Max is cool a cool guy. No pretentious front to him, just being himself. Good on you Max for not being fake on camera and just being honest.
He's more relatable for sure
Max is so sweet; 'I think I have found my pride in other things like being a mathematician, a first aider, and a nerd'. What an actual angel.
Max is literally an 18 year old Dustin from stranger things
Stephen Stack looooool that’s exactly what I thought except he’s got teeth 😂😂😂

Cookie cutter Pryzm
Max seems so lovely! I’d love to be his friend, he seems so wholesome. His parents seem really nice as well.
Kovu Kingsrod kovu you are everywhere. Max 100% seems like the kind of person I would be friends with #nerdsunite !
Lol hi dude
The maths guy seems so nice :)
He's so cute
I can't even fathom the amount of action those marvel bedsheets have probably seen
kifgretem 😂
They would marvel at it
im a second year uni student now and honestly i HATED first year. i ldidnt really get on with the people i lived with and really hated being there. i nearly dropped out last christmas, i was at home every weekend cause i hated everyone i lived with, i was extremely homesick and would cry myself to sleep every night, butttt i stuck at it and now i bloody love it. i live with girls from my course, who are all very lovely, and im having the best time now. uni can be hard but stick at it cause it'll be so worth it in the long run.
justice stent you’re strong for that girl, thank you for the advice
This is actually so reassuring cause I’m hating it because me and mh flatmates don’t really get on
locketgirl8500 you’ll be fine, trust the process ❤️
this is me right now lol. just started a week ago and I just ate uni because of the homesickness. hopefully things will get better
bessie did things get better?
I go to uni in the UK and about 5% of people are like this, just thought people should know

"Just some chicken and smiley faces nothing too complex" I relate so much Max
Idek why but this makes for such an awkward watch. Why is it edited in such a dramatic way as well? It's really not that deep hun.

Retake and smash it.
There is no shame associated with gap years and retakes.
Hey you can get into London met
"the equivalent of 3 A*'s", so you got 3 BTEC's love?
One would infer that
or equivalent to like a 45 in IB?
@Basics the new grading system have been used yet so yeah btechs
Its just ucas points, you get the amount of ucas points that you would with 3 a*’s
Bro lay of the btec kids, honestly there are btec kids that are going to do the same course at the exact same uni or even a better university. Doing a btec doesn’t mean that your less intelligent, there are plenty of reasons why people choose to do btec. My reason was that my sixth form was basically such dickheads that promised me 3 A levels if I got the grades, which I did, and after I got the grades they said that I wasn’t eligible for it.
A good 80% of these comments are everyone loving max. And I agree he's a good Boi.
Watching their enthusiasm plummet will feed my soul and nourish me through second year. Their sacrafice is appreciated.
These young adults are really courageous for getting involved in this. Kudos to them all! Especially Max. He's so genuine and I hope he makes the friends he is looking for.
I think they should have taken a gap year before going to university. That's what I did
"Fine **shrugs**, not as good as mum and dad make it...but I don't know what "I've done wrong either" is a mood
This is so relatable! If you’re a first year and you are homesick, down or struggling.....Just keep pushing through! I know there are times where you just want to pack your things and go back home but there are also amazing times ahead of you. Trust me, I’m in my 3rd year and have had the BEST experience, made friends who I love and honestly do not want this to end! I also struggled to settle in, it doesn’t happen instantly but you’ll get there :)
max looks like woody from suite life on deck

Lows of freshers week: being an introvert who doesn’t like drinking
Clover OW I a so scared of going as an introvert that doesn’t like loud noises and doesn’t drink any advice
Panda Seal some universities offer alcohol free or quiet accommodation, so you could pick that option- that way you’ll meet like minded people. Honestly though you’ll be fine, I’m in my second year now and I found a lot of people who don’t like drinking and prefer to do other things :) I would advise you though to try and put yourself out there as much as you’re comfortable with, like sitting next to people you don’t know in lectures and trying to talk to them.
Clover OW okay I will try thanks for the advice
I'm quite introverted and do drink which helps with socialising. However, I came across some people even more introverted than me and all I can say is that pushing yourself to try and make an effort with making friends is worth it. You can do this in Freshers by literally just going up to people and sparking conversations. It might sound weird but believe me, everyone is in the same boat and you not drinking shouldn't be an issue at all. Good luck 😊
Lorenzo Paul will try this thank you 😊
Max and his family are GOLDEN
I still haven’t even finished my UCAS yet... why am I watching this?
Good luck but don't stress too much about it
It's October so you're still good for time; get it done soon and focus on exams. You've got this

Unis in 2020: no more freshers' flu, we have freshers' coronavirus instead

This video really helps capture what everyone feels as a fresher. When I started uni I didn't know it was so normal and totally fine to feel lonely & overwhelmed by the whole experience of living away from home and if I'd have seen this video I might have been more mentally ready.

Don't steal milk.. I start throwing away people cutlery when they do stuff like that. Nothing says passive aggressive flatmate like missing cutlery.

so weird that people start uni as teenagers. I think having a gap year is a good idea, it's common in many European countries and you can usually see who has started uni straight after finishing school (the ones who are clueless about how to do laundry etc) and who has learned some other skills by spending a year working and not constantly thinking about studying
just realised I should probably mention that this comment wasn't targeted at the people in the video or others who decided not to take a gap year, just a comparison between different countries (I've read that it's quite rare to have a gap year in the UK)
What are you doing in your gap year?
Denzel I was an au pair. Learned a lot about other cultures and now speak the local language fluently 😊
N00RA96 a lot of people in the UK take gap years . It is no where near rare . Trust me . I just started at my uni straight from school but I find plenty of people 19
I started straight away but 70% of the people on my course were 19 or 20 when I was 18. I'm taking this year out tho felt like I wanted a break.
I want to be friends with the maths guy 😭😂
I wanted to play DnD with him. And the love Simon poster, heck yeah
How have these 18 year olds never cooked meals for themselves before that they’re this clueless - I’m 16 and have been cooking all of my own meals (and often my family) for years
Thats exactly what I said!!!! Pampered by parents most likely, never had to set foot in the kitchen to cook food for themselves
good for you, but people have different circumstances
panini ception I don’t think it’s fair to say your parents don’t care about you if they don’t cook your meals - my parents simply knew I was able to cook for myself and so let me do so. And I’m not saying your parents shouldn’t be able to cook for you when you’re young, I just was surprised that they had never made a meal once in their life when their parents were away or even watched their parents cook enough to know how to put something in the oven.
Lori Hyslop Don’t be salty just cause your parents don’t love you lmao, some people parents understand that your education is the most important phase of your life because how well you do determines all the opportunities open to you for the rest of your life-so most parents will cook and do the housekeeping duties to allow their children to focus on studying and social development. They’re very blessed to have such caring parents, don’t try to take that away from them. It’s a different way of life, doesn’t make it inferior, that’s a very narrow minded way to view life.
Lori Hyslop Also, they did know how to put something in the oven. They all did cook successfully. Soooo...? What’s your problem??
Dillon's a buffting, Ellie's a babe and Max is such a cutie
This makes me so anxious
Wheres the stella, K, balloons and garage tunes
My fresher's in Cardiff
J Meaney 😂😂🙌🏽
Cant even open a bottle of wine, theyd be sticking crystals in their eyeballs if they went that far...
They should have included someone who doesn’t drink. How is it that the only way these kids can socialise is with alcohol
man, i live in the UK and I don't drink, and I never get invited anywhere. I don't really care cause it's not my scene so i'm not bothered about it, but I can imagine a lot of people (especially at uni) want to fit in, and feel like they HAVE to drink to be able to socialise, otherwise, they'll probably go nuts without having any friends.
Alcohol is cancer.
exploringwithomar I’m someone who’s applying to uni for next year, but also doesn’t like drinking. How do you feel not being invited to stuff? Does it not matter because you’ve found like-minded people who also don’t drink?
oh man, tbh, I'm very happy being in my own company. I can't stand being around drunk people so it was a bit of a relief. As soon as I went to Uni, I got a gym membership and spent my free time getting healthy. I also bought a camera and got into photography and met people who were photography enthusiasts who preferred spending their weekends taking photos around the city rather than drinking (that's also how I met my current girlfriend). The amount of money I saved is insane. Not to mention how active I was due to never being hungover.
@@itscharley430 For sure. Especially if you join a student association/club you will find a good group of people who won't care if you drink or not!

looooolll
Rah don’t take people’s shit without asking because if you ask most of the time they’ll offer it so DONT BE THAT PERSON
Relate to this so much! I'm a second year now, but my first year had all these emotions. Although my first year was an absolute mess, and I struggled with finding friends or people to relate too, all I can say to anyone in the first year, having doubts, Just keep pushing through! It's the beginning of year two for me now and I have some of the most supportive friends, it just took abit longer than anticipated.
As an Erasmus student who arrived in the UK in September, I experienced all of this too for the first time in my life haha, the freshers' fair especially was very unique. I've managed to make friends among the other Erasmus student, but I struggle to find 'my people' among the British, most of them already have their own group of friends. Good luck in your studies mate!
I'm in year 2 and I'm enjoying it a lot better than first year
This was more about the lgbt community than actual freshers
George Kelly don’t be so disrespectful

Some of the weirdest people on earth
Denzel lol they tried diversifying it
When you try to diversify and have no one normal
@@Unknown-si8yx yh the only diversity was 1 nerd and 1 transgender and the rest were basically the same, weird bunch. They could have at least shown people of different colour (Asian, black). It doesn't even need to be different races, they could have shown foreign students.
If their mission was to show how good uni is, then this failed miserably.
You're right we should all conform and be the same!
@SA ain't nobody trying to be racist here bro
I love Max he's so wholesome
Is it just me or I found the food they were eating disgusting.
I never understood how teens that are smart enough to attend university, but can’t even cook themselves an actual edible meal, it just baffles me, like have they never cooked a single meal at home ever before when they were back home?
Also all the young teen who are part of the LGBT community that wants to attend University solely because they think it will reinvent themselves or as a fresh start to their transition/lives has got it all wrong 😂 university is literally a giant headache and a way to pile on more stress and shit on top of your live. Regardless if you’re LGBT or not.
You don't need to be smart to attend university anymore. Not to mention that smartness has nothing to do with practicality.
Outsideness how so? You still need the grades to be able to attend university. I know it costs thousands to go now, but you still need the grades to get in.
But you definitely don’t need to be a genius to not burn yourself cooking chicken nuggets in a oven 😂
Regardless of whether being smart has any correlation to being practical, the fact that half these students couldn’t even cook themselves a proper meal, without burning themselves or the food is appalling 🤦🏻♂️ like have they never ever cooked at home before? When their parents were out/away? We could argue to disagree on this and that. But let’s definitely agree that half these students were too pampered/had it easy, the fact they couldn’t cook a simple meal. 👏
University is somewhat of a scam. Everyone has a degree which makes them almost worthless.
@@DrJams only the easy ones 😉
This video most definitely stopped me from defending British cuisine anymore, wtf was that microwaved tortilla man

I love max, he seems so sweet.
absolute units
Why is everyone 18 when they join university?
I will be 23 when I start university as a mature student.
Gentleman Gamer depends where you’re from. In england, you finish school at 18 and then university comes after if you want to go. But you can start at any age after so i don’t think it really matters.
Gentleman Gamer Because they join after A levels...at the standard time to do so??
Exactly what I thought! I’m going on September 2021, il be 20.
It's this weird thing we have here in the UK. You're rushed into uni straight away, it's seen as a ticket to freedom for most people and they end up doing useless degrees, later down the line finding they have no interest in them.
I started straight after my A Levels but there was a fresher I met, because we play on the same hockey team, and he's 23. There's also a lady in her 50s who was in my Intro to Politics and Law & Society module this year, she's doing the same course as me but the uni have helped her structure it so she's doing it part time to be able to work as well. You're not alone.
The maths guy seems so sweet I want to be his friend!
Removing the partying from freshers... it isn’t really as hyped up as everyone says... well its what you make of it i guess

Max is brilliant, such a good boi
I’m seeing a lot of comments on this video criticising the people here for being weird. My reaction to this is mixed; we already know by now that the BBC Three content creators are going to shoehorn in every minority under the sun to please their millennial audience. I suspect that a lot of the comments are also referring to the fact that most of these people aren’t stereotypically attractive/aren’t basing their entire uni experience on pills and alcohol consumption to which I say, tough shit. Some people aspire to do more than have sex, be a nuisance and get drunk at uni, and if that’s your plan, don’t bother going. 🤷🏻♀️
Aw I want to go to comic con with Max he seems so sweet
