MN v Derek Chauvin Trial Day 5: Sgt Jon Edwards-Responded to Scene, Lt Richard Zimmerman
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 апр 2021
- Fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, 44, stands trial in the alleged murder of George Floyd, 46. As seen on the footage, the defendant kneeled on the victim’s neck for minutes until after the man became unresponsive during an arrest over an alleged counterfeit $20 bill on May 25, 2020. Jurors must determine under the law if Floyd died because of Chauvin’s actions, or if it was really something else. The medical examiner noted that he also had arteriosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease, and also fentanyl, and evidence of recent meth use.
Both sides jockeyed over evidence amid jury selection. Judge Peter Cahill ruled jurors can hear evidence Chauvin once told another officer in a separate arrest to apply a Hobble restraint-a kind of a restraining belt used by law enforcement-in a “hog-tie” position although a woman allegedly did not put up much resistance. The state can also show evidence that the defendant knew how it was dangerous to kneel on the neck of the prone Floyd.

Makes complete sense now why rookie on the cam recording asked "should we turn him on his side?" Rookie knew exactly what was happening to Floyd based on his training.
Of course he knew but being a Rookie and Knowing how Blue Blood sticks together even when they dislike each other! He felt the need to be silenced as the spectators did! He was 100% wrong because he was thinking of his on wrath he would face not the poor nan Dying before his eyes! I was married to a cop and also was a bartender part time at a private club along with my Real Job which was working at a Drug Rehab when I would see POLICE come on n and literally drink all day or night fall asleep on the Bar and drive themselves home.. Yet watch how they treated others out on the street or drag them out of bars for the same exact thing
Lane in the full raw footage asked twice if they should roll him on his side. At one point asked if they needed to hobble him - which is really on your side but your legs ar restrained. I think it was Chauvin who asked where it was - why it was not retrieved I do not know. Officer Lane later - maybe hearing the calls from bystanders to check Mr Floyd''s pulse, does so and he did and you can hear him say he could not detect a pulse at which time they called 911. Kueng and Lane got off Mr Floyd and disturbingly Chauvin stayed as he was and only moved his knee more to the shoulder area when he heard paramedics arrive and had to stand up. But when Mr Floyd was limp with no pulse he kept his knee there.
That will be a big theme of the next trial I believe.
must be difficult for these police officers to take the stand basically against Chauvin- IMO they should NOT be able to turn off their body cam at any point until they finish their shift
This young officer/sergeant is very competent and confident. Don't know if he's cocky but he's very serious and professional. Apparently a good cop.

Yea, that's what people said about chauvin too.. First impressions are not a good thing to judge people from. I won't explain but I'm sure you can think of many occasions where your first impression of someone ended up being a 180° difference later on.
@@ucnhtmenow1 I don't think the prosecution would bring bad apples to make their case. Especially one like this
Don't be naive.
Lt. Richard Zimmerman is an honorable man that brings respect to the Police Department. The Police Department needs more men with character, such as he has.
Listen to Police Lieutenant Zimmerman on the stand! He disagreed with what chauvin did! One can watch and attempt to reason with those that disagree that Floyd was murdered by chauvin. All you needed to do was watch the horrifying video and clearly witness that protocol was not used and as a result Floyd was murdered by this sadistic, cold-blooded killer! Not only did chauvin not obey what he was trained to do, but rather taunted Floyd, and had Absolutely no reason to keep his knee on Floyd’s neck for almost ten minutes! The manner in which he looks out at the crowd begging him to get off him, his demeanor is one of arrogance knowing he has the power to do as he pleases! One can only surmise that chauvin has done this countless times, given that he had Numerous complaints in his file!! Go Directly To Prison Guilty As Charged!
yes but he still wasn't there, doesn't have all the facts, etc. It's just one person's opinion. There could be other information, specifically from Chauvin, that could change the perspective. What was Chauvin thinking? We don't know. Perhaps his train of thought was more reasonable than what many are assuming. Perhaps he will testify. Without EVERY SINGLE AVAILABLE FACT, nobody should judge.
I believe Chauvin murdered George Floyd. When he kept his knee on back of neck after Floyd stop moving he clearly disregarded GF life.
@@ajones6164, You can not be serious
@DecrepitOrigin888 are you serious? You really think he will be found not guilty?
After Chauvin had 18 complaints against him. Your absolutely right
"That's constricting your breathing even more" with regard to prone position.
The fact that no one in blue is coming to Chauvin’s defense proves that he’s been an issue on the force for a long time.
Lol you've clearly never worked for police department. People get thrown under the bus on the daily.
Defense hasn’t presented their case yet. They won’t call their witnesses until the state finishes presenting their witnesses. Plus, if the state subpoenas someone, they MUST show up and testify. The cops and EMTs have no choice. The are forced by law once they’re subpoenaed and sworn in to tell the truth or face jail time themselves.
@@KaktusLady 18 complaints are not that many for 18 years. What were they for? Use of force, someone lost their cell phone and blamed the cop, administrative... Anyone going to jail for an extended period of time gets a complaint on the cop that put them there.
Even if he is the prosecution's witnesses his still under oath .
joseph pattison excessive force
When the three cops were sitting on GF Derek says "what do you want" only to hear "I can't breathe, my stomach hurts, my neck hurts, my whole body hurts" while each answer is met with "hmm hmm" that was cruel, the whole incident was worse than torture, because in torture the pain stops when you comply by confessing, while George had no hope or reason to end the suffering, made worse by his hands being cuffed behind his back and to take a breath he had to lift Derek's weight, to grind a knee again into the neck of a cuffed unarmed helpless man is a whole new level of cruelty,
Exactly and when GF said he'll get in the car. Chauvin is like "get up then and get in the car" while still kneeling on his neck and holding him down. He was taunting him. He felt like a hard man but its backfired now.
That's exactly what I was seeing. I couldn't tell if he was asking, "What do you want?" Or "What are you on?" Either way, he was being arrogant and condescending.
@@masonsjourneylivingwithacc7029 I was surprised that the elderly gentleman, not Chauvin as I initially thought, said, “Get in the car” & “You can’t win man.” Regardless, Floyd couldn’t do anything once on the ground with the officers weight on him, none of which attempted to aide him in any manner. Very unsettling to watch a total lack of humanity. I agree Chauvin was enjoying it and at no time did Chauvin feel threatened by the group of bystanders. If he was he should’ve called backup since he’s the most senior officer and probably the training officer.
Comply with the police & we dont end up on ground after he tried to run how many times ya I would do same thing the guy was super high incase you dont know when super high your super strong & wt past escapes from pd yup hand cuffed put in car but he couldnt breath in car so they took him out? I think Chauvin’s lawyers are going to use Charles’ words at the scene in his defense, and the prosecution is just trying to ahead of it
Because they have to show the chain of events-they have to get to the decision makers & he was merely 1 in the chain of command.
To many tou tube breaks - I will watch somewhere else thanks.... Lowder with crowder :)

Lmao!! It’s truly stressing me out
WHY DO THEY KEEP SAYING MAY OR MAY NOT LIVE WHEN HE WAS DEAD ON THE SCENE??????
WE know that he was dead but legally, a person cannot be pronounced dead until a medical doctor pronounces them dead. It’s like a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. That’s why on the news, they say stuff like, “alleged” this or “alleged” that. They must be proven or pronounced.
Is it standard rule to handcuff and place a dude in car over POSSIBILITY of a fake $20 ? I can see if it was a fake $1000

I could be wrong but I imagine it’s related to Daunte Wright’s shooting, which occurred during this trial. A LOT of police were placed on leave.
I hated it when it was said that those officers were fearful of the MOB, less than 15 people don't make a mob and even if there was one, why wasn't backup or assistance called for?

Responding to Pretty boy Jeremy, go back to Day 4 of the trial and listen to what the Paramedic Derek Smith said, what he observed when he got to the scene other than all the people that were standing around. This is FYI. To be or become aware of, especially through careful and directed attention; notice: maybe you missed watching Day 4 of the trial, or maybe you had too much wax in your ears and couldn't hear good. This is your statement to me I’ll trust them over some unreliable dude on the street.
He was a good witness
I don't expect a fair outcome from this trial, based on what I witnessed at the Phil Castile trial. Mr. Castile received no justice what so ever, his life meant nothing to the Minneapolis police department.
If chauvin had any bit of humility inside of him, he would have treated Floyd as he would want another officer to treat him or anyone in his family in this type of situation. Maybe he grew some ovaries because his body cam had fallen off his person and then decided to do the unspeakable, but he couldn't possibly be so stupid to think it still wouldn't have been caught on camera, could he? Because so many officers get off with zero jail time after killing unarmed people, I would be satisfied if he gets 10 years in prison, although he deserves 15-life.
Where have I seen this Zimmerman before?
Someone else commented he's been on the show 48 hrs.
Throw the book a him...Mr.Cahill, any sane, discerning individual, would have known that what he administered to Mr: Floyd, was Hashly Cruel & Unusual punishment. Anything less than the maximum, will undoubtedly result in chaos.
It looked like he smiled at the Defendant when first on the stand
A lot of the witnesses have been, but which one? The sargeant?
The wrestler was like taunting him the entire time. Turning his head towards the defendant and almost addressing his comments to him it seemed.

@@roninsteel haha that was brilliant...
Wrong direction. He would have had to look to the left, or right if you were him. He smiled at the person addressing him from the podium.
That's sounds nice about trying to make them feel better to coax them into following the lawful orders...until no one can get help when they call 911 because the cops are too busy listening to Johnny talk about all of his life issues for an hour in order to get him in the car 😒 Maybe just stick to don't put your knee on someone's neck area for 10 min because that's really all that matters.
Chauvin and Floyd knew each other and worked together so why wasn't it brought up during the trial there must be an issue between both during their time as colleagues.
