Excellent video - I was able to fix my own fuel leak for $50 instead of the $700+ quoted... My mechanic buddies didn't think I could do it on my own (because I'm female...), but thanks to you I can now go rub their faces in it! :)
Thank you..... I am a new diesel owner of a 7.3.
I have viewed pretty much every one of your videos, that is what has help me to decide to buy a diesel and do the work myself being on a budget a tight budget is the only way that I could afford it. Thank you so much for your patience.
I've got a leak on the back side of my fuel bowl. Thanks for this thorough rundown. I'm going to pull my fuel bowl in the morning. I've modified my fuel lines to the heads by putting hydraulic fittings in the head and also replaced the brass fittings with hydraulic fittings so I didn't have to worry about the fuel lines leaking...ever. &, no rubber pieces to go bad or replace on either end of the fuel lines. I used "brake lines" in place of the OEM fuel lines, flared to 37 deg. (JIC or AN)
All your video's are very helpful and informative. I am a new diesel owner and didn't have a clue about how to maintain it but thanks to your video's I'm learning one issue at a time.
Very well thought out. Your focus and detail regarding the powerstroke 7.3 fuel bowl rebuild is well documented in video. I just finished mine and with fingers crossed and the wind at my back "BAM" no leaks!!! Good job my friend...
Thank you! Glad this video helped!
Very impressive. Not only are you a great mechanic but a wonderful videographer and a scholar too. Keep up the good work. I'll be doing this on my truck this weekend thanks to you.
have you ever thought of using silicone spray when assembling parts with new orings?? yea, you should try it.
Thanks Trey, great coverage of the entire process!
Very helpful I've never done one on a pick up. I've done lots on mining equipment.
Whenever you clean a fuel system part(s) always use products designed for fuel use. For example: fuel additives designed to clean fuel buildup and gum. Same additives used in fuel tank works well in concentrated form for fuel related parts and you don’t have to worry about affecting O-rings from harsh cleaner residue.
Your disassembly and reassembly spot on, but choice of cleaners needs to change. Brake Cleaner absolutely worst to use on diesel fuel part(s) regardless how many time you wipe clean with cloth. Slightest amount of Brake Cleaner contacting O-rings will chemically react and cause future leaks.
Dawn dishwashing soap, toothbrush, hot water, and hair dryer works really well if you don’t have or willing to spend money for diesel fuel additives as a cleaner...!
i had the old stlye element short out and activate the anit-theft system on my 95. it would NOT allow the truck to start unless it is deactivated by a dealer. it cost me $500 to have my computer reflashed to fix this. i never reinstalled the heater to make sure i never went through this again. truck runs fine without it. i live in the NJ/NYC area and its never been a problem in the winter. AGAIN - great video.. thanks for takin the time.
The best video yet on this topic. thank you
Thanks very much for posting......It was a great help
what year 7.3 is this from? cause i think the o ring kits are different for the earleir years, also, im gonna guess yours is a later version 7,3 from looking at the fuel bowl heater. this is a great video, just what i was looking for. one thing id like to mention to anyone looking to do this with the other style heater element. BE VERY CAREFULL removing and instaling it. the older ones are much thinner, and if the element slips off the post its attached to, either throw it away or buy a new one
Subscribed my friend.I own 2001 7.3 I’m doing this too
Awesome!
Trey,
I just replaced the fuel/water separator valve on my 2000 F250 7.3L. I could see fuel coming out of the drain tube. The valve and o-rings are new, but it's still leaking and the fuel is coming out of the same drain tube. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do now?
Thanks, Dave
Trey, thanks for all your videos, very helpful! I bought the O-ring kit from Dieselorings . com Bob puts 2 blue and the stem seal is black viton for the valve now. rebuilt the whole bowl and its good to go.
So you don’t need to remove the fittings that the fuel lines connect to to reseal those?
outstanding viedo.....9.99999 almost perfect ....if you could tell me some part numbers and best place to pick them up it would be a 10 Thanks for the excelent visual education.
Thanks for this great video !
Thanks, great video! I just completed the fuel bowl rebuild and replacing the broken FPR housing. I added a nice one from Diesel-O-Rings. Where is the link to removing/adding the compression sleeves on the fuel lines?
Thank you brother
I pulled my fuel bowl hou an pulled my hpop. I found the non service bolt was leaking. I removed to bolt and the ball or whatever was in there slid down as I turned over the pump. I fliped it back up and it sild back in. I replaced the washer on the bolt and resealed. put it all back together and now it wont start. Good power just wont turn over .What do you think. Did I screw up removing the bolt ,or is the engine vapor locked somhow?
I've done the same thing an I noticed when I was looking at the new piece I could still see where fuel could weep by. I ended up notching the handle so I could turn it another 1/8" in the off direction .An that solved the problem
Silly question, but do you know what size screws going to the fuel bowl heater?
Great job! I'm making a video on a high mileage 7.3 mechanical face lift. I will put a link to you. Thanks.
I appreciate it!
thankyou very much, if the truck was running and the valve was open, is the damage instantaneous, or just don't do it again...?
Terry appreciate the instructional video. Question? Where did you purchase the rebuild kit? None of my local parts stores can get it. Central Texas. Michael
thank your video was very helpful keep them coming and my only question is did you get the Ford motorcraft rebuild kit
Had a question for ya. Rebuilt my fuel bowl got everything screwed back and plugged up and the trucking start. Any idea what might be wrong
Very helpful, thanks.
9:46 anybody else thinking in the gutter especially after he says "feels good" lol
thank helps a lot
I meant to ask you the other day. Where did you purchase your future bowl repair kit?
should lock tite be used for the metal threads for the filter port or do they hold pretty well without it?
Very nice
Thanks
can you open the water release valve while the truck is running, or shut it off to release the water
Great video will save me over $800.00 in just labor.
are sergio, I have a 1998 V8 FORD AND 350ECOLINE. I have no problem of diesel after 5 minutes that is running off as if there were no oil in the filter decreases slightly. I have both a clean filter in this side of the filter that everything completely disassembling the tank, the tap which is also present in my filter, is that it can not be the cause of light loss, so I empty the filter? causing me stop the motor. I think I understand that your lost slightly right? hello and thank Sergio
Trey: this is unrelated to fuel bowI'm changing out lift pump on 2002 ford excursion psd. the rear clip on the quick connect line. How does this clip come off: do you just pry the plastic up? The front is no problem I see how that comes off. the rear I don't. Must you get a new clip from ford after removal. Also on your video on fuel pressure test, I have a fuel pressure test kit from Harbor freight, has all the connections except the one that fits the fuel bowl location on your video. where did you get the adapter: Thanks, l.
Hey, your video is great! Where did you get the o rings for everything? I'm having an issue finding a fuel bowl rebuild kit from Ford and parts stores...thanks
Very helpful
ok this question has been asked before, but i dont see an answer. Where do you find the rebuild kit? I've checked with Ford and they dont carry any kind of kit. can you provide part numbers, or reliable websites, or sources for all these parts??
Have a video on the the removal of the HPOP, 2001 7.3 F250? I replaced the o-rings on the HP hoses but still have a stupid leak coming from the HPOP. (Not the hoses)...Thanks
Can you give us any info on the fuel filter header? Like where a guy buy replacment parts (spring, ball and "O" rings. Ford dealer has no clue what I need.
Thanks for the video. Where is the best place to buy kit for a 1996 e350 superduty 7.3. Thanks.
There should not be an oring on poopet seat .It needs to have its own seal.
What year is your truck because the fuel bowl look way different than my 97's fuel bowl?
Scotch pad not emery cloth
Can the fuel bowl rebuild kit be purchased at AUTOZONE or a ADVANCE
How's take the air out of the line s ? A m having this problem
Where did you get your parts to do the job. By the way great video.
amzn.to/2pHTdRm or diesel o rings .com
Thanks for taking the time to make a good video Trey! I've always had very good support/tech help from www.dieselorings.com
Also powerstrokehelp.com/ is a valuable info site also.(FYI...Even the dealership doesn't tell you to change the oil in your HPOP to save injectors. They told me they have never heard of that and it would be additional service.First time I drained my 99 F-350 at 60k it was thick n black. I now have 400k and never replace an injector yet)
Where do you get the blue o rings?
where the best place to bit the rebuild kit
At how many miles did you do you orings at?
I did mine at 125k when I bought the truck.
Not a bad video but you should really lubricate orings instead of assembling stuff with them dry, you could roll or pinch one. It'll make it easier without having to force things together either
You're absolutely right. A little diesel fuel would do great to lubricate the orings. I've learned a lot making these videos
@@TruckStuff1 I typically use either a little silicone spray or paste, as long as you don't overdo it and contaminate the system it works fine.
I have a leak coming from that dag nabit fuel drain again its the third time i had to change out O-Rings,I've never used that drain whats its purpose? can't i just plug those 2 holes up for good you know solder them up ? Its a 2000,7.3 with 242.000 miles..
Yes much harder to put the sleeve back in in the truck 😡
hello you can not answer me? thanks
13:05 what about that rubber on the brass plunger?
I have to rebuild my whole fuel system, I just did the tank.
Thanks libtards!
Is it possible that something can plug the check valve ( like a piece of glue from an old filter) and give you a no start situation?
Had a question for ya. Rebuilt my fuel bowl got everything screwed back and plugged up and the trucking start. Any idea what might be wrong
+Michael Mitchell Please Help yourself & only buy ALL your replacement Parts from Ford itself. As the aftermartket Replacements Parts are not upto Ford Standards. Yes they may cost more, but in the long run you'll be much better off.
