And in addition to the venting, fan and shape of the ego battery packs also remember that ego wraps each cell with a heat dispersion material to further control any heat build up. Thanks for another informative and fun review Andrew.
You are by far my fav dude to watch on outdoor stuff on and you alone hooked me up to EGO. I have pretty much every single product they sell. I think I will put my old EGO mower for sale and get the 2021 model. It's a win win for me. Give up the old mower which is in great condition and sell it 60% off to make someone else happy while giving me a Father's day gift early :)
Looking forward to that Ryobi mower video. I'm so invested into the EGO platform, but I love to see the competition. Better products for us at the end of the day.
Wow, what a difference! Ego is so far ahead of Ryobi and there isn't a huge difference in cost. When will you be reviewing the mowers head to head? Great video mate but there were no funnies. :)
Ego has very advanced battery 🔋technology. I was testing the new flex 24v tools from the same company that makes ego Chervon, that charger is a beast! Fastest I've seen. Plus all the vents and technology ego DNA build in those batteries 🔋 and tools.
My question would be how does this fast charging affect the longevity and overall capacity of the battery over time? I always prefer slow charging for my own peace of mind when I’m finished with my chores. Hard to say without a more comprehensive and lengthy test. Perhaps EGO has data or disclaimers on fast charging that they can provide to the public consumer.
Speed doesn't kill, Heat does. People tend to think charging fast = damage to battery. This is wrong. it's Heat = damage to battery. If you can design batteries and chargers to reduce heat while charging faster to the point where the amount of heat to the cells is the same or less than a charger that is much slower, the faster charger wins.
Would you get enough power from a 200w solar panel to charge a battery on the charger and how long would it take? Also, can you charge a battery on the ego power station without fulling draining one of the other batteries?
Brother another great video I now have an ego duel blade mower and leaf blower This rapid charger is amazing I am loving me some ego I'll get the trimmer next By the way, shhhhhhh did you hear that. No you didn't because the mower and blower are ultra quiet
@@Kitearmy You win. My yard is small, the mower battery had lots of green light indicators left It only used one. Ego costs a lot, but I am very satisfied and this is after 1 use.
As much as I like and buy ego I'm a little delirious of how their batteries discharge after a few weeks when I need them the most. I understand it's for protecting its longevity. However it's a real setback sometimes. Do you know if theres a way to extend their discharge time to 3 months instead of a few weeks?
Battery is like life. Faster u burn. Faster u go. I stay with slow charger if you want longevity. But it is nice to have fast charger if u are commercial user. :)
Ego batteries have a pretty bad track record when it comes to life expectancy. For fast charging, even if you are dissipating Heat, that high flow of electricity will still shorten the life of the batteries. I know we are now so used to wanting everything quick but when it comes to batteries slow is good.
You are 100% correct happens all the time, I just got a replacement because one of my 7.5 ah battery shit the bed, all i used was the fast charger and I swear that's what killed it.
Most of the people complaining about life expectancy, when you ask a few question on how they use them, you find out they're using them commercially which you're not supposed to do even according to EGO themselves or they always use them on turbo mode which is peak output. That is going to deplete batteries fast no matter what brand or machine. E tools are easy to use but you still have to use them properly. BTW, fast moving current in and of itself doesn't damage batteries. The heat that it generates is the issue.
With only 150.00 separating these two systems, you'd have to be a real Knucklehead to pick the Ryobi. I have replaced so many dead Ryobi batteries through the years, they are Weak, and very Fragile in their care.. Home Depot has to be the Big Knucklehead in this, Now they are stuck with Ryobi, and Lowes gets EGO!!!! Boy, that was a Bonehead move, LOL.....GO EGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@Kitearmy I'll throw this info out there for how I was able to get the EGO Power app to work with my CH7000 charger: My modern phone would only lock up when I tried the setup process. So, I grabbed an old (5 years old!) android tablet with an outdated Android operating system, installed the EGO power app, and the setup pairing procedure actually worked! Keep in mind a few things also: This CH7000 charger uses WiFi, not Bluetooth. You need to use the 2.4Ghz portion of your wifi (not the 5Ghz). Many WiFi routers are dual-band and have different network names assigned to each band to connect to them. Once setup, I was able to go back to my somewhat modern 2 year old Motorola android 9 phone and launch the EGO app again there. Since the CH7000 was already paired up with my 2.4ghz network, everything worked there as well with no lock-ups. Personally, EGO made an obsolete product when it came out. If you are going to support WiFi, you need to support 5Ghz out the gate. Second, zero clear instructions about how to set this WiFi up. The attached tag on the power cable mentions nothing about this, and the manual describes nothing of value. You need to scan the QR code on the back of the charger to start the pairing process. That QR code is also VERY small. Many phone cameras can't focus that close. Hope something in these ramblings helps people out. Once it is running, you don't need to fiddle with it and everything is reliable.

Good point! - Glad you liked the vid
EGO is definitely king of the hill and refuses to be knocked off.

Yea but their batteries are HUGE. With just barely longer runtimes I'll keep my Milwaukee OPE

I want one so bad lol. I am getting that 10.0 amp hour battery when it comes back in stock to my lowes.
The funny thing is it is about the same weight as the 7.5Ah

The high speed charger does not change the warranty - I think they engineered this well enough to not cause long term issues

Is the 700w turbo charger bad for batteries?? Won’t it just kill the batteries faster in the long run
I own the ego platform. When will ego make a cordless shop vacuum? I ended up purchasing the Ridgid cordless shop vac.
