Really enjoyed your video. We have been considering doing this trip ourselves so it was great to see it through your eyes. I can't believe you missed some of the caches. Now you will have to ride it again. LOL Looking forward to seeing your other videos. Happy geocaching. 1066
Yes we will have to ride again :-) We were not sure how long the ride would take us nor how hard it would be for us. Now we have completed this one we will be in a much better position to judge future rides. We have purchased a phone mount which we think will help a lot. Good luck with your trip I am sure you will have a great time. Happy caching.
Yep, after doing our 2020 bike power trail, I went out and bought a handlebar mount for our phones so I wouldn't have to keep reaching down to get the phone to see where the next cache is. Those are some pretty cool electric bikes! I just bought a Jetson Bolt Pro electric bike that has a 15 mile range (30 with pedal assist). I can't wait to take it out on some trails! Thanks for showing these trails! Looks like an amazing time you two had!
@@GeoRick Remember in 2020 when I did that 200 Star Challenge by biking to all those caches on that power trail? Well, there's new caches along that trail and I need to ride a bike to get them!!! :)
The trail is in the South Island a two hour flight for us living here in Auckland. It's a bit of a journey to get there so we don't go often. Driving is time consuming as we would have to take our car across from the North Island to the South Island by ferry. Hope to get back there in Autumn next year and ride another trail as it was such a fun experience.
Glad you enjoyed it. Most people complete the trail in 4 - 5 hours. I have even heard of a 2.5hr journey. We just took it slow and enjoyed ourselves all the way.
I was surprised at just how good they are. Easy to use and make the journey fun. We are planning to be back in Otago next Autumn riding a different trail.
Thank you GeoRick's Travels. What beautiful scenery. They've done such an amazing job in creating these trails. The boardwalks are so nice too! They must have to maintain the entire trail regularly. I was thinking wouldn't it be nice to see a little burger hut along the way and what do you know! Lol! I imagine the night skies must look amazing w/no light pollution around. Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful bicycle ride through the countryside.🌏🚲🚲🌊🌞
Glad you liked our video and thank you for your comments. We are planning to go back next Autumn to try another in the area but can't imagine there is any as beautiful and as exciting as this one.
Glad you liked the video. It's definitely worth doing this one. We are not experienced cyclists but its hard to imagine a better ride. Thanks for commenting.
@@ankez Not too sore but could feel it :-). Most of the kids were on the easy part out to the vineyard. The bike hire people don't hire to kids as the trail is to dangerous in the middle section.
I would take 6 hours too, due to many stops for caches and fotos! Good to know how long it takes and where to hire the e-bikes. I thought it was funny to have cattle stops along the way. Some places look quite hairy to pass others by. Thanks for the video as usual.
Yes it takes a bit longer getting caches and photos. I have seen footage of sheep on the track near Clyde but none around on the day we went. You need to book e-bikes a long way in advance had trouble finding a slot on the days we were there. It seems Autumn is very popular.
@@GeoRick Yes, that's the trouble with booking far in advance, always hoping for good weather when you get there. You two struck it well in that regard. I don't suppose they would lend the bikes out if pouring with rain.
@@michaelcrosse8001I think they only cancel in high winds. We were going to Warbirds Over Wanaka but it was cancelled and we looked around for something else to do and found the trail. Thinking now that any time there is an airshow advertised may be a good time to visit a place as I am sure they look for settled weather.
Great effort guys!!! Love the video tour 🚲🚲 Not many cyclists coming towards you, thankfully!! Kevin and Peter did this one...Donna and I mooched round Clyde that morning😉
Yes those drop offs were a little scary in places. We had fun caching this way and hope to do more down there next Autumn. Hope you have fun with your bike.
@@GeoRick yeah bought the wife a bike a few years back , just before a mega were were going to , we took a rugged trail beside the lake, and she wiped out , fortunalty she did not end up in the lake

What a stunning view!
It was a wonderful ride. I think it's going to be hard to find another like this one.

Glad you liked it. We were lucky to have such a perfect day.
Awesome is the only possible word. Many thanks for bringing us along on such an adventure.
Thanks it was quite a ride. We hope to do more next Summer/Autumn but probably not as special as this one.

What an amazing trail. Impressive biking you guys did there, thank you, greetings from The Dutchie
Thanks, glad you liked the trail. The e-bikes made it an easy. We were a little nervous in the beginning but it turned out a great ride.

That's a really cool place. So many different landscapes in New Zealand. That looks like Utah or New Mexico.
Yes it is similar in many ways. You don't have to travel far here for the landscape to be completely different.
Looks like a real fun ride. My son just bought an electric bike.
I am sure he will have a lot of fun on it. Is there going to be a race between the e-bike and the one-wheel?
Great vid…you must have completed most of the geocaches in NZ by now :)
haha lots more still to find :-) because of the filming we don't get as many as others do.

Thanks Elly. We had worried about the bikes coming the other way but it proved not to be too much of a problem.
Awesome trail ride. I just bought a bike last week (non electric) and plan on doing a lot of exploring along the Erie Canal this summer. 🦀
I am sure you will have fun on it. Is there a geotrail along the Erie Canal?
want to be careful on some of those trails , quite the drop off . I need to get out and cache on my bike

That's a funs spoiler on the geo cache....
It is an amazing ride. Would love to do it again one day.
Who knew little thugs go hiking w/their cans of paint to tag the beautiful countryside?🙄
