Tiger Hills were over the valley to your right. When Turnbull Thompson surveyed the area wayyy back they reminded him of a place in Borneo(?) he named the same. You can see the striped shadows at dawn and sun down better.
Thanks for the video. Do most people go from Clyde to Middlemarch and not the other way around? Why is that? Also, did you hire a rental car? Where and how is the transportation arrangement? Thanks!
Thanks. Yes they do. Starting from Clyde allows for more accommodation options on the first day, so it can be a shorter day to ease you into the rhythm of cycling. Wind direction is always a gamble and we cannot guarantee we get it right all the time, but the perception is the prevailing winds of NW to SE are more likely to be behind you the majority of the way when starting in Clyde. This is more likely to be the case in spring and early summer but, of course, with weather it is very hard to predict and the wind can be there at any time of the year. As we say in Central Otago, if the weather is bad here, it is always worse everywhere else.
Great video, lots of camera angles. How did you luggage get between stops. You didn't look like you were carrying much. On a different note. Did you know the time you launch a video is quite important. If lots of people view in the first hour the algorithm thinks this is popular so recommends to more people etc etc. You can look on RUclips and see when your viewers watch most often.
Hi Lance. Thanks! We used shebikeshebikes to transport our luggage and bike bags and there are other providers. Yes I do look at timings and strangely most people seem to watch my videos Sat morning (or at least the last time I looked). I will keep checking though, thanks for the tip.
It was a tight fit but that side for some reason is a bit problematic had a bigger loop. I noticed it when editing and have sorted it. Safety first Grant.
Great vid! How old are your kids? My 2 younger kids love being on camera (8 & 10), my 2 teenagers, not so much, just wondering if it's a age thing 😁. Great seeing you at the 2w yesterday, we'll see you at the next one hopefully 🤘
@@jaselikesbikes how was doing the other side of the forest first? I was queue free with the exception of Underbilly, and the longest I waited for a shuttle was about 5 mins on Tawa carpark side. Rest of the time was rock up and go!
@@bumpsahead Zero queue until I got to the Tawa Hub side and it was longer. I managed to do tuteata twice and Kung Fu twice and get back at about 2:45.
The Manapouri end is the best part :-)
Isn't that one the lake2Lake?
Great video! I have done the trail twice but would love to do it again!
Thanks! Yes me too, the views are amazing.
Love your vids Jase! Thanks for helping me preview the trails
No problem, I am glad it was useful.

Is it near impossible to take a wrong turn?
Yes, I would say it is.
