I did 3 years with this man and let me say, he is the sweetest man you can ever meet. We plated this one the yard often. God bless that he made it out.
I remember when listening to this in the early seventies, I was in San Fran. Was a good time. I still play it over & over. Im 72. I miss thise days... This & So Very Hard To Go 🎶🎵my fave TOP songs
My favorite is “Sparkling in the Sand” Tower of Power played at my high school school’s junior prom in the 1970s at the Jack Tar Hotel in SF. I’ll remember that evening my whole life. ❤️
Looking and sounding great after 36 years in prison. Hard to believe he's 73 years old there. Glad to see him perform again. Great voice . RIP, brother.
To me, he is THE voice of TOP. Can't tell you how many times I listened to TOP in my youth. I grew up listening to these guys, Chicago (Transit Authority), War, The Doobie Brothers, and all the greats of that time. I'm 64 now, and oh, the memories I have from that time. I wouldn't trade anything for those memories.
God, thank You for allowing us the opportunity to hear this song with the original players #TOP…. clearly Mr. Stevens has repented… You kept his gift intact to grace us one last time, many many years later. RIP Rick Stevens
I fondly remember this song from my high school days. It was not long ago that I found out about Rick Stevens' time in the "big house". How sad, he doesn't look the type. RIP Rick, the good Lord is the ultimate judge.
I'm out here in RUclips land crying. Tower of Power was MY coming of age group. I loved Rick's voice and so happy to witness his short return. He's resting in Peace now. 😥

I still remember this song during my high school and college days. It brings back the memories of the good old days. Tower of Power is one of my favourite band of the 70's aside from Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Ides of March, Commodores & Deodato. Now i am 68.
Great singer's career cut short by drugs. I sat through most of the trial and I gained sympathy for him. After the jury's verdict he was being led out of the courthouse but was allowed to make a brief statement to the media. I was standing there as he thanked those who stood by him , and pled to "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls: learn from my disgrace, stay away from drugs. They bring misery and destroy lives." It was a very moving statement. After the maximum time he had to serve, he finally was released and I was glad to hear the news. He began a new constructive life which unfortunately cancer cut very short. Rest in peace, Rick Stevens.
Hands down, Rick Stevens was the greatest voice of Tower of Power. Larry Braggs and Lenny Williams were also great. Rick has kept his voice youthful with great tone. He overcame his personal demons and persevered to once again become a vocal sensation.
You have that mixed up sir. Lenny was best. The others were good also. This song is iconic, but Rick Stevens is not the best Tower of Power vocalist. Hands down? Puhleeze!!
The Greatest blues song and singer in the universe, sleep eternally in sweet slumber , may all your sins be forgivin and may you inherit the Kingdom of heaven on THE last day when and only when JESUS returns and raises those from their resting places into everlasting life . AMEN AMEN AMEN.
Damn. One of my MOST favorite tunes of ALL TIMES!! And their horn section?? Only the BEST in the business!! Tower of Power, baby!! Live on for eternity!!😉 👍
R.I.P. Rick Stevens you're now free and no more pain or suffering. You have went to be with the Lord in heaven. You left us way too early while you were still a young man. You will be greatly missed and our loss heaven's gain :-(
Undeniably one of the best singers out there in his time and after all these decades can come back to sing it like no else can. R.I.P. Rick Stevens...."Your still a young man"

Absolutely Beautiful, Rick Stevens, I am in Love with the horns in this song.I cannot get enough ..I will never ever, out grow this priceless song !💜💜💜 Thank you all for your Music....
And that's the truth. Emilio said so himself. Rick had delivery chops evident in all the tunes he sings. Not one dud on Bump City. He could croon and get funky.
If I my add to what has already been said to this fine and talented human being Mr Rick Stevens there will never be a nother Rick Stevens and he has given me and many others a song that will live on in our hearts what it is to be still a young man or I will phrase a young person thank you for beautiful magnificent song your are now with the angels bless you I love you and you now a true angel of the Lord god

being a convicted felon and imate for a total of 6yrs myself it's this thing called spirit that keeps you alive. Not in the sense of breathing but in the sense of believing. Many men have the ability to tap into it at their lowest especially while incarcerated. By no means am I comparing 6yrs to Mr. Stevens 36yrs but as a former imate I know what it takes to stay sane in a very hostile environment. I applaud Mr. Stevens for staying strong and positive. Many spirits are broken in places like that. God has a calling for us all and when you are a believer He unveils this gift and calling. And believe me you don't have to be behind bars to be imprisoned. Mr. Stevens is a great example of endurance perseverance patience and BELIEF. He doesn't have to sing for money because HE has already enriched his life through his testimony.
I'm playing trombone on this. Was a great night!!!
Thank you. Had to be a wonderful night.
Great job James!!
You're great. This is a very meaningful appearance for you all. 😥 RIP Rick.
