Hey guys thanks for watching! Just thought I would add that we filmed this whilst it was completely overcast outside ☁ We have a 400ah lithium battery setup running 1200watts of solar on the roof, so when the sun is out we're seeing between 60-65amps coming in. It's been a couple of days now since we installed the AC and have been running it in more sunlight and haven't really seeing any movement in our battery percentage at all, the solar is keeping up with the power draw of the aircon which is amazing! If you want to know more about the electrical setup, go check this episode out here - ruclips.net/video/I9qXTqT2Oco/видео.html
Wow, that’s going to make life in. The van so much more comfortable on the hot and cold days, you can travel wherever you want and not about the weather. Well done. Cheers Judy
That’s so impressive. I love the “can do “ approach you guys have. It’s been amazing watching the way you both have grown during the build . Love watching. 🩷🩵
Damn, talk about impeccable timing. I bought the Jack & Megan Off-Grid Bundle about 6 months ago and just bought the Truma Saphir this week from the same company. I'm just about to start a massive conversion of a brand new Ford Transit 470E Jumbo (with an additional 400Ah of Renogy Core 200Ah batteries) and 2, yes 2, Duoetto Mk2's, and your videos will basically shave 2 months (and a shit ton of cluster f**kery) off the build. Not all heroes wear capes.🤣
Have the exact same unit in our van. You may find you need another vent plumbed to the other end of the van in really warm days or it won’t do much to cool the van. Up high is best as hot air rises and cold air sinks so it’s the only way to cool the hot air in the van is to attack it from above. The remote receiver will turn blue when the aircon is actually on and will be off when it’s not cooling but the fan in it will run the whole time. The blue light will drive you mad at night as it’s so bright. You will be looking for black electrical tape soon. When the compressor runs it’s pretty loud as you will find out and will get louder and louder over time. A Good indicator that the filter is dirty. Screwdriver to open the clip holding the temperature sensor and pull it gently away then pull the blue grill out from the foam surround it’s not clipped in. Gives you access to the filter. Blow it out and clean it well and after a year or maybe 2 depending on use order a new one. Below I think 4 degrees ambient external the heat pump to warm it I think doesn’t work. That’s normal behaviour so switch the diesel heater. Hope these handy hints help. It is a great unit otherwise. Saved our roasted bacon in far North Queensland in middle of summer many times! 😂
Curious to see how well it works for you. We'd like to fit one of these units but would only have low vents like you. I've been told its better to have them as high as possible as cold air drops. Great work on the install.
Great Vid, can you please give a review down the track. I belong to a Pop-Top caravan site where the consensus is that the under-bed AC units are loud and don't really do the job, interested in your thoughts.
Be aware of water and dust getting into the aircon unit while driving. We had to put marine hatches on both holes. Sometimes you have to drive they water.
This is something I’m going to keep an eye on for sure! Will be interesting to see how it goes! I did see someone build some caps to put over whilst driving which I may look into. Have also had some people tell me they have had no dramas with dust. Time will tell.
Blocking one of the vents can drop your airflow by 33% causing higher pressure and speed of the air in the other two vents making it noisier ... it can also help the evaporator ice up faster ... you would be better to use the three vents.
AC use a lot of power, I have no brand ac unit for camping and it use 410w/h, 410w x 8hours=3280w. Unless you have direct power line, you need at least 6000w battery capacity like Ecoflow or Bluetti power station. Instead cooling the entire space, just try cooling the bed area and cover it with insulated tent or curtain for more cooling efficiency and better energy consumption
Hey guys , been waiting for a video on these units , so good that you have one ... Could you let us know how many watts it uses to turn on and once its up to temp if it lowers the watts ... I have 1600 watts of solar and 480 amps lithium battery.... Interesting to see your relpy i saw the 77 amps but that was on start up ... cheers
Hey mate, you have a very decent power setup! You won’t even notice this running for sure! Today we had 60amps coming in from solar, we had the aircon running for a good couple hours and noticed once it was up and running it was drawing about 50-60amps when the compressor in the aircon was running this was with the fan setting on low which still pumps out some decent air. We had no issues with loosing battery power the entire day. We even had the battery’s charging at some point whilst the aircon was running. We have 1200watts solar and 400ah battery. Hope this helps. This was also running starlink, fridge, laptop chargers, and the inverter itself.
@JackandMeganVlogs thanks for the reply, that's perfect what a fantastic unit... Good stats 👍 great job you guys are great . Good honestly people. Love the van you are very lucky to have her🙏 we're travelling WA at the moment dreading summer hence the timing of this video is perfect.
Where is the Dust filter located? is it in the blue louvered section or is it in the Air Vent you did not use? The filter needs to be in the system or the evaporator will clog up in a month or so. Filter needs to be cleaned every month. The wire screens are needed to stop things nesting in the warmth and stop leaves etc from getting sucked into the Condenser. The condenser may also need to be cleaned regularly especially if using the AC in dirty dusty conditions.
Hey mate my thought process on this one was to keep the weight as close to the axels as possible but it honestly wouldn’t have made to much difference now that I think about it!
Nice unit is it quiet on low mode and how much do they cost im very intrested when my heavy roof top one packs up in the future but pray that wont happen 🙏
It’s not to bad maté considering it’s under the bed I could happily sleep with it running! A quick look on Caravan Rv campings website shows it’s up for $1919 including the ducting.
HA GUYS 👋 YER I WAS JUST WONDERING ABOUT MUD AND DUST COVERING THE OUTLETS BUT IF AS YOU SAID FIND SOME CAPS TO CAP THEM OFF AND JUST DIVE UNDER AND REMOVE THEM WHEN UR GOING TO USE IT 🤷♂️ BUT YER LOOKS FLASH 👍 QUESTION IS THAT RUNNING OFF A 3000WATT INVERTER ??
I will keep everyone updated on this as we continue our travels! I’m also interested in this to. I’ve had a few people message through that have the same aircon installed and have said they have had no dram with dust so far. Thanks for watching.
I heave been doing some thinking, and may have come up with an idea to creat a dowel effect/vent that still looks nice. So far so good but yes the vent is ideal.
Hi. I was looking at installing one. Hot air goes up and cold down. So, the trick with the ducting is to run 2 pipes into the hanging cupboard up high with one for the bedroom and the other for the main area and close the vent to where you are not using and put a thick curtain into the bedroom. It will work a lot more efficient.
U guy are spoilt big time...do like the olds did...wet towel around your neck works big time... Anyway I saw a website that are rebuilding caravans like Mertyl... Now the cocktails and oysters on biscuits for afternoon drinks in Mertyl...😂❤😂❤
Jack. I am very concerned that you have not understood the dust filter for the unit. All A/C's need the dust filter to stop clogging up the inside of the unit itself. The filter you said you do not want to use actually fits just below that three outlets covering the Blue internal inlets. It must be on the unit itself, not separate on the wall below the bed as you discribed. I looked at the manual and it shows this. If you do not fit it correctly, the unit will not last very long. Also the filter will need to be checked and cleaned regularly to prevent blocking. Look at the Maintenance on Page 7 of the manual. Cheers Tony😎
Hey Tony, thanks for watching mate. If you go back and watch closely that filter cover is on still. That cover I held up in the packaging is a seperate part (Black grill) that is meant to be cut in so that the filter with the blue cover on the front of the unit under the three holes can then suck the outside air in through the vent I held up. The black grill I held up was meant to go on the dowels but we didn’t want to cut into them as we have plenty of open venting around the bed for cold air to be sucked down and re circulated through the filter with the blue cover over it. I had a good read of the manual I’ve double check and the filter is on with the blue cover over it.

I would add some very fine mesh over or under the holes on the outside to prevent ants from entering.
Myrtle is the coolest caravan on the block... amazing video as per usual!
Great installation video guys.
Handy to show people an option that doesn't go in the roof.
Handy little unit hey!!

I love it!! Would love to see it all up and running once you have it done!! 2 hot waters will be awesome! Glad we could help 😃
I got one working a treat. Had it for 4 years.

Good to hear mate!
Luxury 😅❤ remember back in the day in that sweltering heat? Love you guys

Good old mert hey!!

Well done guys 👏 thats going to be awesome over summer ☀️
So keen for some beach days in Myrtle now! 🏖️☀️

I am happy for you guys, still nice and cool here in Perth
Yes my old man told me it has been nice around Perth!
@@JackandMeganVlogs Your old man is probably about the same age as me lol
Nice set up, I didn’t realise they were that power hungry, 70amps is a lot of draw. Lucky you have all that solar.!
Apparently this is one of the lower power drawing aircons on the market. The roof mounted ones use a lot more.
@ yeah I think we will stick to caravan parks when it gets stupid hot haha.

your going to get heaps of dust inside the aircon unit maybe u could work out some sort of cover on the outside to cover it on dirt rds ??

Hey mate, still just under 2T our ATM is 2T 👍
Lovely Ep
Thanks Craig!
Great vid! Megan how do you like Lisa Jewell? I saw her book on your shelf. I'm obsessed, been reading them all back to back for the last 12 months!
Blocking one of the vents can drop your airflow by 33% causing higher pressure and speed of the air in the other two vents making it noisier ... it can also help the evaporator ice up faster ... you would be better to use the three vents.
Thanks for this I’ll look at plumbing in that third vent for sure!
If it runs off 240v from the inverter and weighs 23kg why is it so much better than a small box air con?
AC use a lot of power, I have no brand ac unit for camping and it use 410w/h, 410w x 8hours=3280w. Hey the filter is in the blue cover that’s on the aircon the thing I didn’t use was just a grill nothing to do with the filter 😃
Nice work mate, did it not fit towards the back wall more? So you can have the storage at the front for ease of access?
Hey mate my thought process on this one was to keep the weight as close to the axels as possible but it honestly wouldn’t have made to much difference now that I think about it!
@JackandMeganVlogs yeah at only 27kg, it would have been OK back there. Your kitchen would balance it out ok.
Safe travels🤙
That looks awesome, one question, what about going through deep water ?? It will happen one day .....
Thanks for watching mate,
