John’s video discussing the trans women prisoner, Demi Minor, who impregnated two other women was indeed in consensual relationships, there was no SA or r*pe involved. I had confused his video with a different case involving a trans woman (not named) who had attempted to r*pe a woman prisoner multiple times at Riker's Island (link to that article in the description). I apologize for the mix up and misidentification and will double check the context of my research moving forward. However my point from the video still stands, John is warping the context of this case and leaving out massively important details to fit his narrative.

That was my first thought too, as someone who wants people who have been locked up for stuff like weed possession (which affects black people at highly disproportionate rates) to be freed. The thing is.. the trans prisoner thing was that it was consensual sex.. yet he still acts like trans people are violent immoral monsters.. female prisoners are more at risk from staff and guards than trans folks.. heck, female prisoners are more violent against each other. Stabbing, assault, etc.. trans people don’t increase the threat.
great video; they should really change that child gender affirming surgery statistic to 12-17* though. Age 18 probably soaks up most of that number. I can see how that would stoke fear into conservatives to see children in school being able to do such life-altering elective surgeries.
Theres also a lot of precautions, like you need to use your preferred name and pronouns for the minimum of a year. People dont decide they're a different gender and then get bottom surgery within the same week

i fully agree with your end goal here (debunking a dumb transphobic argument), but i don't really think your rebuttal equating the claim "a trans women committing a crime in a women's prison means all trans women in women's prison will do that" to the obviously silly argument "a person wearing a hat committing a crime means all people wearing hats will do that" works. the transphobic argument is based on the claim that these trans women's transness is what ALLOWS them to commit those crimes, because their transness is what lets them in women's prisons. the hat example doesn't at all reflect that argument, because the criminal's wearing of a hat isn't related to the crime they're committing. and i think that the way the original, transphobic claim frames transness (or "faking" transness, whatever) as a PREREQUISITE to the crime being committed, makes its rhetoric even more sinister and harmful.

If my child wanted to be a pirate. I’d get them a pirate hat. In the same sense if my child implied they were trans I’d get them things that affirmed their gender.
If you really wanted him to be a pirate, you’d send him off to Somalia and have him help ransack a container ship. Because if he wasn’t doing any of that, he wouldn’t really be a pirate. i fully agree with your end goal here (debunking a dumb transphobic argument), but i don't really think your rebuttal equating the claim "a trans women committing a crime in a women's prison means all trans women in women's prison will do that" to the obviously silly argument "a person wearing a hat committing a crime means all people wearing hats will do that" works.
the transphobic argument is based on the claim that these trans women's transness is what ALLOWS them to commit those crimes, because their transness is what lets them in women's prisons. the hat example doesn't at all reflect that argument, because the criminal's wearing of a hat isn't related to the crime they're committing. and i think that the way the original, transphobic claim frames transness (or "faking" transness, whatever) as a PREREQUISITE to the crime being committed, makes its rhetoric even more sinister and harmful.
But it also makes it true, does it not? It is the prerequisite to get into a woman's only prison. You are either trans or pretend to be trans.
