Yes, especially since that was early days for night mode on phones, so the algorithms aren't as advanced. That said, the rear cameras held up very well to me as well.
Great job, Grant! Agree with your final assessment. However, being so close, I just bought an excellent condition V50 for $250 and the same condition iPhone 12Pro Max is $900. That made my decision, being that the V50 is also great for other aspects of daily use.

Thanks for this video. Just what I was looking for. My impression is under normal lighting the differences are subtle, not dramatic. The LG has slightly less dynamic range but not dramatically less. The LG's weakness is in the software. It tends to overexpose in high contrast lighting. It exposes for shadows which results in blown highlights. The iPhone does it more carefully by exposing for highlights and opening up shadows in processing. This results in smoother gradation but can look a little unnatural. In summary the iPhone is a little better camera with better software but not worth the many hundreds of dollars price difference given the LG's current prices.

Point and shoot yes it is somehow over exposed if the sun is bright. But you know that you can always use manual mode, I've tried it myself, lowering the Iso, and making the shutter speed slower makes the photo much more clearer and better, dynamic range is excellent. In my country we do have a korean version should i go for its refurbished phone only phone for around $300 android 10 would u recomemnd going for it i just want a decent battery life will i be able to get it
Only small differences in photography and video. LG has an audio dac, Jack 4.5 and the manual mode of the cameras, which very few know and use, and where it takes much better photos than the iPhone. And obviously the price difference is brutal, so LG is definitely better.
I think the iphone has more natural colours, deals with light better and is FAR better in night mode, and shoots more natural colours in video. Also the stabilization was better. But the LG was better in the close ups. But the LG is way cheaper and it comes with quad dac audio, so that's what I'm getting. If I want better photos, I'll pay for a separate pro quality stand alone camera.

I have had the LG V50 for a few months and it couldn't be better, I take photos and videos daily and with the artificial intelligence camera, I have taken the best night photos, the only thing that bothers me is that being the Korean version, I can't eliminate the double time that appears on the lock screen. I don't know if you could help me in that aspect
Lockscreen or time and date settings don't have an option to turn off the dual clock? My version doesn't have a dual clock.
I like comparison.
Thanks
iPhone is always the best in backlight conditions
LG v50 camera ultrawide degree?
Good job....👍
Thanks
The iPhone looked at much better in some photos not all but I didn't see where it was $500 more better or even $400 more better
Here in Phils. Iphone 12 pro max costs 70k however LG V50 u can only get it for 9k 🙈😁
Phils where is it worth to buy V50 or A52
And because of that pre, LgV50 pinili ko and never did I regret it.
@@alistairgongob1423 san ka bumili?
I think the iphone has more natural colours, deals with light better and is FAR better in night mode, and shoots more natural colours in video. Also the stabilization was better. But the LG was better in the close ups. But the LG is way cheaper and it comes with quad dac audio, so that's what I'm getting.
If I want better photos, I'll pay for a separate pro quality stand alone camera.
LG V50 ThinQ stock camera or Google camera ???
LG camera
Wow,, im on ios now and what I hate is the battery life .. its only good for social media
LG all the way. Btw what is the BGM in 1:03? Great content.
Can you switch between all 3 cameras in a video on the LG please ?
I am unable to do it on my V40 :'(
I think LG added that feature with the V50 and newer models😟
@@mike_t_007
Any hope to do it with the V40 ?
@@transporter06csfWhat version of Android are you running? If you have version 10, try it during a video. I don't think you can. I remember reading somewhere that this was a feature they added to the V50
@@mike_t_007
Android 9
I am usually afraid of updating & getting half baked software.
I was really hoping to get that feature somehow, it makes a huge difference.
@@transporter06csf Which version? I ask because I'm on a T-Mobile V40 with Android 10...Non Root and don't have the ability to change view points on the fly. Tried it earlier and was unable to. Check out Max Lee's channel. He did a ton of V40 videos showing off Pro Mode and some cinamatic videos as well. I believe he mentioned the V40s unable to change lenses mid recording in one of his videos. I think that's a newer (later than 2018) flagship feature for premium phones hence why iPhone 12 Pro Max could do it.
If LG was still making V series phones in 2021 I'm sure they'd have that feature perfected by now
The reason you go to iphone is u just want shot everything without editing
But LG take you to different level when you know how to use the phone properly
Ding ding ding... He missed a BIG opportunity to not even try the Pro mode on the V50(sigh)!
how about software updates or android updates should i worry about it? im planning to get it over the pocox3 pro and the redmi note 10 pro
I wouldnt. Lg just had a recent update. I have the v50. Just because they left the phone market doesnt mean you wont get updates.
@@SithRattus true... And i already got the korean variant. best bang for the buck in 2021
@@eeoui0334 how you liking it? Wish i could have gotten the Korean variant. Where did u get it? The v50 is already a monster. Id imagine how sick the dual screen is.
@@SithRattus its really gooddd this is my first flagship level phone. got it from a reseller in Shopee... yes also planning to rock the dual screen soon
V50 held his own fr
Yes it did
Damn I love my v50
audio sucks on iphone 12 pro max when video recording 😶 what happened there? that also happens to my iphone x.
Not sure it sucks, but it is what it is as they say.
LG V50 still a beast 😍😍😍
The deal breaker for me was the internal battery where LG used a permanent glue which will make replacements hard and dangerous for the unit
Lahat na yata high end phone naikot ko na pero bumabalik prin ako sa LG V50 haha
magkano presyohanan 2nd hand ng lg v50 sir?
12k up po
when I watch this video, then the video ends. my heart says why so fast
Guys. I'm planning to swap my legend v50 to an XR or 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max... what you guys think?
Only change if you want ios. I am changing back the other way as missing too many android features and camera’s are not as nice to use.
Which one has the better camera lg v50 or lg v50s?
Can't say, don't have the v50s, but going off the spec sheet the v50 should be better since it has a wider aperture and the v50s is missing a telephoto lens.
I suppose that you must tested LG phone with Gcam application, in this case LG V50 would win in night time photos
Here's the most important questions: Which phone wasn't made in a sweatshop in China where 18 people committed suicide from the assembly line? Which company doesn't owe nearly $17 Billion in unpaid taxes? Which company didn't default on a legal contract and use a loophole to get out of paying over $1 Billion in patent royalties for the use of digital camera technology, thus resulting in thousands of people losing their jobs and Kodak going bankrupt? Yeah... If you've ever given so much as a penny to Apple, you're supporting what is probably the worst company in modern day history!
Umm, if you believe Apple is the only manufacturer with their supply chain in China with shady business practices, then ok.
@@GrantLikesTech No, I don't. But I do know the facts about Apple, and I know not to give them business.
@@Pendragon501 awesome, stick it to the man
@@GrantLikesTech That sounds like some kind of hippie political thing. I'm merely just doing the right thing.
