"Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" is actually an old novelty song from 1953 originally - the TMBG version is one of the best covers of it, because TMBG are awesome. The song was in turn written as a kind of joking reply to a 1928 song called "C-O-N-S-T-A-N-T-I-N-O-P-L-E" by the (I shit you not) group "Paul Whiteman & His Orchestra". Because groups sometimes had names like that in 1928.
Thank you so much for commenting this because I was having a real moment trying to figure out why I felt like the song was way older than TMBG's version, despite only ever seeing it attributed to them
Yes! I was listening to a podcast years ago and they played the 1958 version (because they mentioned the city of Istanbul) and I was so surprised bc I had only ever heard the TMBG version (which slaps). And I had only heard TMBG's version because of a Tiny Toon Adventures episode parodying MTV.
HBomberguy echoes what Jordan says about Doctor Who, and I agree. The showrunner, Steven Moffatt, does GREAT one-off episodes. My favorite episode, Blink, was by him and it’s an amazing stand alone story. But when he wants to give the Doctor these huge character arcs, the storytelling falls apart. He did the same thing with Sherlock.
The talk about work parody reminded me- the only media that has scared me in recent memory is the series Severance, where you split your consciousness into a work self and an out of work self and switch. So your work self is literally always at work. And if they try to kill themselves they just turn up at work again. That is the truest most profound horror imaginable.
even ignoring all the worker abuse and rights violations Jimmy Beast loves dabbling in, it's really weird how whenever people talk about Logan Paul they never talk about how good friends he is with Mr. Beast and what that might say about Mr. Beast's character. Coffeezilla, alleged truth-enjoyer, always ignores this connection (and things like Logan and Jimmy openly colluding with Gary Vee on NFT pump-and-dumps in videos literally anyone can look up and view) because Mr Beast is just such a good guy! you can't say bad things about Jimmy Beast, he's such a Nice Guy!
What irritates me the most about the prime is that Logan preaches that it's a great and healthy alternative to other electrolyte supplements when he knows literally nothing about health somehow. Didn't he used to box professionally? How can you know so little about basic sports health? Yes you need electrolytes. You can get the most common electrolyte you lose through sweat (sodium) from food. You don't need too many electrolytes because you will be dehydrated. Sodium and carbs cause water retention, which is great if you are actively losing water or sweat faster than you can replace it with food. That's not the case with most people. If kids and any uneducated person hears electrolyte companies say their product is "better hydration", they'll just assume that when they're thirsty from having too many electrolytes to just drink more electrolytes rather than to have water. And potassium is more for muscle cramps. That's why a lot of sports teams have bananas, which are actually healthier than lunchly Edit: completely forgot about the 200mg of caffeine. People have different tolerances to caffeine but this is marketed to kids. I'm an adult and 200mg of caffeine makes me jittery and anxious. Kids should not be drinking that anyway but some may be drinking it every day or multiple times per day. So glad we have influencers that promote an early caffeine addiction.

the anti-calorie mindset is such a relic of 90s dieting. everything was about "cutting calories" and i think a lot of that is just left over still and that's why it doesn't sell as well as it used to. Calorie's actual definition is "a unit of energy" -- it's crazy we decided that had to be the culprit, and then wondered why no one had the "motivation" to work out while dealing with this drastic diet restriction. i know today, and always, we still have a lot of diets that come and go, but much of it is almost a rebranding existing methods, and in general there's a lot more information out there. The 90s were *plagued* with fad diets, focused on cutting calories, all said from bad actors who couldn't be fact checked either... it was a nightmare.
Wdym? A reasonable calorie deficit combined with regular exercise is one of the only truly healthy ways to lose weight. It’s not the same as fad diets like keto that have people cut out entire food groups and miss out on important nutrients.
It's also such a bummer that kids might be eating these super low calorie/low nutrient lunches, since kids NEED energy to be able to perform well in school, academically, behaviorally, and socially. Not to mention that if there IS a concern about weight, undereating at lunch is just going to make them be ravenously hungry in the evening!
Cutting calories is pretty much the only thing that has an actual effect on your body diet wise... It's not a "fad" it's the laws of thermodynamics. You can get obese on greens and yogurt if you try hard enough. Having a balanced diet with fibers and proteins is good but cutting hyper dense sugars is the next best thing you can do to your body. "Anti-calories mindset" what a load. Really not digging the new leftie thing of dunking on sensible health recommendations. You all reeks of pseudo science. I guess doctors are all big pharma shills or something.
"Cutting calories is pretty much the only thing that has an actual effect on your body diet wise." HAHA that's literally not even true good to know I'm not talking to a doctor just another person convinced they know more than actual doctors. "the new leftie thing of dunking on sensible health recommendations" (followed by more dumb buzzwords) what a load. I never said any of that. jfc shut up. Were you around in the 90s? Do you know how literally every f*cking month there was a new "but did you try doing THIS?!" informercial or ad or whatever, not done with any medical facts just said by out of work actors? It wasn't about a SENSIBLE diet you can stick to, but quickly cutting as much calories and replacing it with things like more bread (no joke that came first), and then it was "more beef/animal fat in general, and butter" -- that was being sold as the "healthier option" over calories. I later had a coworker who was convinced eating tons of bacon in place of grains was going to help her loose weight more than anything else she could do. It didn't! I didn't ask her political affiliation either, ya f*ckin weirdo. Working out was encouraged secondary AFTER cutting calories, as I already mentioned, so how you gonna work out if you are exhausted before you start? This is what happened. People are actually talking to their doctors more now, doing research, and seeing what diet works for them. A lot of diets may mention cutting some calories, but many focus on the amounts of sugars, excess gluten, etc. This is a good thing, idk what you're upset about. Maybe stop making up fake arguments for no reason. OH actually don't even bother answering any of my questions I don't care hahah. "anti-pharma wawaawaaaa" no one actually talks like this you know that right hahahaha
@@Alarios711the "fad" aspect comes in when people take away the message that the lowest calorie option is *always* best. So someone would steer clear of a handful of nuts and only eat celery, because calories. Or have a salad that's only lettuce and cucumber, and avoid avocado and beans because they're more caloric, even though they're quite healthy. Just like being vegan isn't automatically healthier (you can eat nothing but French fries and Oreos and still be vegan), neither is eating low-calorie. Cutting calories *is* indeed a path to weight loss, like you said. The broad message that calorie-dense foods - even fairly healthy ones - are always to be avoided (rather than portioned appropriately) is the fad that becomes harmful.

after seeing dr mike partying during the pandemic, saw this in d'angelo wallace's influencer-19 video a long time ago and it stuck with me to this day, dr mike gives me mega ick 💀 this is totally random but seeing him being referenced here just reminded me of that
I mean, nearly every person broke rules at some point during lockdown. Every human makes mistakes. People crave and need social interaction. Yeah, dr. Mike was a bit weird with his "apology" after it was leaked that he went out, but they were testing before, during, and after. He wasn't seeing patients in person until he was done with a full isolation period after the event. The reality of humans are that you fuck up, but also it doesn't make you inherently a bad, sus, or double standard having person to do what he did.
@@mikusheadphones i mean he is a doctor, while i understand the average person breaking the rules (not that i empathize lol), he of all people would've known the guidelines at the time-- especially since it was the beginning of the pandemic (2020, and after the guidelines were out). he wouldnt have even been isolating that long at the time, which is why "craving social interaction" doesn't really make much sense. Regardless-- I understand wanting to see your family during the pandemic, or even one or two friends you hadnt seen in a while to chat. But this guy had a whole ass *PARTY* with 15 plus people on a close quarters boat, and then having it posted online is *wild*. I mean we saw last episode, the boys talking about how influencers have a responsibility in what they do/say to their audience- i feel thats true, and is especially true for someone like dr mike who had people relying on him for medical information (which is what his whole channel is about). no one would notice john doe going to a covid party, but everyone would clock a dr. mike in a minute. Why do risky behavior knowing you have a huge platform that'll catch you slipping? this isn't visiting ol meemaw because you missed her so much, or a couple besties, this is 15 people on a boat!! its not hard to not party during the pandemic lmao all i was saying is that he personally gives me the ick, and this is why it still gives me the ick to this day. i dont expect it to change your mind, i just wanted to state where im coming from. its not about testing (which even to this day is not always accurate 💀), its that he openly violated the rules by being at a *party* at the earliest/risky/uncertain/scary point in the pandemic as a massive medical influencer and was caught in 4k.
Yeah I'll never like him again for that shit. Covid IS dangerous as fuck and for a doctor to display such behavior is one of many reasons why disabled people do NOT feel safe around doctors.
Yeah, I feel like one of the top marketing ideas that Lunchly is trying to pull off is similar to what Lunchables is to us adults, but for the overly brand-- particularly their caffeinated drinks. When some of us think of Lunchables, there is this nostalgia and affectionate feeling we have for it. It's not that it tasted GOOD, but it invokes that childhood charm that we sometimes miss. They took essentially the same recipe/item, knowing it was already something kids loved, and added their drink to it. Now, they are probably hoping to hook the next generation.... to something that they could continue to buy as an adult regularly. THE DRINK.
Apart from the obvios ED connotations to counting calories, when I was a a food insecure teenager I used to buy foods with the highest calorie-per-dollar ratio. I can’t have been the only one.
To my knowledge, I think there’s more lead in Prime than Lunchables alone. It also doesn’t help that Lunchly seems like it comes from the same factory, meaning those probably have as much lead in them as Lunchables.
it's crocheted by hand, they'd probably have to charge several hundred in order to make $10/hr with how long that must've taken and how much yarn was used 💔😭 truly a labor of love!

Slightly unrelated but someone literally coughed at me because I was wearing a mask to help with my asthma 😭 it’s even worse knowing either way you can’t win pls
@@NerodotnetI hate the way those people react to masks. Like if someone’s wearing them they obviously have a reason to? It literally couldn’t be less obtrusive to them and yet…
I don't think it's a champagne problem at all. Getting to go to parties is nice, but it's also kind of work if it's for work, and running out of social stamina at work is very understandable, especially when masking neurodivergence, which is a very serious challenge of the disability.
I know that the main conversation is surrounding lunchly, but the introvert storytime corner was genuinely so therapeutic. like I relate to Jarvis' thought process SO much.
I was feeling so off for no reason when I clicked on this and I think it was exactly what I needed in a way I also can’t really explain. I put it on and started cleaning up and made my bed despite thinking I didn’t have the energy for that tonight. It’s in a good sweet spot for when I’m just feeling ugh
230 calories is not enough calories for a childs meal. They need around 400. If kids eat this for lunch or Lunchables they're not consuming enough. Maybe an afternoon snack after school yeah but not as a meal replacement.

And by 10p I will no longer function
I've taught myself over the years to be very vocal about my needs because I let myself suffer in social situations for way too long. I'll say "Sorry guys, my social meter is full for the night. I need to head out before I turn into a grumpy b*tch" and everyone is fine with it. Unless people are ignoring me, then they get the Irish goodbye 😂
Really like the doctor you guys showcased here. It's so dumb they are advertising electrolytes in a food product. Electrolytes are very specifically useful during high exertion situations like working or playing sports in order to replenish nutrients that you body is consuming rapidly which without will lead to cramping and less energy. Putting this many electrolytes in something a child eats sitting still feels silly.
Why does Lunchly feel like those knock off animated movies they make that are based purely on the trailer for whatever Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks movie is about to come out in hopes that parents will mistakenly buy it for their kids. It’s so identical to Lunchables in every way that I have to imagine there was _some_ hope of parents accidentally grabbing Lunchly off the shelf.
interesting that doctor who comes up I literally like this week rewatched some of it. I'm a big moffat hater, not just in doctor who. I hate how he writes women especially. he can do standalone episodes. he's written some good episodes but he can't write shows. stop giving him shows. annoying guy he sucks.
The shoe in the suitcase story is so funny to me because I come from a country where it's customary to pack your shoe pairs separately because otherwise the airline staff steals your shoes. I always have a backpack/carry on that's just got 3 one side shoes and it only just occurred to me how that must look to airport security in other countries with no context.
Valuable PSA! Personally, given the number of times I've gotten sick after plane trips even pre-covid, I'm masking up on flights for the rest of my life.
Not to creep on a slightly old comment, but this exactly. Especially with like 'low calorie' anything, I'd rather eat something that's like moderately sized and 600 calories than something that's 230 calories but 20grams of sugar, but phew? I guess?

Saw a video where a doctor mentioned that the reccomended calorie amount for a school lunch is 650 or so. To be so grossly under while also being well above recommended levels for sodium and potassium is a crazy thing to be true while claiming to be “healthier.”
Piping in as parent I wouldn’t buy lunchly due to the artificial sweetener. There is simply not enough research on children to convince me it’s safe for kids. The caprisun isn’t the best thing but at least it’s not artificial sugars. Obviously neither would be best but as a special treat a few times a year. Not the hill I’m going to die on.

I’m just happy that anyone, anywhere, is telling Constantine he sucks
HBomberguy echoes what Jordan says about Doctor Who, and I agree. The showrunner, Steven Moffatt, does GREAT one-off episodes. My favorite episode, Blink, was by him and it’s an amazing stand alone story. But when he wants to give the Doctor these huge character arcs, the storytelling falls apart. He did the same thing with Sherlock.
The explanation for the Silence, after all that build up, is so bad 😂
Agreed, Davies as showrunner with Moffatt as writer was the perfect combo imo
god not sherlock... i dont want to remember
just watched that hbomb vid yesterday! he doesnt miss 🤙
hbomb i mean, moffatt did miss. repeatedly. hilariously 💀
How exactly is Coffee ignoring that connection? His reporting focuses on tech scams and as far as I know Mr Beast hasn't done any of those (yet)

That's why a lot of sports teams have bananas, which are actually healthier than lunchly
Edit: completely forgot about the 200mg of caffeine.
Dude, electrolytes are what plants crave

1:25:31 kids can buy energy drinks (at least in California). They’re not recommended for under 18, but they can walk in, grab off the shelf, pay, leave. There are no ID requirements for the sale of energy.
And yet they can’t buy kombucha
@@ambersmith2612 that’s crazy, I’ve not seen that. Where is it illegal for kids to buy kombucha?
@@paigehansen8944 According to the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco, Tax and Trade Bureau), "Under [United States] federal law, if the alcohol content of kombucha is 0.5% or more alcohol by volume, at any time during production, when bottled, or at any time after bottling, the kombucha is an alcohol beverage and is subject to TTB regulations" meaning anyone under the age of 21 are not allowed to purchase it. the anti-calorie mindset is such a relic of 90s dieting. everything was about "cutting calories" and i think a lot of that is just left over still and that's why it doesn't sell as well as it used to.
"the new leftie thing of dunking on sensible health recommendations" (followed by more dumb buzzwords)
what a load.
The broad message that calorie-dense foods - even fairly healthy ones - are always to be avoided (rather than portioned appropriately) is the fad that becomes harmful.
it’s so strange to listen to this show sometimes because i grew up with a lot of similar media as jarvis and a lot of his jokes are exactly what my brain would say in response to that phrase. like i thought “like DELTA airlines” at the exact same time that jarvis said it

after seeing dr mike partying during the pandemic, saw this in d'angelo wallace's influencer-19 video a long time ago and it stuck with me to this day, dr mike gives me mega ick 💀 this is totally random but seeing him being referenced here just reminded me of that
I mean, nearly every person broke rules at some point during lockdown.
Why do risky behavior knowing you have a huge platform that'll catch you slipping? this isn't visiting ol meemaw because you missed her so much, or a couple besties, this is 15 people on a boat!! its not hard to not party during the pandemic lmao
all i was saying is that he personally gives me the ick, and this is why it still gives me the ick to this day. i dont expect it to change your mind, i just wanted to state where im coming from. its not about testing (which even to this day is not always accurate 💀), its that he openly violated the rules by being at a *party* at the earliest/risky/uncertain/scary point in the pandemic as a massive medical influencer and was caught in 4k.
Woah, I never knew about that?? Thanks for bringing it up that’s pretty crazy for a doctor 😭
Yeah I'll never like him again for that shit. Covid IS dangerous as fuck and for a doctor to display such behavior is one of many reasons why disabled people do NOT feel safe around doctors.
Omg sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who remembers his covid party and non-apology whenever he's brought up, thanks for mentioning this
the box says kraft heins company. its probably a white label product.
THE DRINK.
Counting calories is not something children should be doing, it's an adult thing for sure.
It shouldn’t be an adult thing either
Apart from the obvios ED connotations to counting calories, when I was a a food insecure teenager I used to buy foods with the highest calorie-per-dollar ratio. I can’t have been the only one.
