To use the Fuji M-Mount adapter you will need bayonet adapters for the Leica screw mount lenses. I only have one M39 thread mount and it has a bayonet adapter on it
Thanks for this video - For my Fuji X-T4 - I just tested out my Leica 50mm Elmar f3.5, Nikkor 50mm f2, Canon Serenar 35mm f2 and Canon 85mm f2 (All Leica M39 screw mount lenses) the 35mm and 50mm lenses focused fine but the 85mm Serenar would only focus at close distances - maybe that's OK for close in portrait shooting but long distance focusing wont work on the 85mm - I'm thinking it's like this for all the longer focal length lenses on a cropped sensor camera. I also have a Leica M39 to Nikon F mount adapter on the way and I'm thinking the longer focal length focusing may be OK for my full frame D750 and D850. I'll update you with my results here.
Like your videos. I only wish I had the money for a few of those Leicas! It would be interesting to see you compare the Leicas with equivalent Fuji lenses. Right now, I'm shooting old MF Nikkors on my X-T2 and prefer manual focusing, brings a more enjoyable aspect to my photography.
Tom I was lucky. My father left me most of those Leica lenses. I’m betting the Leica glass and the Fuji glass are similar in sharpness. The color will be a little different not good or bad just different.
Thanks for the video I have three fast lenses for my Leica M6 and M10 (21mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.4, and 90mm f/2). I also have a Leica M to Fuji X adapter. However, I rarely use my M-mount lenses on my Fuji mirrorless bodies because ... 1. I see very little difference in image quality between my 21mm Summilux and my 16mm f/1.4 and 23mm f/1,4 Fujinon lenses. 2. I also see very little difference between the portraits taken with my 90mm Summicron and my 50-140mm f/2.8 Fujinon. 3. Lastly, I so rarely need the 35mm focal length on my Fuji mirrorless that my 16-55 mm f/2.8 Fujinon zoom makes adapting my 35mm f/1.4 unnessissary.
Nice music track. Thank you for putting this together. I've had the X-H1 for just two days now and the weight is something I hope to learn how to manage. Honestly having doubts if it was the right choice for a daily run-n-gun, in and out of my bag while out cycling camera; I do have small hands and issues with my wrists . I chose it primarily for its weather sealing, sturdier mount for my vintage lenses - which adds additional weight- and IBIS. I may reconsider the X-S10 or something smaller for good weather, run-n-gun shooting. The T1 is my daily shooter for stills and I love the T2 for video. (If only the X-T2 had IBIS! ) I would have opted for the X-T3 since I love the X-T line and within my budget now, but again, no IBIS. What to do, what to do haha. First world problems I know but don't misinterpret me, I am appreciative for what I have and love each camera I've ever used....there is just no one size fits all I don't suppose. I appreciate your videos on each of the Fuji's, your enthusiasm and insights are inspirational. I'll be interested in hearing and seeing more of your own list of pros and cons and maybe some issues we don't often consider with each model. Peace and nice work as always!
You got some great images with those Leica lenses! I wouldn't mind picking up the Leica 21mm lens. Are the adapters very expensive? Question on the X-S10. Would the Fuji 70-300 lens work ok on that camera, or would it be too front heavy?
Thanks Geoff! The Leica 21 mm Super Elmer is a beautiful lens. This adapter is $199. Beautifully well made not like the cheap Chinese knockoffs. It’s also electronically connected to the camera. The 70-300 fits this camera pretty well but it is a little front heavy.
My Summaron is a thread mount fixed so it does not collapse. I have a thread to bayonet adapter on it. It does not come close to the sensor since it’s fixed. My first generation 28 elmarit has a rear element that goes pretty far back but does not ouch the sensor. Fuji’s plastic tool works great letting you know how deep the rear element can go. So collapse the lens and use the tool to see if it will fit.

I'm totally ignorant of the Leica types and all the various names add to my confusion. I do have the M Mount compatibility chart Fuji publishes for the M mount adaptor (shows and list of Leica and others in says if they are compatible, some are not), and do not find either the 21 or 50 mm lenses you used on their list. I see they supply a device to tell if a lens will work, but I'd hate to spend $2500 on a leica lens and find it would not be compatible with the adaptor. Also Fuji says an L-M conversion adaptor required for L mount lenses, but I cannot find this object anywhere. I did order the M mount adaptor and a 40 mm Nokton classic F1.4, which is compatible. Waiting for delivery. How did you know the 21 and 50 mm would work?
There are very few Leica M-mount lenses that do not work with the M-Mount adapter made by Fuji. My Leica 21mm f 3.5 Super Elmar and Leica 50mm f1.4 Summilux are fairly new and fit perfectly. I'm not sure why they would not be on the list. The plastic tool that comes with it is very accurate when it comes to making sure lenses will fit. I have a 21mm Super Angulon from the 1960's that does not fit because of the rear element receding into the camera to close to the sensor. As long as the lens is an M mount lens and does not have a rear element that recedes into the camera very far you should be fine. My 28 mm f 2.8 Elmarit from the 1960's has a rear element that recedes into the camera but the plastic tool showed it would fit and it does beautifully. I had to return my X-s10 because everytime I picked it up my hand would knock the focus joystick off the center. It's a mistake Fuji made and many have also mentioned this. I loved the grip and the rest of the camera but the final straw was christmas time when 90% of my pictures were no good. I wish Fuji would bring back the d pad. Cheers.
Yes I hear you on that. I had that problem every once in a while and touching the back button brought it back to center. I have bigger problems with touch screen being on and my nose moving the focus point around. So usually have it turned off.
I have not really had that issue but I think the Menu/OK & Disp/Back buttons are too small & being flat to the body it's hard to feel them when the camera is to your eye; they are much better and got a raised bump on my Nikon DSLR. And yes, a D-Pad would be good too, like on my Panasonic camera. Apart from that, it's a great little camera :-)
