Yes, this is one of many great songs of the Summer of '72 when I turned 13. Now, at 65, I had the pleasure of seeing Tower of Power on the Soul Train cruise this past January. Our generation is so Blessed with so much amazing music 🎶 🤗
This song brings back memories. Summer vacations at my grandparents house just before I was to go into high school when this song came out. Great times🧑🏾🦳🧑🏾🦳
Rick Stevens was one of the best soul singers of his generation. Too bad he spent all those years in prison but Tower of Power carried on without him & when he was released from prison, they let him sing once again in special presentations. Sadly he has passed on...RIP
I grew up in the 1970’s Tower of Power is just an incredible ensemble! All of their songs are great. My favorite song of theirs is So Very Hard to Go.❤
This one if the first songs I remember when the Quiet Storm format was rolled out on R&B stations and has been a favorite since then. It still sounds fresh and new.
I had this record one of the ones my mom and dad gave me when i got my first record player, i would listen to this song over and over thinking of my school yard crush would was my friend but she liked the cute boys i was not cute i was handsome i was told, yes later in life i got all the attention about 20 years to now and those cute boys are long forgotten.
Rocco Prestia was an amazing base player, he was the foundation of Tower of Power. I saw him in Ottawa Canada a few years ago. He was given a huge, long standing ovation, more than any of the other band members. He seemed a bit embarrassed about it. I thought most of the audience were base players who came to idolize the master in person. RIP ROCCO.
Love the music. was not my best summer, but I loved the music. I was married to a thing, mean tempered thing. He was killed later by someone. But I loved the music.
I have a great one for you. A fabulous singer from the 1940s Billy Eckstine. Try Billy Eckstine "My foolish heart." It will bring tears to your eyes, he had such a great voice, one of the best. My dad played 40s and 50s music when I was growing up in the 90s, and his music was by far better than anything my friends listened to. Billy Eckstine "My Foolish Heart" from 1949, a song that will warm your heart and give you tingles. Wait till you hear his voice, you'll thank me later.
The leader and founder of the band was dating this girl who a few years older than him. She dumped him using those exact words! This has benn a TOP classic ever since it's release in 1972 and a song they always do at their shows.
Its a travesty these guys are not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. You would think they meet the criteria since their horn section has been used with many artists who are already in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame such as Santana, Eric Clapton and Elton John just to name a few.

One of my first 45s. Great music!
Never forget seeing them live about 30 years ago. Have every song they ever put out❤

They have a dance tune - You Ought To Be Having Fun.

Soul, with a Capital "S". Digging on James Brown.

🩵🩵🩵 tower of power: 🩵🩵🩵 this song, react to: what is hip and react to: so very hard to go, that the group Lenny Williams came from.
