No joke, I get compliments on my makeup quite often, and I truly credit you, Lisa, as I’ve been a faithful watcher since 2011. I recently told my coworker that I spend most of my time blending and perfecting, rather than, to your point, piling things on. She said that sometimes she can’t tell what I’m wearing because the edges all are blurred together, and so I explained that blending is the key. A few days later she proudly showed me her eyeshadow application, which she said she spent ample time blending in. It really looked significantly better, and she was glowing, she was so happy! Thank you for being a true professional and reminding us that we don’t have to pile on 17 layers of product to achieve a beautiful face! ❤🎉
She does this because she is an actual artist. The same philosophy and technique works with fine art as well- you create dimension and images with erasers and scraping tools as much as you do with pencils or paintbrushes. Negative space is as important as the space that is filled, and this works for blending and depth in makeup as well. She's amazing! 🎨💄
Exactly, and that includes silence in music, or stillness in performing. [Edit] actually her first sentence by Coco Chanel is basically how I go about interpreting music. First I write on the sheet everything I feel like doing, and as I work the ideas into the piece, they become a lot more minimal and refined to really complement the piece rather than overpower it.
As I was watching the video, I thought, "Hey, I've been doing this for years! I must have good makeup instincts." And seeing your comment makes so much sense to me because I love drawing portraits and blending and shading is my FAVORITE part! haha. People always ask me how I create my drawings, and I tell them I erase a lot!
Oh Lisa!!! I'm 51 and for the last couple of years my makeup has never looked quite right, like I was wearing a mask even if I didn't use much makeup. I tried this 'hack' today and the difference is INCREDIBLE. My makeup now looks how I always hoped it would look but was never quite able to achieve. Everything just looks softer and seamless. It's incredible. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

Yes! 100%! This is something I've realized as I've gotten 'wiser' (I'm over 55). Good prep, good moisture, light application, and good blending truly go a long way to accentuating my features in a kind way. Another tip I've learned is to mix moisturizer with foundation to sheer it out and add a dewey finish.
SOS! I just turned 43 and my skin/face is officially on the downward spiral! No matter what product/technique I try, every foundation and tinted moisturiser sits in the crease of my nasiolabial folds within seconds and concealer sits in the new lines under my eyes. If you did a video on how to do makeup for the transitional period of aging, I would love you forever. I've learned so much from you!
I am 47. A good skincare routine that is moisture heavy is your BFF. Look for skincare with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides , centella, sodium pca, and/or glycerin. You need a sunscreen, Korean and Japanese ones are my faves.
Holy crap, I DO know what I'm doing! Post application buffing used to drive my instructor insane but I always liked the way it looked, which is seamless. Thank you for the validation. ❤
My glamourous nana always had a clean 2nd powder puff and brush to do exactly this, so as a little girl, sitting on the floor watching her, I absorbed this technique and have always done the same ... it really makes a massive difference .. I even keep a small set of 2/3 clean brushes in my car so that when I see myself in the rear-view mirror I can correct quickly thrown on make-up especially around jawline/neck (tide-lines my nana called them!!), I am LOVING your new skin-tint BTW, it is fantastic .. I even use a small amount as concealer when using your foundation because it doesn't crease and blends beautifully!!!
@@BetaCumminstrue but the western Europeans play it too safe and too plain. I think the Italians and East Asian countries to a better job with makeup trends and application.
I love this idea - going to pull out my unused brushes to see which ones will do this job! My tip: When I’m all done with my makeup I always crumple a tissue into a ball and ever so lightly tap around my face - it picks up makeup that may be just sitting atop the skin as well as doing a final tap-buff - it’s also great throughout the day just on the parts of the face that may get shiny
Lisa, I've been watching you since your first video on RUclips. I used to be obsessed with tutorials. The main difference I've always noticed between and the rest is how light handed you are with makeup. You are the epitome of perfection and I keep learning so much from you. You use makeup to enhance beauty, not to "look at me, I've got a face full of makeup". Thank you!
I adore this tip - it really is something a true artist would do, like a way of achieving texture with oil paint or subtlety of wash with watercolour. That's what I love most about your videos - your depth of knowledge and how you make your techniques accessible to others. Thankyou xx
I clicked on this video so fast to learn a coveted Lisa tip and instead I was validated that my clean brush technique I've been doing for years make a huge difference! I've even had a young college girl ask me how I blended out my blush because it was so natural and I told her about using a clean brush to blend out the edges and soften it up. I started using a clean brush after my base many years ago because I wanted to to smooth it out and absorb some of the moisture before applying my powder products! Thank you Lisa for all the wonderful tips. Edit to add that I commented this before I finished the video and I love how you address us finger appliers! I myself love using my fingers and yes it makes a big difference :)
Brilliant, Lisa! I adore your “tips”. I am 75 and don’t even use foundation unless I’m am doing a full on evening look and still then, very light cover. I use a fine tip brush to apply to age spots on my face and even then just apply and blend. I have been using a “Stands Out” beauty sponge to soften my make up. But using a clean brush would be the perfect tool. Thank you always! ♥️
Blending but also not excessive amounts of makeup! I can’t believe when I see tutorials how much foundation and concealer they pack on. Usually the skin is good but there is the idea of baking for the day. It’s the Bobbi Brown WTF phenomenon, more experience with make up means you know how much you actually need to use
Exactly. I agree 💯%. The older I get, the more I realize that less makeup (especially complexion products) is actually the golden rule. You look even better.
Your attention to detail makes you so incredible at your job, Lisa. Even after 10+ years of subscribing to this channel, I keep learning so much from your videos. Thank you for this killer technique!
You are timeless and ageless Lisa. Be it your skills, professionalism and your skin. I've been watching you since I was in uni! That is over 10 years ago❤
I'm another person who gets lots of compliments on my makeup and I credit you a lot! You've been a huge teacher for me and I love how you've never been down on trends and approach everything in the spirit of fun while still executing these stylish modern and very beautiful looks!
I love that Sigma high cheek highlighter brush, it's useful for so much! Real Techniques brushes are inexpensive enough to have multiples on hand for blending/finalizing. The elf Ultimate Blending brush is good too. Finally, a shout-out to the good old-fashioned Fuller Brush Company. Not a high-glamour name, but their makeup brushes are very good, reasonably-priced, and have smooth wooden handles that are delightful to hold.

Seriously Lisa, I hate to single people out like this because there are so many awesome artists in this industry but you are simply the best...period....done...end of story! Thank you so much for sharing all your secrets, for making incredible makeup that sends us all in a frenzy (and jewelry) - love you, love you, love you - thank you!
How is it sitting over sunscreen? I have total nightmare all the time with any base (and I use the tiniest amount) or blended concealer, just disintergrating over the sunscreen after about two hours!
YES! I have been doing this with my eyes & foundation. It was kind of an accident because I was frustrated with the bit of patchiness in my foundation after I applied it. I got another brush to blend it and realized it looked much better. Now you just legitimized it! Thank you for another great video💖
I first saw this on your channel when Michael Ashton was a guest and gave us the Adele tutorial. He called it “polishing.” I loved that tutorial, such a talented guy ❤
I know this video is about blending etc, but the eye look is smashing! And since you showed us the blending technique, I got to see the steps of the eye enough to try it myself. Thank you, Lisa!
Lovely as always Lisa! I would love to see you do a split face to show the difference of advanced techniques that will make all the difference in your makeup. Positioning of blush application etc etc. Thanks!
Your approach to makeup being so seamless and subtle and looking so flawless is so inspiring. I'll definitely be incorporating this step in my routine in the future. Cheers!
This is so helpful! For years I have intuitively "undone" my makeup after applying it to get it to a point I was happy with and always felt like I was doing something I wasn't supposed to, and that other much more skilful folk just knew how to put it on without having to undo and correct - and here you go, showing us that that's actually the way to go, so now I can do it with confidence! Thank you so much - your videos are not just about make up, but so much more - they are about transparency, demystifying skills, public education and care for fellow human beings.
Love it! I use that technique every day, with a sponge for the base and a brush for the rest. Thank you, Lisa, for your commitment to the craft of beauty; I'm a fan!
I have 2 flat top brushes I reserve for just this step, one from Zoeva and one from Sonia G (also used to buff powder). I find that this process even works with a base as seamless as your foundation and skin tint. Thanks Lisa.
Lisa, I am so happy for all your success. In some ways its as if we are experiencing the thrill of success right beside you. Your authenticity in everything you do and create remains refreshing and rare. It is so lovely to continue to grow with tip after tip year after year. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
Thank you Lisa. I always do that with my hands. I always only use bronser and concealer in certain spots and then blend, blend blend and in the end, I blend once again with my fingers. Same with the edge of my eye shadow, with a clean finger 😊
These tips are why I only watch you for makeup videos! I’ve always had issues with foundation application around and between my brows. I can’t wait to try a clean brush to help remove and blend my makeup around my brows. Loving the new skin tint and your lip glosses (I know they aren’t new but oh my! I’m addicted to them for work! So easy and my lips are less dry and flaky!)
Oh this kind of advice is priceless 🌸I have just bought a lipstick & lip liner from Lisa’s collection & as expected absolutely beautiful ,the packaging made me feel special .I’m working class & only can afford a little luxury for my birthday & Christmas, happy birthday me ,thanks Lisa 🥰

These tips are a game changer. My eyeshadow has never looked so blended than when using this tip. It’s so easy and quick and makes a world of difference to the end result.
Lisa's techniques are the main reason I feel confident in trying and improving on any makeup look I want, and the amount of makeup saved on each attempt thanks to her doesn't hurt either lol. You're an amazing professional, and thanks for sharing your hard earned knowledge with us.
Yes, I really appreciated this tip. I have collected numerous brushes over the years but only use a few. Some of the never before used brushes will get a go now. Thank you.❤
I do exactly the same thing in every makeup! Not only for my clients but also on myself. Gives the impression of an airbrushed finished makeup and even better! ❤❤❤❤
Dear Lisa, it is probably due to having watched your amazing tutorials for ages, but I have been intuitively implementing this hack for quite a while now! Thank you for the wonderful video showing it in detail. You look gorgeous❤
Amazing! The Sigma f80 is such an incredible brush! I've been using it since I saw you recommend it years ago and it always creates the most beautiful skin like finish xx
Thank you for confirming a method I am using for years. I hardly look natural after more than a pump of foundations, but still then I smooth everything with an empty brush to blend everything out. ❤
hi lisa, ive first started watching you in 2013, and as a young man with zero knowledge, your videos are such a godsend. i still wear makeup daily, i take care of my skin so i can get away with just concealing, but everything i do, from spot concealing to identifying and painting the shadows away to subtle highlighting, i learnt from you!...my mates are amazed i use sooo little but with maximum impact. and probably as a srudent of your philosophy and approach, i do my own hack, which is washing my hands, leaving them damp and actually using the fleshy parts of my palm and back of hands to both blend and.lift off the "excess" or whatever that feels too much. It really does make a world of difference. my kit is small but formidable, thanks to you! ilu so much!
Hi lisa I've been following you for a few years now and love your techniques. This week I tried this method and went into space nk. The lady who served me said my makeup looked beautiful- I was so thrilled . Thankyou lisa ❤
I'm so glad that you still film your tutorials, as well as sharing your product launches; much as I adore your products! Some people don't, and it spoils their channel. I love your videos! A x
I think you are the only one I have seen do this total blending technique and I really do like it. Glad I have so many nice brushes now. Going to try this in the morning. Thank you for this video.
@@LisaEldridge I tried the blending today and I see a very good improvement. Now I just need help with my eyebrows lol. Glad I watched your video. Linda Heath
Thank you Lisa. Great tips. I normally apply my foundation in a very thing layer. Don’t like when foundation looks like a mask. But will definitely keep a clean old brush for blending edges etc. XO 😊
I love this. Thank you. In the same vein, when I use powder foundation, which I often do in very hot summer weather, I use a damp, completely wrung out face cloth, and press it into my face after the powder foundation, blush, bronzer and highlighter have been applied. Melds everything together and removes excess. Also sets it. But I never had a hack for liquids and creams. Thanks for the video!💚
Wow! A real eyeopener! So helpful!! Especially as I am performing and you are describing exactly the feeling you have when you are on stage and think you need a bit „more“! Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your amazing art with us! ❤ I bought my old Mac buffer brush a second time in London and will put it to this use.
Great tip! Yesterday I noticed I had used too much bronzer and had trouble removing some with my fingers. Next time I know to use a clean brush instead. Thanks so much.
Another thing I use is a slightly damp disposable sponge that I tear in half and use the bumpier inside part to press and blend foundation. For brushes, I like the Nyx Professional Blender and the Joah Mini Ultimate Blender Brush (if you can find it and it is sold in a travel size set of brushes.)
Dear Lisa. I got your palest foundation last week and it is absolutely beautiful. I always have to use the palest shades available in any foundation, so I was absolutely delighted that your foundation matched my skin tone perfectly. I have been watching and learning from your videos for a very long time, especially when I want to use coloured eyeshadows. You always give a wonderful tutorial on how to use jewel toned eyeshadow to suit all ages. You are so, naturally, beautiful that you can use yourself to model any particular look you want to achieve. However, I do love when you have a guest to show how certain looks can be achieved, like the Elizabeth Taylor look. It was absolutely stunning. I also love when you do Eva Green's makeup. The finished look is always stunning and so full of imagination. I find watching your videos, and listening to you voice, very calming. Congratulations on your beautiful makeup line and I can't wait to see more videos from you. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and I wish you even more success going forward. 🎨🖌️💄💄👄👄🌹🌹💐💐
Yes! I actually do this!! I think this comes from many years of being a portrait artist - it's the final blending with a Q-Tip or shading stump in a pencil portrait. The same applies for makeup. Blend. Blend. Blend. Soften and slightly wipe away. Blur it out. I sometimes at the absolute end take a little hand cream and apply it to the apples of my cheeks and the bridge of my nose for a little glow and tamp down any setting powder. Great video topic, Lisa!
I use a few of my older brushes for the inevitable eyeshadow/eye area products that love to end up on my upper cheeks. Depending on if my blush choice is powder or cream determines the brush/tool I prefer for the final blending phase of my face/neck. I have been told by a select few that my application process was doing way too much. I'm glad that I could just laugh it off and not give into the peer pressure, because everyone's relationship with makeup is unique. I loved that this video provided several confirmations as well as a few new helpful tips, ty
I have started incorporating this technique and it really is an absolute game changer. This isn’t clickable. It literally looks like I’m wearing nothing at all but the coverage is still there. Thank you 💕
Such awesome synchronicity Lisa! I literally didn't like how my base was looking afew weeks ago after applying a few pumps, then grabbed my clean kabuki brush and went over it, and said "Voilà!" Now, that you've confirmed how great this is, I know it was meant to be! Thank you!❤🌺🙏
I use a small kabuki brush to buff between my layers and it has always given me a lovely soft finish. I didn’t know that what I was doing was blending the makeup off, but it works and I am going to do the same with my eye makeup thanks for the tip!
Fascinating! I’m not a makeup artist but I’ve been wearing some sort of makeup most of my life and intuitively I’ve been using this technique to blend my products. Sometimes I use my clean fingers or a tissue when I feel that something needs to be blended or toned down. Also, finishing powder works like magic 🪄 😊 Thank you for sharing your wisdom 🌹
Thank you. I think it’s as important to know how to take things down a notch as it is to apply the makeup in the first place. You always explain things so well ❤
Lisa I have a happy little update about my experience with your cleansing balm. It’s been quite a few months now-what a beautiful product and my skin loves it. ❤️🌷🙏🏼 Thank you! Almost time to reorder.
I learned from you the no makeup makeup look and I tried this technique yesterday morning. Wow, this subtle change made a HUGE difference! My makeup stayed fresher all day. Thanks so much Lisa ❤
What an amazing tip, I tend to do that with my eyes and blush, but never thought to do it with my base......new "clean" brushes on my shopping list thanks so much you look flawless xx
Brilliant advice about brushes. I also prefer to enhance the natural look. Being 62 I have to use more make up than ever just to look as though I have a face but I would never cake on foundation or use 6 products just to create the base as I see some you tubers do. I hope you have a retailer in Australia. Looking forward to trying your tint, and your foundation.
Yes, i do this! I use a sephora big flat top foundation brush, which is too flexy for applying but great for going over top. I also have an extremely old but still perfect Ruby hammer contour brush that I use to go over my eyeshadow at the end.

One of the only makeup artists worth watching. So elegant and timeless. Thank you Lisa ❤
I first saw this on your channel when Michael Ashton was a guest and gave us the Adele tutorial. He called it “polishing.”
I loved that tutorial, such a talented guy ❤
I know this video is about blending etc, but the eye look is smashing! And since you showed us the blending technique, I got to see the steps of the eye enough to try it myself.
Thank you, Lisa!
Lovely as always Lisa! I would love to see you do a split face to show the difference of advanced techniques that will make all the difference in your makeup. Positioning of blush application etc etc. Thanks!
Love these tips! Blending with clean brushes makes makeup look more natural and less “painted-on”
❤️❤️❤️
That's amazing, and so pleased I could give you confidence with your technique 😘 thank you for your kind words xxxx
@@LisaEldridge Thank you! ☺️❤️ xxxx
I agree totally the makeup looks so much better & me skin like
Thanks for sharing Lisa ❤
You can see the clear perfection on 05:15 the blush application is so fricking natural and blended.
Such a class act Lisa! Thanks for continuing to upload tips and tricks! ❤❤❤
Lisa, I am so happy for all your success. In some ways its as if we are experiencing the thrill of success right beside you. Your authenticity in everything you do and create remains refreshing and rare. It is so lovely to continue to grow with tip after tip year after year. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
Thank you so much xx
Also Q-tips come in handy especially in the eye area!
Thank you Lisa. I always do that with my hands. I always only use bronser and concealer in certain spots and then blend, blend blend and in the end, I blend once again with my fingers. Same with the edge of my eye shadow, with a clean finger 😊
Fingers are a great tool for this too, love it 💘
I’d love for you to talk about overblending, how to avoid, how to fix it ❤
What?
I do the same and it works well with a clean wet beauty blender!
perfect! xx
OK.....this is probably one of the most helpful tips I've heard 👏 ❤
Seeing you on YT made my day Lisa. I really appreciate that you share your expertise with us. ❤from Canada. 🇨🇦
My husband looked at me doing my makeup and asked “how do you know when you’re done?”
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
😂
Legit question.
😂
This is something I have never done but from tomorrow morning I will be . I have lots of brushes that are suitable for this. Thank you Lisa 😊
So glad the videos are helpful and you're loving your products xxx
Oh this kind of advice is priceless 🌸I have just bought a lipstick & lip liner from Lisa’s collection & as expected absolutely beautiful ,the packaging made me feel special .I’m working class & only can afford a little luxury for my birthday & Christmas, happy birthday me ,thanks Lisa 🥰
Enjoy your products ! Xx
Fourth! This advice is in several of your other videos, but it's awesome to have a chance to get the techno and tricks all together. Thanks!
Fourth???
@@smileandsaycheese44 The first person to comment on this video, just said "First." So, since I was the fourth comment, I put "Fourth." Just to be funny.
Ohhhh I get ya 😀
These tips are a game changer. My eyeshadow has never looked so blended than when using this tip. It’s so easy and quick and makes a world of difference to the end result.
that's brilliant to hear, so pleased it helped xx
Thx Lisa ❤❤❤
Lisa's techniques are the main reason I feel confident in trying and improving on any makeup look I want, and the amount of makeup saved on each attempt thanks to her doesn't hurt either lol.
You're an amazing professional, and thanks for sharing your hard earned knowledge with us.
That purple eyes shadow is beautiful ❤
Yes, I really appreciated this tip. I have collected numerous brushes over the years but only use a few. Some of the never before used brushes will get a go now. Thank you.❤
let me know how you get on 😍
I do exactly the same thing in every makeup! Not only for my clients but also on myself. Gives the impression of an airbrushed finished makeup and even better! ❤❤❤❤
😍😍😍
Dear Lisa, it is probably due to having watched your amazing tutorials for ages, but I have been intuitively implementing this hack for quite a while now! Thank you for the wonderful video showing it in detail. You look gorgeous❤
😘😘😘
So thrilled by videos have been helpful - love hearing your own hacks too xxx
Hi lisa
I've been following you for a few years now and love your techniques. This week I tried this method and went into space nk. The lady who served me said my makeup looked beautiful- I was so thrilled . Thankyou lisa ❤
This makes me so happy! ❤️❤️
Wow, what a difference - especially the eyes - thank you. I am 54 and am definitely going to give this a try. Never too old to learn.
You’re very welcome xxxx
@@LisaEldridge I tried the blending today and I see a very good improvement. Now I just need help with my eyebrows lol. Glad I watched your video. Linda Heath
Thank you Lisa. Great tips. I normally apply my foundation in a very thing layer. Don’t like when foundation looks like a mask. But will definitely keep a clean old brush for blending edges etc. XO 😊
Let me know what you think of the technique, it sounds perfect for your routine ❤ x
@@LisaEldridge Set aside a couple of old brushes and using them for blending and softening edges and it is working like a dream! Thank you.XO
😍😍😍
💗💗💗
I tried your technique this morning and it made such a difference. Thank you for sharing !
Great tip! Yesterday I noticed I had used too much bronzer and had trouble removing some with my fingers. Next time I know to use a clean brush instead. Thanks so much.
😍😍😍
This technique makes the makeup look soft, natural, and air-brushed. Love it! I like the Essence buffer brush. I think it's under $6.
so pleased you love it too, and thank you for sharing your brush recommendation 💖
Thank you so much for watching and I'm happy to hear you've found your perfect match 💗💗💗
What a wonderful tip! I always use a clean brush for my blush only but not for foundation or anything else. Thank you for this tutorial!
Great video topic, Lisa!
love this! xx
Thank you 💕
💖💖💖
All those years later you're still teaching me something new. Thank you so much, Lisa.
😘😘😘
Such awesome synchronicity Lisa! I literally didn't like how my base was looking afew weeks ago after applying a few pumps, then grabbed my clean kabuki brush and went over it, and said "Voilà!" Now, that you've confirmed how great this is, I know it was meant to be! Thank you!❤🌺🙏
so happy to hear it was helpful, such a good, quick hack 💘
Love the simple no nonsense tips Lisa.
❤️❤️❤️
I used this concept subconsciously at some steps of make up, but thank you for putting it together and demonstrating it so beautifully! 🥰
I use a small kabuki brush to buff between my layers and it has always given me a lovely soft finish. I didn’t know that what I was doing was blending the makeup off, but it works and I am going to do the same with my eye makeup thanks for the tip!
Love that you going this hack instinctively xx
That's so wonderful to hear, I'm thrilled you love it 🥰🥰
I can watch your videos for hours! I can't say that about any other person yet, just something about you is so simple yet informative.
❤️❤️❤️
I learned from you the no makeup makeup look and I tried this technique yesterday morning. Wow, this subtle change made a HUGE difference! My makeup stayed fresher all day. Thanks so much Lisa ❤
I'm so happy to hear it, thank you so much for watching 😘😘
What an amazing tip, I tend to do that with my eyes and blush, but never thought to do it with my base......new "clean" brushes on my shopping list thanks so much you look flawless xx
Thank you so much. It really made my make-up look more natural and it doesn’t feel heavy.
Unfortunately I don't have any physical locations in Australia but I ship there directly from my website xx
Yes, i do this! I use a sephora big flat top foundation brush, which is too flexy for applying but great for going over top. I also have an extremely old but still perfect Ruby hammer contour brush that I use to go over my eyeshadow at the end.
they sound perfect for this ✨✨
Thank you,Lisa. Such a simple and very helpful tip to use.
❤️❤️❤️
You are absolutely the Queen of blending and perfecting ❤
I have watched hundreds and hundreds of make up videos but this tip is new to me. I will definitely try it out. Thank you, Lisa. ❤️
Love finding a new tip to try, let me know what you think of this one 😘 x
Thank you Lisa for this video everyone should watch !
The brush 140 from Make Up Forever is perfect for the eyes, I've been using it only to "clean blend" for years !
Thank you so much Helene 😘😘😘
I have never seen anybody who is so perfect in her teaching. So much love for you Lisa🧡🧡🧡
Thank you for watching xx
