Hi Kirk - I agree that the x100VI is basically a smaller version of the XT5 with a fixed lens, but I still think that can be very compelling for many folks. I have owned the x100F for a number of years now, and I just recently added the XT5 to my collection. The XT5 is amazing, and I see it being my primary camera for years to come. Still, my x100F has its place. It’s just significantly more portable, and I can bring it along with me more readily, especially when photography isn’t my main objective. Literally right now, I’m trying to figure out how to make my XT5 smaller by using a pancake lens for those situations where portability is my main goal. But Fuji has very limited pancake lens options, and its main pancake lens is generally out of stock. In short, I think it’s OK to own both an XT5 and an x100 series camera, and Fuji’s new x100VI is pretty impressive. I may upgrade my x100F at some point. Anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts since I own both form factors. Keep up the great work! I really like your videos and highly value your perspective!

That's the great thing about Fuji. Similar guts, but different bodies for different tastes or tasks. It's sort of a spirit from their film heritage. A roll of film could end up in many different types or brands of cameras.

Size and weight is the reason to get it. Perfect for traveling and long days out on walkabouts/street photography. XT5+23mmf2 is still a lot heavier and bulkier to carry around. That for me is the primary reason. I had the x100 first version and that’s what it’s perfect at, travel and street stuff. Also not all of us like Leica aesthetics, some of us prefer Fujifilm every time.

Wanna know who else won't be getting the X100IV? About 75% of the people that want one. Once again, Fujifilm has to employ the now standard "Didn't anticipate the demand, so..."
Me personally, I've never been stiffed by the 26mp on my X-T3 and have no need for 40mp. I would have liked to buy a never available X100V, but have no interest in the IV.

You have to admit the X100VI is a thing of beauty, more so in silver. However I have an XT5, I also had the 23F2 (sold it), most of the time I have a 16/80 on it, it works for me.

  • @f8fj

To me it comes down more versatility (xt5) vs portability (100vi). It’s hard to say one better than the other because the better camera decision will come down to personal needs.

  • @55whiplash
    @55whiplash 2 месяца назад +1

The guts of the x100vi are pretty different, I don't see them as that similar. It's all about flash sync at high speeds, and the advantage of a leaf shutter. The small form factor is a bonus but if you won't take advantage of the leaf shutter it's a waste of money. The fact it has most of the hybrid capabilities of the XT-5, makes it an amazing camera. I have an X100S and I love that camera, the rangefinder form factor, and the OVF/EVF works great, I always carry it when I'm out with my "serious cameras" .It weighs less than many lenses, and can fit in a large pocket, the best shots of the day often come from the old x100s.

I wish I could get in my time-machine and see what the XPro4 has to offer! ;) While my photo needs are non-professional so my needs are simple, But not so basic that I could make due with a fixed lens camera which I can emulate with my Xpro3 and 23mm f/2 Fujifilm lens.

Nothing wrong with you saying you don't want to buy the 100VI, lets be honest, it's between $400 and $750 more than the 100VI if buying a used (or new) Fuji 23mm... and yeah, I don't need a 100VI since I have a X-T5, but for a day to day carry those grams add up and I prefer keeping the 100VI in my work backpack.

I have had the XT-3 which I absolutely love, for four years and was debating whether to upgrade this year to a newer camera. My ideal upgrade would be to an X-Pro 4 however from what I have read and heard, Fuji will not be releasing it this year if at all. I have tried the XT-5 and don’t think it worth upgrading to it. The X100vi whilst a beautiful camera is to restrictive with the fixed lens. So I will stay with my XT-3 for now. Wish Fuji would provide some information as to whether an X-Pro4 is in the pipeline.

Being left eye dominant I don’t like Range Finder style cameras. That’s the main reason I want get the VI or any other version of the camera. With all the hype the used models are seriously over priced. The VI is also over priced for a point and shoot camera. If I wanted a point a shoot camera. I’d go for the GR. You can actually put that in a pocket. But, it does look cool.

I don’t own a XT5. I preordered the X100VI on the first morning. There is a waiting list of one million bodies. I may have to wait a year or two to receive A body.
I want the VI because of its small size. The XT5 with the 23mm cron may be too large and heavy to schlep all day when I walk the streets for between 10 km and miles. That being said, I don’t fancy the long wait I’ve signed up for. Maybe there will be a XT5 sale and I’ll pull that trigger. Maybe I’ll win the lottery. Who knows?
I don’t want a Q3. Like you, I don’t want to spend the money on one of those things. In addition, I don’t need a 60MP sensor. Think huge files. Plus I don’t like the Q3’s 28mm FOV like you. It is simply too wide for me other than when I work a parade or demonstration. Different strokes.

Marty sorry to hear you jumped on the bandwagon for the 100Vl. Nice camera and lots of great features oh and the optical viewfinder. But once again Fuji underestimated the demand and you may not see it for awhile. Look at it this way pick up the X-T5 with the 23 f2 shoot with it and see how you like it. Then when your X100Vl finally shows up sell the XT5 and 23 or send the X100Vl back. Just a thought .

I mean, if you want to compare it to the XT-5 + 23mm F2, you're talking $2150 on Amazon vs Nikon ZF + 40mm F2.8 for $2240. Everything I've seen from reviews point to the conclusion that most of the Fuji glass can't resolve that 40mp sensor anyway. Personally I'd opt for that classic Nikon body, FF sensor, and the Z8 guts for $90 more😊
I don't think the 100VI makes sense comparing to anything else except maybe the Fuji Pro# series. These are cameras you buy for the viewfinder experience.
