I was DEEP in the apple ecosystem, found it hard to get out of it when switching to Android. Then bought the P8P, decided to go cold turkey and sell every apple product i have except the TV and i havent missed it as much as I thought other than when I need the apple TV virtual remote when i cant find the physical one.
LOVE the pixel asthetic, layout and google assistant. My work is heavily tied into google too and i often need to use my work MacBook so the fact google doesn't have a walled garden makes it a clearer choice imo. Very glad i made the switch

@@lokokrz.gaming basically as long as I have an iPhone I can call, text, FaceTime, on my iPad or Mac. Everything is synced so your reminders, calendar events, etc pop up on every device. The eco system of Apple is by design to just keep you in Apple. Nothing Apple is doing is innovative. I love all the new features that Google provides. I wish everyone in the US would just get on WhatsApp and be done with this green bubble/blue bubble BS.

    • @christopherjrager

Apple is so innovative that they keep having to add Android features to their devices. Think Different. I do like my MacBook Pro, however. I feel like that's all they're truly good at, and convincing people to go way to hard in the paint over their products.

I agree. The primary reason is to keep you in the system, secondary reason is for the benefit of productivity etc. This is the reason why the were against/resisted RCS for so long, they knew that iMessage and green and blue bubbles was an important if not the main reason people gravitated towards the iPhone and when that happened they could get them to buy more products and keep them in the ecosystem. With RCS coming in the next few months I believe more people will venture out.

I switched to the pixel after using iPhones for 12 years. I always used a Mac, loved when they introduced that calls could be transferred to my Mac. I have an iPad and and apple watch too. But, I got bored. The iPhone felt so monotonous to me at one point. So, I started using my iPhone 11 Pro with a new Pixel 6. I stopped using my iPhone after a few months, then. So I used a pixel 7 now, and planning to upgrade to 8. Honestly. it’s better than the iPhone in a lot of ways. I love that calls don’t show up on my Mac and on my watch. I continue to use the iPad, the Mac, the watch and the phone as separate devices. I feel that I feel mentally less cluttered than I did when I was using all the devices in sync. A closed platform is a problem only if you let it be. Yea, it’s hard to get uber notifications on Apple Watch, but man the plain watches are so much more cooler. Reading on iPad is good when you don’t get constant messages, calls from your phone there. Using your laptop is good when your phone is really away.
That’s my experience. As I said again, I am planning to switch to a pixel 8, not an iPhone. Oh yea, saved money helps, too :)

A.I. features I use the most? I guess it would be AI features that are available when you make phone calls. I know its shocking, these 'photo editors' can still make calls. When I make a call to many businesses, the pixel wakes up and shines!! I wont make a blog of this comment, but trust me, google AI shines very brightly for people who actually use their phone for "phone calls". Google these phrases "pixel hold for me", "pixel direct my call" and "pixel call screen". Warning these only matter to people who actually make and receive phone calls.
Are these devices still phones or should we start calling them something else? Because this was a video comparing two "phones", nothing about call quality, call transcriptions, voicemail features.

The one huge problem that the Pixel 8's never gets mentioned in reviews is the reception. I just ordered the 8 had it for one day and will be returning it. I have a Galaxy S23 and S21FE and both sitting in my house will get 5g UC with full bars or 90% of all the bars. The Pixel 8 in the exact same spot will not even pick up the 5g. It drops to LTE and 1-2 bars at best. So I did a little research and they are using the same
Exynos made 5300 modem as were in the pixels last year. It was disappointing as the Pixel 8's are very nice phones, but I have to have a phone that can get good reception.

It’s whatever is important to you I guess if the camera is the main thing making you choose between a pixel or an iPhone. The video on the pixel is still excellent especially on the newer phones. For me it’s pixel because the video is excellent and the photos are top-notch. If it’s just iOS versus android well then that’s a tossup whatever ecosystem you prefer. They’re both good.

im no iphone or samsung fan but google has done a gigantic trash also with the memories, in order to capture proper 50 MP pictures, i had to bring with me a tripod expecially at night time, only because the phone has no good cpu/gpu.
i am currently using a 4 year old phone and i bought google one monthly so i still have the magic eraser.

Wifey and Kids are on Apple Devices - while I prefer Google/Android and I'm always tinkering around Windows/Linux OS for home and work - but kids have iMacs as well (converted running Windows11 full time LOL). We don't discriminate..i suppose -- we even have Amazon's firesticks/Alexas and RokuTV too.
And Work Phone is an Issued iPhone tied with personal Apple Watch for IT On-call stuff - but my main personal phone is the Pixel 8 Pro. so that looks weird I guess - Apple Watch while using an Android?
Being an IT professional, in a company that decides to do 180 switches on product/services we use and implement - you're kind of forced to adapt to change or be left behind (let go)
But over time you just get used it.... what people call "challenges" in getting used to different ecosystems. It's just conditioning honestly, like going on a diet - but we're all creatures of habit I suppose.
I'm more curious about AI advancements - and while apple/meta decided to focus on the VR route - Google and M$ have gone AI which has more practical use cases than VR. The Pixel 8 is an early example of it, its not perfect - or fast and there's probably some privacy concerns - but its on the right track.

Just ordered my 8 Pro. Was gonna. I fancied it at release time but upgraded my iPhone 14 PM for the iPhone 15 Pro instead and as great as it is I’m bored already and you just don’t get that new phone excitement going from iPhone to iPhone as the user experience is basically the same. I’m gonna miss Face ID and most of all my Apple Watch Ultra as that’s unbeatable but I’ll pick up one of those tiny little Pixel Watch 2’s and give it a go. Not had a Pixel since the 3XL and only Samsungs, and iPhones since

People keep on mentioning about apple ecosystem, and I think its only valid in US. In Asia, whatsapp > imessage, whatsapp video call > facetime, google photos > icloud photos, and google keyboard > anything that ios has to offer.
And I'm apple user, I have ip 15 pro max, macbook pro m1, ipad, airpods pro gen1. But google software are superior compare with apple. IMHO.

Switched to the 8 pro from the iphone 13 pro max. It is my first android phone in a while. I still prefer iOS and will probably go back to iphone but the pixel 8 pro is a damn good phone and will last me a while. I don't really use the AI features but they're nice to have.

I switched from a Galaxy S20FE. Pixels selling point for me was the camera features. I find Google Photo intrusive and a pain and no way to simplify it. All apps I used on my Samsung are not built in and face adjustments are not permitted in the AI built in features. Erase was on my other phone plus smoothing facial features and red-eye removal. It takes twice as long or longer to do any editing. All edits go through the cloud and delays a quick fix.
The phone is nice but Im so sorry I switched... I have to surrender to Google for 2 yrs. Ugh 😩

So your review is basically a rehash of 98 % of other youtubers. You have the same exact talking points. You give a few points to Apple ( so you can stay in good grace), and a few points to Google. Trophies for both phones.
Downplay the Goggle features by saying a lot of people want use it. And trying to equal the playing field for Apple. You guys basically call them gimmicky until it appears on an iphone. Got it.
Speaking of super gimmicky ----Dynamic island
