  • National use-of-force expert Barry Brodd took the stand in the trial of Derek Chauvin Tuesday afternoon, telling the court he believed the former officer's conduct in detaining George Floyd was not a use of force.
"I felt that Derek Chauvin was justified and was acting with objective reasonableness, following Minneapolis Police Department policy and current standards of law enforcement in his interactions with Mr. Floyd," Brodd tesitifed.
When cross-examined by state prosecutor Steve Schleicher, Brodd admitted that prone position could be viewed as a use-of-force if George Floyd was in pain during the encounter.
