MN v. Derek Chauvin Trial Day 6 - Dr Bradford Langenfeld, Chf Medaria Arradondo

  • Fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, 44, stands trial in the alleged murder of George Floyd, 46. As seen on the footage, the defendant kneeled on the victim’s neck for minutes until after the man became unresponsive during an arrest over an alleged counterfeit $20 bill on May 25, 2020. Jurors must determine under the law if Floyd died because of Chauvin’s actions, or if it was really something else. The medical examiner noted that he also had arteriosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease, and also fentanyl, and evidence of recent meth use.
Both sides jockeyed over evidence amid jury selection. Judge Peter Cahill ruled jurors can hear evidence Chauvin once told another officer in a separate arrest to apply a Hobble restraint-a kind of a restraining belt used by law enforcement-in a “hog-tie” position although a woman allegedly did not put up much resistance. The state can also show evidence that the defendant knew how it was dangerous to kneel on the neck of the prone Floyd.

I really doubt that was her point. She was going slightly out of the bounds of her job and didn’t want to be seen as a tattletale. I think you are painting with too broad of a brush, especially expanding your opinion to all American law enforcement agencies. What country are you from?

Police and their colleagues talk of being a Snitch like its policy. At the highest level,. Officers find it difficult when they are known as a Snitch, even lose their lives. Going back as far as Serpico 💯

You just knew what the defence was going to be ! So if someone YOU think like the officer, that the man was on drugs and he's telling you he's in trouble, you throw him on the floor and choke him??! In a blood choke and non mechanical breathing co2 fills the body ! Didn't mention drug use to dispatch? Quite important to mention!! Code2 ? None emergency? Rubbish ! Duty of care officer !

I agree. And a lot of 'leading the witness'.... No simple answers (yes/no) to questions when there should be... I watch a LOT of court cases...this one is...weird on all counts. Of course we ALL know why... so sad to see this country afraid to use our court system to ACTUALLY prove /disprove guilt. I want to simply know the truth - I don't care what it is - just so it's the truth.

@@nannykat1057 The podcast The Prosecutors did a great job analyzing this case. Irl judges will sometimes give leniency on questioning to the prosecution and defense in order streamline things and save time.
For instance, the judge in the Chauvin trial gave Nelson a ton of leeway in his directs & crosses too. But apparently judges will do that so there's less chance the defense can appeal later. So they err on the side of caution.
The Prosecutors is hosted by 2 experienced prosecutors and was really interesting to hear how trials actually work compared to what we see on tv.
