Best of luck to him. Sounds like he got a pretty good deal. I'm retired now but when I was an apprentice the guys I worked with used to buy me some tools each month to help set me up. I still have them and my toolboxes now.
I’ve heard of people giving away tools to help people starting out. It happens but not super common. I wish more seasoned techs did it. It goes a long way.
@@ToolBoxTourthat's my plan I have my home set and my work set when I retire I will donate my full 40k work set up to a up coming tech ! I can't use it when I'm dead 😎
Teak and his friend buying 3/8" and 1/4" torque wrench sets and then swapping each other so they both have one of each is genius! Good on him for taking advantage of deals and managing his gear. I still like pneumatic tools myself. Nothing better than an air hammer or an air saw when you need one.
Good to see the tool trucks giving price breaks to these young people starting out. The industry needs these people as so many of us older guys are finished, they will always be in demand. He is doing really well for a young Tech starting out.
I have pretty much stopped watching "tool box tour" videos..... except yours..... yours are exceptional because you not only highlight the tools.... but you showcase some really great people..... Thank you!! Offer still stands for you to tour mine in Texas.....

the most i've ever used e-torx on in diesel work/Maintenace. i use the e torx for the freightliner one boxes bolts for the DEF Doser (unbolting the Doser form the side of the one box) and the top bolts of a steering box on the freightliners to replace the seal on the input shaft. but still needed bu thats why i dont spend the dumb money on snap on e trox, i use them here and there no need
7:22.. I've had those Pittsburgh long-reach hose pliers for about 8 or 10 years. They're really good. They're CrMo, and they've served me well for a long time. Never felt like I needed to replace them..... 24:28.. I would have told him no, I'm not joking. "Lifetime" means for life, right?....
I f'kn love this channel, bro. You'll be at 100k this time next year, and soon, you'll be traveling the country for these videos!! What a genius idea this was!! I mean, how did nobody think of this before?!
Very capable young man. I bet his parents are very proud of him. I loved seeing this episode. I got home from skiing today and went straight to this channel to see what was new today! Did not disappoint.
Snap on line wrenches are the best on the market. They are thick, heavy and do not flex or spread. My sets are around 45 years old and have never let me down. Thanks for the video brother. I am enjoying your tool box tours. My first video was the man with the tank setting in the shop. Edit to add: Matco, while it is rebranded tools, they do have many tools built to their specs. Some are only available through a Matco dealer. I have a few Matco tools that are not available anywhere else. The Mac RBRT was only available through the Mac dealer, although they didn't make them. Now that the Mac contract has expired Grip edge (original manufacturer) is offering them under their name.
Dude it’s so cool how much traction your getting! I don’t know if u think of it this way, but i think it’s so cool ur back in the same shops! It means the guys loved the videos and told their friends!! So cool bro keep it up
Love the Grandfather’s ratchet (38) tooth quote. Most of my Snap On ratchets are 36 tooth which I’ve been told are sought after however my 936’s were all purchased in the late 90’s early 2000’s. And they are still going strong to this day
Yup unfortunately the only way to get prices is calling a dealer. What most people don't realize, is anyone can buy them. It's just like buying any cat parts from a dealer.
I still use a speed wrench every day for putting trans pan back on mainly the ones that use cork or rubber gasket i eant to get like a super low torque electric bit driver or screw driver thing to speed it up a little then go back over them by hand
I am glad I came across this channel now as someone going to school right now to become a mechanic and having a dream to own my shop down the road this would help a lot to get stuff and not be super in debt while doing that.
@@smashyrashy i agree with you snap on seems to be using that as its "thing" oh were worth it so shell out 550.00 for a single 1/2' drive impact set its totally worth it blah blah blah. listen i bash snap on because they seem very predatory with their business plan lately but buying smaller things and making a few small payments to have them is a nice little thing but yeah snap on is deff. pushing the mentality its worth it shelll out that money
I like how he mentioned the actual price he paid for some of his tools. Mentioned he only paid 1300 bucks for his larger tool chest after scholarships and such. That's awesome. I feel like its almost an unwritten rule with technicians that you're not supposed to mention prices since the Snap On truck guy gives better deals to regulars vs non regulars, which I think if you're spending regularly, you should get a bit of a perk
I would like to have a dollar for every Cummins NT series over head I used the Snap On 3/8 speed wrench on. Now a days it gets used for hub caps and air to air hose clamps and now and then some door screws. The cool thing with the speed wrench is the ability to feel torque. Mine is over 50 years old, still the same as the new ones.
Everyone i know with a set of crows foot sockets. Says the exact same thing. I haven't used them yet but when I do I know It's because I really needed them .
I like your videos. I think something that would be cool is to ask all these mechanics what their favorite tool is, maybe their cheapest favorite tool and most expensive and any advice they might have.

Lol, am i losing my mind, or was i just watching a brand new video of the water truck and limo dude, and them the video went away and doesn't even show up on my history anymore. I thought it was my phone, but maybe you took down cause the messed-up audio
Speaking of the Icon ratchets.. I came across a short of someone that found a complete socket/ratchet set off Amazon with 2 ratchets for $10 cheaper than the Icon standard hard handle 3/8” ratchet. It’s literally the exact same thing with the SAME part number on it.. As much as I get why people are going Icon they are ripping people off on some things lol. Kinda like Matco rebranding tools all over the board.. Love the channel though as I’m a complete and utter tool whore that’s gotten back into wrenching again. Needless to say my Snap-On bill is going up weekly and he hasn’t told me no yet 🤣
Why does Snap On take advantage of people so bad! No way a 1/4 Rachet is worth 200! I been a mechanic for 37 years and I have Some Snap On, but would never pay their prices, just to say, Most of what I have is Snap On! Gearwrench, Capri, Sunex and others last just as long and you don’t have payments for 25 years!
I agree with you but if you have a consistent dealer they can fix it for free so if you don't lose it I am sure you can get your 200 out of it or down to a reasonable price but new tools are just as good and warranty is just as good

The student program is extremely good. You can get the snap on set for almost the same price as Carlyle on it. Probably not as good but still it’s like half price
