A comparison video between various diffusion filters would be amazing. If you will decide to do it make sure to test as many various filters as you can. Pearlescent, glimmer glass, black promist, promist, satin, black diffusion, low con, Hollywood black magic and so on.
great video - im racking my brain trying to find a solution for a 117mm diameter red pro 300mm prime to get my Tilta matte box to work on it. Any tips? Are the donut rings flexible enough to stretch a 114 up to 117mm?
Thanks a lot. How do you protect the surface your lens (scratching the lens), when you put on the matte box? Let' say a 95mm matte box on a 95 mm lens - (so no step up rings needed)
On the Blackmagic design 4K Studio Pro what lens would be good for long-distance Zoom if someone is honest a350 from you what would be a good zoom lens to get an up-close shot headshot and half shot
Very informative video. I am not planning to get a arri mattebox but for general knowledge this kind of videos are fun to watch. I am actually having tilta mini mattebox but I am putting it on just sometimes when in use with my canon Fd lenses because they like to flare a lot. Thanks Jake.
Hey Ondrej, First off thanks for watching glad it was a good watch! I wanted the vid to cover the principles of what makes up a matte box so people could apply it to lower end ones also, hopefully it does! Again, thanks for watching! Jake
You touched on this only for a moment early in your video and then never went back to it. It's extremely important to discuss in detail how a large matt box makes you look on set. The "sexy-ness" that a huge matt box brings to your rig is what makes your client belive they are getting their money's worth. It makes your camera look much more expensive and gives you instant credability. This is one of the important secondary functions of a large mattbox. You cant just "be" a good DP that produces great content. You must "look" good on set while you are doing it. The only exception would be if your client was not there or nobody was watching you.
he only touched on this, because that seems to be the main arguemtn from other "RUclipsrs" to get one. And as this video explains, there's far more to them than that.
@@blackbird8837 I can only say is that there is nothing more important then making your camera look more expensive then it really is. As camera guy insiders, we are never impressed because we know what's going on. But, to "non-camera" people?.....a big, fat matt box will properly impress and even dazzle them. This tactic deserves it's own video. Maybe it can be called: "How to look good on set and give a Hollywood impression".
@@clifftotten7609 I get what you're saying - here's why I disagree. When you show up for the shoot 2 things have already happened: the client has hired u and you have negotiated a price for your work. So whom you will impress is your next clients with whatever you are going to come up on THAT shoot. And then I would argue to improve your look spending money somwhere else before a mattbox makes more sense.
Filter video with all/most existing filters would be sooooooo cool!! Even if it’s an hour long
Please please do the filter video.

GoPro with large mattebox is classic combo.
dude, very nicely done.
And thanx for doing hard mattes, most people never heard, and such an important accessory on set.
Another nice feature is rain protection. I shot for hours in light rain today and my small rig mini matte box kept the lens totally dry.
lens filtration video please! thank you, great series of videos! I'm learning a lot
video about filters please!
Yes please! :D
I would love a quick filter video but what is that filter with all the wavy lines?
Hey Harry, it is an IB/E filter called the Ice-Blue Atmosphere - cvp.com/product/ibe-optics-600000000130-ice-blue-atmosphere-filter Jake

I only buy cine cams to look better. I don't use them. I will be adding a matte box to my Hermes ties collection very soon.

Do you wich Rota polarizer brand is compatible with mb t12? I would like to buy the NiSi version 4x5,65
are matte box ok in use with cobs' light ?
i havent seen the video yet but im sure it will be great❤
So we can say that cam bodies that have build ND’s like the C70 don’t really need a matte box right?
Not at all, I suggest watching the full video if you haven't! Jake
Filter video. Absolutely
Now Teradek or a quick history of the teradek
