Lovely time of year and such a gorgeous hike. Many thanks for bringing us along as always!
Thanks glad you liked seeing around this interesting place. We were very lucky with the weather on this trip. Looking forward to Summer coming soon :-)
The baron wilderness has its own unique beauty. I enjoyed watching the insect life commune with the plants. 🦀
We had fun filming them. That moth is one we have that comes out in the daytime.
It's interesting to realize how some land destruction in the past now favor tourism (and geocaching!). Thanks for another nice walk 👌🏼
Yes making the most of a bad situation. Geocaching sure takes you to interesting places.
What a huge barren landscape, not much left! Fabulous weather you've had too!
We had no idea the landscape would be so dramatic there. Yes wonderful weather. We were a bit nervous going in Autumn as we didn't know what to expect. We had only been to Otago in the summer.
Mt. Difficulty! haha That is just calling for a geocache!
Love all those locations. So much history. Nicely set up geocaches too.
It would be good to have one named Mt Difficulty :-) There is a walking track with that name in the area with a couple of geocaches. Some of the tracks in this area are closed October - November for lambing.
An amazing trek and beautiful scenery.
Yes it's a great walk around the site. Thanks for commenting.
I was watching this thinking you snuck into Arizona or Utah! :P
NZ is so full of geological wonders! Thanks again for showing her beauty!
Yes it's like Arizona or Utah in miniature :-)
You have such beautiful country side there. Need a few of those rocks for my yard!!LOL Thanks for taking us along once again!!
Thanks, glad you liked it. If we had known we would have put a couple in our backpacks for you :-)
@@GeoRick 😀👍
We drove past Mnt Difficulty winery, but no time for that, at the time we were on the hunt for PWGT caches. I would love to spend a few hours here, looking around, do the caches you two did. Thanks for posting the vid R+L.
It's well worth a second visit sometime. There is a Mt Difficulty track with a few caches on.
Good adventure, you two! I have never heard of "sluicing" before. Amazing how strong jets of water can basically destroy an entire area like that.
Thanks. Yes it did huge damage to the area. Wonderful to walk around there though. Amazed at how much gold was found there.
What a beautiful place! That view! So beautiful!
It's a great place to walk and geocache. We had no idea of the size of this place before going.
@@GeoRick I honestly thought you were another country for a few moments. :D
We said that two a couple of times as we walked along :-)
There's gold in them thar hills
Tons of it :-) If only I had got there before them :-)
