    Can i use my 49 mm diameters lenses with small rig mini mattbox ? How pls

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  2 года назад

      The smallest adapter ring it comes with is a 52mm which means you will need to use a 49mm-52mm step up ring before you can use the one that comes with the matte box

  • @super16film
    @super16film 3 года назад +2

    I have to note that You can easily use this Tilta Mini Matte Box with those mentioned cine versions of Sigma 18-35 and 50-100 - their front thread is 82mm.

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  3 года назад

      Yes, thanks for the correction!
      Even though the front diameter is 95mm the filter thread is 82mm so you can put an adapter ring on it.

    The screw-on thread for circular filter alone is the deal maker.

    Hello mate!
    Do you think that's possible to use my K&F Concept ND+CPL 82mm filter on it?
    I'm asking because this filter has two kind of knobs for change ND/CPL intensity, and I'm worried if the knobs would be stucked somewhere..
    K&F Concept ND+CPL 82mm filter:
    pt.kentfaith.com/filtros-nd2-nd32-cpl/KF01.1088_densidade-neutra-vari%C3%A1vel-de-82mm-nd2-nd32-e-filtro-de-polariza%C3%A7%C3%A3o-circular-revestidos
    Thanks!

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  3 года назад +1

      Hi there! I’ve never used this K&F filter before. Looks interesting. My guess is for the Tilta it most likely will get stuck in the adapter/step up ring. With the Smallrig it might clear the adapter since the filter sits farther out. But because it’s fairly large at 82mm, the matte box itself may get in the way of the knobs? It’s just a thought, again I don’t have one to try.

    I lost a prismlensfx filter to the tilta flimsy lock...

  • @vquinto84
    @vquinto84 3 года назад

    Bro, that was a good comparison. I have the tilta matte box with ND inserts, although smallrig adapted the tilta size, they made it more interchangeable. Like the smallrig but, I only use 1 ND for the outdoors only. Looks like smallrig wins after taking a page off tilta.

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  3 года назад +1

      Thanks bro! Yeah took Smallrig a while to get this out but definitely an improvement over the Tilta. Luckily I have internal NDs so 1 filter slot is enough for me as well for the occasional promist

      Is the screw-on filter size uniform across all adapter rings? And how large is it? I could only find them saying "up to 93.5mm" on their website; not very helpful. I have a 77mm VND+CPL which is a lot larger than 77mm due to it being a combo-filter. It doesn't fit in the Tilta matte box and I'm hoping it might fit the Smallrig one.

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  3 года назад

      @@DesertCookie It should match whatever the lens filter size is. So if you’re using a 77mm lens and you put the 77mm adapter ring on to use the matte box, you’ll still be able to use a 77mm screw on filter.

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  3 года назад

      Perhaps! Might not work as well for wide angles though, the filter sits at the very front of the matte box and not directly in front of the lens like most drop in filters. Worth a try though.
