This is why I stopped watching Joe Rogan after he interviewed Chuck Palahniuk who wrote fight club, so one of the best dark humour writers around and all Joe wanted him to talk about was censorship, but Chuck knows it's no worse now than 2 decades ago and personnally for him as a ga y writer it was actually harder back then. At one point Chuck was telling a story of how he offended someone in an improv class he was at and Joe was like she should get over herself and Chuck a human being with emotions was like no I felt really bad, I tell jokes for people to laugh at, if people get upset especially the people you are telling the joke too, it's not a joke. Chuck was just too intelligent and empathetic for Rogan.
I listened to his interview with Anna Lembke. She is a brilliant psychiatrist who specializes in addiction. He kept wanting to steer the conversation away from her points to talk about psychedelics. She handled him brilliantly. She let him have his moments, and then redirected the conversation back into the research and science that really mattered.
It has to be so disheartening how misunderstood Fight Club was by the exact guys who needed to see it.
I understand researchers have public relations commitments, but this is just a podcast of shame
Joe rogan, the billionaire victim of censorship. He was censored so much that Spotify gave him military and millions of dollars. Joe confuses people disagreeing with him and speaking out about it as censorship. In joe subconscious, freedom of speech only applies to him.

I think Joe actually doesn't have a problem with trans people, he's just pandering to people who hand over cash to people with a platform that will stoke and affirm their hatred. That makes Joe the lowest of the low, it's absolutely cowardly.
He is the Tony to Jimmy Pesto... Fitting considering Rogan is conservative lite and Jimmy's voice actor was charged for Jan 6th involvement. He is a "yes man" for those with a plan. A nefarious one, but a plan. His plan is grip the coat tails of the movement until he gets to his destination or more likely falls and hits hard ground at terminal velocity.

As a trans woman it was really satisfying for you to say that us choosing to live our lives authentically is more in line with the concept of "burning the boats" than whatever the fuck this special is. I'm a martial artist and a gamer. Almost every martial artist I train with who are under 50 play video games semi-regularly. If we stop playing them, it's often because we don't have the time, not because we don't have the desire.

I know a trans man who hid at home the whole time he was pregnant cause he was so scared of being seen by people. I think the transphobic joke made by Rogan was directed at trans man not trans woman, few people know about that but lots of trans man who have partners who cant get pregnant decide to carry the baby themselves when they can and yeah that could look like a man with a beard but with a pregnant belly. Nothing funny about that.

I didn't assume he's talking about trans women in this clip, because sadly trans women cannot get pregnant (yet). I guess it makes sense to assume that's who he was talking about, because the right seems to always forget trans men exist.

The reason this type of comedy is not good is because these people think their first instinct is "common sense" so saying the first thing that pops in their head is automatically going to be funny and thus they never workshop material or do rewrites and it's the whole reason you would "freestyle" a comedy special like it's a podcast

Someone once described Joe Rogan as a male-to-male trans man.
Ok there is actually a story behind the whole alien anal probe thing, so apparently Joe does as much research for his jokes as he does for his podcast. He could have even used the story to contextualize his joke- that a man claimed he was probed by an alien and nobody believed him, so if Joe were an alien, he could do it because it’s happened before. In fact, he could just make jokes about other real life stories where people have claimed to sexual experiences with aliens. There’s so much material there.
Edit: especially with regards to psychedelics! Like, he could have said, “Yeah, man, I’ve had a few too many shrooms and thought I saw aliens, too.” Like… it’s so easy.

The passage Joe Rogan quoted:
1) Isn't anywhere in the Art of War, or at least I'd love to know the chapter where they cited that.
2) All the passage says is that when you're taking from someone else you have to commit fully. I mean, I can't find where he quoted that so I don't have any greater context. Why steal, though? Is Joe intent on invading a country? That first part of the passage is a non-starter for me; I won't be invading any countries any time soon.

This is a little nitpicky, but Texas does have legal weed or at least Houston has several legal dispensaries around town. Of course they only sell Delta 9 THC, which is complete dogshit weed. Gives me a headache and doesn't do anything but hurt your lungs. So again Joe was wrong about the weed in Texas.
What's considered real if Delta 9 is not?
There’s also the Compassionate Use law, so there are legal dispensaries with actual weed but still highly controlled and that weed is notoriously bad lol

My friends think I’m funny. Many times one of them have said something to the effect of “you should do stand-up” and I will be the first one to tell them I would be a TERRIBLE stand up comedian. So bad. I will stick to making 1-5 people laugh at a time. Joe should have as well.

Joe Rogan's entire brand is that he does drugs, I don't really get this assumption that his audience would be uncomfortable about him doing drugs? Like who's going to a Joe Rogan comedy show and is surprised that it ends up being about weed.
Rogan has come to represent the very subset of the American community he is firmly ensconced in. The toxic masculinity, good ole boy, fly by the seat of their pants male crowd. His millions of subscribers makes no sense on a certain level. But the reality of evolving culture has bandied together those who steadfastly refuse to accept, or even simply try to understand whats happening. You could almost feel sorry for them. If they weren't doing their very best to drag everything down because they aren't getting their way. If we manage to survive the next decade the dustbin of history will be filled with Joe Rogan and his ilk.
I know a couple of people who believe they were abducted by aliens. You can believe them or not, my point is, they never said anyone did anything to their butts. The reason we all know about the anal probe is that it was a favorite lazy punchline of 90's comedy writers, an group of people I thought Joe Rogan was deeply familiar with. Maybe he just smoked too much of that Texas weed and forgot that every single comedy show in the 90's used that joke at least once.

For your edification-a crutches, a necessary mobility device designed to give the user freedom and empowerment and autonomy. Crutches are not a thing you lazily lean on. That concept is ableist and it’s based on the idea that disabled people are worthless garbage because they’re just not trying to NOT be disabled.
Language is an indicator of our, and societies, deeply held beliefs and you doubled down on a eugenist talking point by saying “lazily lean on.”

2 possible meanings I understood straight up:
- he supports weed and says he misses consuming illegal products, as in "i miss feeling like a truand" kind of thing: audience laughs bc it's silly and absurd
- he doesn't support weed and implies preferring the state he's actually in to also have a strong ban on weed: audience laughs because they agree that the state should have the same laws; those who disagree can also laugh because they think oxymoron
