thank you for your time!
Have a look at my 'Foundation solutions for pale skin' video. There are many suggestions. Hope it helps X
I have been using the Bobbi Brown foundation stick for years now and it is really awesome. I almost use it everyday and the stick lasts around 6 month so it's worth the money!
You made that Bobbi Brown balm sound so lovely that you made me wanna try it, even with my normal/ combination skin.
that is correct X
Even I have combination skin I use the bobbi brown foundation stick for years now. Just love it! It blends pretty well and I don't look shiny if I set some powder on my t-zone.
Lisa, always a pleasure to watch and learn from you, Thank you for your commitment to perfection in your work
I absolutely LOVE the Chanel Vitalumiere for my dry skin, specially during winter.
I have been so excited about this video since you put up the oily version the other day. So so thrilled with this series. Thank you very much Lisa!
PLEASE do a tutorial on your look! You look gorgeous! This look is perfect for daytime!

No I've never found that X

Hi, Lisa! Thank you very much for your time. These videos are really helpful and I enjoy every bit of advice from the brilliant make up artist you are. Looking forward to the rest of the tutorials on foundation. Love from Spain.
i must have watched every single one of these videos in this series at least 3 times in the roll!
Great video! You look so glowy and super pretty here. The blush you are wearing is GORGEOUS...it's like a pink/ peach. Love it!
Lisa, I can't thank you enough for making this video and the others in the series. I have very pale skin that is usually much lighter than most brand's lightest shades and trying to find a match is enough a challenge but is near impossible once you factor in my dry skin as well. The Laura Mercier on I mentioned is ..... ask for a sample X

ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR VIDS. FULL OF AMAZING TIPS AND ADVICE AND KNOWLEDGE.

It does smell quite strong but shouldnt smell rancid. Contact BB, they are really great about returning unsuitable products X

I used the Bobbi Brown Stick for my wedding makeup and it photographed beautifully - not oily or shiny at all, but still worked for my dry skin.
Thank you Lisa for this amazing video series. This has been very helpful.
Would love to see a video using the stick foundation.
I paid 50 USD for the Tinted Moisterizing Balm by Bobbi Brown while I was in the US. Let me tell you that this was the best investment ever! I had watched your video, Lisa, and I decided to try it. I feel like I'm having a conversation with a friend when I watch your videos. You are so helpful. Thank you!
I can't thank you enough lisa, I've bought the bobbi brown moisturising balm after watching this video, and it is perfect for my dry eczema skin. It doesn't get caught in the flaky bits and the glow helps me look more alive :) thank u xox
Lisa please make an updated video! Love these.
I tried the Chanel Vitalumiere foundation, and I LOVE IT! It's my go to foundation during the winter months, when my skin feels extra dry!!
I'm such an admirer of yours! Thank you for all the videos! I adore them all! All the best, Lisa!
Really intrigued by the Bobbi Brown balm although I don't really like having a dewy finish for some unknown reason. I'm loving this series of videos!
This was really healpful!!! I really struggle finding the right foundation for my very very dry skin. Thankyou!!
You are fabulous, Lisa. Could you do a tutorial for today's look? Your skin glowes and I like the blush on you!
Xx
Thank you so much for this video.. I have dry skin and never know which foundation to go for and now i have some ideas.
Wish list:
Every time you upload a video my smile grows from ear to ear! LOVE YOY! KISSES FROM ARGENTINA
Thank you so much for your suggestions. This is one of the best tutorials I have coma across. I really want to try the Chanel suggestion. again thanks
you are god send... absolutely love this series.
LOVE your series on foundations for different skin types :)
Medium to full X
I too have used the vitalumiere from chanel since it came out - have tried other ones, but is still my favourite and covers my skin beautifully. I often get asked why I don't have "foundation lines" - it just covers so well, and of course proper blending...lol
Very informative and useful even though I have combi skin but can act dehydrated. Love the finish of the creamy foundations though and now I know that if I do the experiment I should powder on top of the oily bits. Or maybe I could try wearing them with no moisturiser? This series is so inspiring to get me experimenting and trying stuff out. Excellent, really helpful.
i really love love love this series! it is very very very helpful and informational Lisa, you are the best!
Thank you for making this video, have really struggled to find good foundations for very dry skin so will give some of these a try. Thank you
I have been waiting for this video for so long!!! I have extremely dry and sensitive skin!! thank you so much Lisa!
Thanks Lisa I have suffered with dry skin my entire life and this was really helpful!! : )
I love your makeup so much in this video just as much as I love the video itself! This look seems really brightening, healthy and glowing! It'd totally make my day if you could do a tutorial or at least let us know the products you used! Thank you Lisa for your helpful advice
I would love a video just about dewey foundations
Love love love this video. I have dry skin and almost no foundation i would test out would work for me, and I thought i would have to live with just using concealers for the rest of my life. Thank you so much Ms Lisa for putting this up!!
ugh i should stop watching your videos when tired because i need to listen to the information but your voice is so soothing like a lullaby
Very helpful videos on foundation. Thank you, Lisa!
Thank you so so soooo much! These foundation videos are extremely helpful. It is greatly appreciated!

Tell us about primers and concealers for dry very dry skin.
