Oh! Great, I have all the ingredients, I think... gonna' try them tomorrow! Thank you! 💕 And I love Mr. Rogers, too.
I made them today and YUM! I love them and so did my whole family! Super delicious!! Thank you for another amazing recipe, Jill!
Jill I have two suggestions. Wet the baking tray and the parchment will stick to it . Secondly, trying to grind the dates raw is difficult for the most powerful food processor or blender . I par boil my dates to make a smooth paste whenever I'm making my oat bars to avoid damaging my food processor or blender motor .The parboiling adds moisture to the final product so it holds together and doesn't crumble into a mess . Mr. Rogers would be honored he had such a positive influence on generations of people .
Great idea!
Can soak em in maple syrup. I like my cookies a bit sweeter than Jill does.
Fred Rogers was pure gold! He also has been an inspiration in my life. ❤️. Love your show Jill.
I wet and crumble the paper, it is even better, never need to put extra oil at the bottom
These are delish! No one would ever guess they are plant-based and GF. I followed the recipe as is and wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Jill!
Love your dedication. I loved Mister Rogers too. He was my adopted dad, because my real one was not a good person. Thank you for dedicating this show to him!
I’m in France and I love your channel because all recipes for vegan cakes and deserts have usually oil or sugar
I’ve already tried many of yours and I ll this one Thanks Jill
FANTASTIC!!! yum
The day called for a healthy dessert and I found these magic cookie bars!!! So simple to make - I used the pecans, shredded vegan chocolate chips and coconut flakes!! They were soooo good! Reminded me of a chocolate custard-like flavor!!!! Thank you, Jill!!! ❤
50 going to be 51 next month. I grew up with Mr. Rodger. As an introvert. I enjoyed the slow and intentional moments. Where I could really remain calm to absorb all of his messages of the day! Too much crazy shows now. Everything gotta be fast with drama. Thank you and Mr. Rodger for letting us get back to serenity and reflection.
I agree. Mr. Rogers was a gem,
I love this recipe. I have made it 3 times already! I found Hu chocolate chips only sweetened with dates and use these in the recipe. So good!! Thank you so much for another great recipe.
My favorite! I have made a version of these too and discovered that a dash of cinnamon for the crust make it take very gramcrackery.
I just made it! Delicious! I added half a baby carrot for the vitamin A, a B12 tablet (because it’s a great way for vegans to take their B12), and orange zest for the flavor and aroma! Also, about a tablespoon of ground flaxseeds for the lignans and omega-3s. You guys - it’s so good! You’ll love it!
Interesting variations!
Great idea. Wish I'd read your comments before making it. LOL
You put a B12 tablet in it? Did you crush it up and add it to the crust?
That sounds really good but to what did you add them? The filling? The crust?
@@oqeox I threw the B12, orange zest, and ground flaxseeds it in the Vitamix when I was was preparing the crust. I added the baby carrot to the wet topping.
I am so making these tomorrow!
You’re personality reminds me so much of Mr. Rogers. You’re doing so much good for so many people. Truly appreciated ❤
Fred Rogers is a big inspiration for us, thank you! 😃
This is the simplest vegan dessert I've ever come across. I have all the ingredients and I think I'm going to make it with no cleanup. Awesome
My wife made these today…they’re fantastic! Thank you 🙏🏼
The world stops when Jill Dalton has a new video up! Love you lady 💗💗
Awww 😊 Thank you
Making this today!
Fred Rogers is a hero of mind, too. Love your channel. Thanks for all you share!
Excellent recipe! I still say you deserve a spot on PBS.
OMGosh!!! I used to love magic bars. I'm trying these today, but I'll have to use the chocolate chips that I have already. I can't wait. I loved Mr. Rogers too. Such a kind hearted person. Thank you for sharing.😋😋💚💚🥥
Smart idea with parchment paper!
These are delicious! I made them in a 9 x 13 pan bc I prefer a much thinner cookie. I did not adjust the ingredients and it worked perfectly. They also freeze great. Thank you!
Just made them. Do not know how the original cookies taste. Never had them But these are FABULOUS. Perfect in every way. This recipe is a keeper. Thank you Jill!! You are changing lives for the better more than you would ever know..
I'm jealous. I also live in NC, about two hours from you, and we don't have a Whole Foods in our area. We have Sprouts. I guess they are about the same. BTW, I just pre-ordered your 2nd c/b and can't wait to receive it. thank you
I'm not so called plant based and I'm excited to try this recipe. I want to bring them to family gatherings at family members houses whom are plant based. I also want them for myself to be more healthy and to share with someone I know challenged with managing eating habits who also has PCOS.
"So called " really ......
I tried making these and feel they need more moisture in bottom "crust". They are falling apart. I think this could be achieved by either soaking the dates, using majool dates or adding a bit of coconut oil to the crust. I'm not sure I can fix the batch I made and don't think anyone else will eat them. I used Lilly's chocolate chips just because I didn't want to wait to make them. Its possible I was heavy handed with the oatmeal but I don't really think I was.
@@jenniferwinsor7740 what does it taste like??? Does it taste good??
@@scienceislove2014 yes it tastes good. I also didn't have Bragg's aminos and used salt. Just is dry and the dates didn't incorporate well enough. I only ate one so far.
I am in love. This is sooooo calming, like her voice is so soothing. Also I’m wfpb so I like seeing all the cool recipes. I’m starting to allow myself eating blended things again so I can make some one day!!
Yay ! I’m so glad that we all agreed on this recipe !! Yum !! 😋
So cute to see the happy dance
Cookie bar by any name makes my heart sing : )
Nice parchment 📜 paper hack!!
You are very naughty posting this recipe Jill, these look amazing Jill 😍
This c00kie will be making these tomorrow 😎
Can’t to try these! My mom used to make this dessert all the time. I’m happy you made a healthy version!! 👏🏼
Another Fred Rogers fan....awesome!
Made these this week! I subbed some raisins because I didn't have enough dates but it still turned out. It was really good, the whole family enjoyed it. I will definitely make it again and am planning on using the gooey layer in other old recipes I would like to make WFPB. Thank you so much!
Fantastic 👍
Will try. First time.
We don't have Magic Cookies in Australia, and it's hard to get pecans, so I played around with the recipe. I subbed half the water for frozen raspberries, and topped with walnuts and flaked almonds. Absolutely delicious. I never used to eat sweet foods, but Jill's wonderful recipes have converted me.
That sounds delicious 👍❤️
I would sprinkle with a bit of sesame seeds too before baking. Can’t wait to make these!
Very cool, I have a lot of nice memories attached to this style of cookie. Nice to have a healthier vegan version to try out, thank you for sharing
Yummmm! I'm not even vegan but I love your recipes!! You're well worth subscribing! and so kind of you remembering Mr. Rogers!!
Thank you so much 😊
I just made these so good thank you Jill !!!!!!
Yummy recipe. Thanks
Yummy 🤤
WFPB Jill does it again,
Amazing Magic Cookie Bars for the win!!! 🥰
def gonna try this one!
I wonder if I could use maple syrup, I have some on hand, instead of the dates? Thanks so much for your wonderful videos! I love plantbased deserts even more now!
I love magic cookie bars! I tried with plant based condensed milk, way to sweet, thanks for this version
You know I’m making this tonight! Thanks!
Parchment paper used to make trouble until I tried to rinse it under running water & then crumble it (thankyou Jamie Oliver)
No problems now!😊
Great video!! Thank for sharing
I am so excited for this recipe as this has been a favorite cookie of mine for years. Can’t wait to try it. Just need to get some pecans. 🙂
I can't wait to make these. My kids are going to love them. Thanks for another great recipe! FYI, if anyone dislikes plain cacao chips, Hu Kitchen makes date-sweetened, oil-free chocolate chips. They're pricy but really good.
What is HU?
My kids (& my husband and I) loved them today!!
@@jessicaveganjessica2208 can you tell me what HU stands for?
HU is the brand name. They also make oil free crackers that are good 😋
@@cc-carol5951 I'm not sure but it's a brand name of chocolate products.
It's look so delicious and healthy as all your recipes I'm so happy to watch your videos i can't wait to see the the next .you are amazing. Thankyou..
I want to make them tonight I have everything yay!!
I am doing a long-term undercover study and to date, the evidence shows that only true foodies dance after taking a bite of yummy food. I will have to try this one. Thank you for the video, and the dance.
👍😂😂😂
Hu makes a chocolate chip that is sweetened with dates.
If your not allergic to beans or sensitive to them. No matter the diet. They should be a part of your diet. I Love beans. I have a sister who is allergic to them though. Those bars look really good. 🙂 I do that with my parchment paper too. It does help.
I am laid up from bunion surgery but I just might beable to make these. They look yummy.
oh gosh, I have try this - thank you
You could just fold the paper down over to get those edges nice and even! The bars look yummy!!
Looks delish. Easy prep. Ideal recipe.
I'm jealous. I also live in NC, about two hours from you, and we don't have a Whole Foods in our area. We have Sprouts. I guess they are about the same. BTW, I just pre-ordered your 2nd c/b and can't wait to receive it. thank you
This Looks wonderful! I think I'm going to try this, except I'll be using the Lily's Chocolate Chips that are sweetened with Stevia. Thank you very much for this recipe!
I always love your excitement at the end when you taste your recipe. My goal is to build my pantry to eat plant based. Seems overwhelming.
These are amazing! I made them last week. I loved how easy they were to make. Delicious! Thank you!
Delicious looking recipe
Thanks for responding about alternatives to mushrooms in prior video. What about alternative to dates in vegan baking? (not a fan of them or dried fruit in general) Just add more almond?
Thankyou Jill great recipes much love Kris
Thank you for what you do. You've inspired me.
Thank you 😊 I’m so glad
👍♥️♥️♥️Thank you. From. Canada. P.Q
Was dubious, made them, annoyed that I wasted time thinking about it instead of just making it. Freakin delish!
WOW SOOOOO GOOOD INSANE 🤩
looks so good, even as a fruitarian I would have this! :)
My mom used to be known fir her bars. But she called them Hello Dollys. Yup. So funny. Of course had con densed milk etc. ..
Looks yummy.
Who isn't looking for good in the world 🌎 today????? So much unbalanced and distorted weird ideas are being pushed into our minds!!!!😢😢😢😢😮😮😮
You are so delightful, a nature beautiful glow and your voice friendly and inviting, then top this with such delicious food. I'm going to the kitchen 7make this recipe and the lemon bars for a dear friends birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉today, she's gonna love these.
You are the good that I enjoy!
Would like to see more meals rather than desserts
OH YEAHHHH!!
I will try these!
Very nice indeed!!!✝️❤️❤️
So so good. Beyond good. Tried to hide them from my husband but he found them!! 😂
You can use your canister to press the crust down
Yes
Yum can you do it with out coconut
Hello I was just wondering if you soak the dates before using them in your recipes? I know that they can be a bit hard some times. Thanks love the recipes.
You can soak them to make them softer but we rarely do because the blender does a good job of blending them up.
I crunched the numbers and Bake Believe Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips ( plant based sweetened ) is cheaper than the Santa Barbra brand.
More cake and cakey dessert recipes please..
Absolutely love your recipes! I want to make this recipe and your Starbucks Lemon loaf but husband is allergic to almonds. What would you recommend instead?? Thanks! Awaiting your reply 😊
Thank you Teri =) You can replace the almond flour with cashew flour. I haven't really tried any other replacements.
Thank you for the video! What kind of NutriBullet do you use?
Best wishes 🤗
I have a Nutribullet Pro
Love it 👍
Any thoughts on a substitute for the coconut? We really enjoy your show, and have used so many of your recipes!
You can just leave it out
In case you want to leave it out because someone doesn't like the texture...I'll say that my husband seriously dislikes coconut texture and avoids coconut foods because of it, but I made these bars today and he loved them and said that they were so good that the coconut texture didn't even bother him. :)
Hi, thanks for sharing with us, can you please tell me what is your blender ? Which model of nutribullet? Thanks so much
For the last step, could I pour the milk gently over the top? Do you think that would hold everything together or no? Seems like that’s how I used to do bars back when I used condensed milk. I can’t wait to make these!!
I think it would still work
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow I made these and they're good but I did not care for my idea of pouring the "milk" over the top. Because it was so thick, it did not seep through. It baked into a cake-like topping and didn't look pretty like yours did lol It's still yummy though. I also drizzled peanut butter over the chocolate chips too.
You're making my mouth watering 😋 that looks delicious it will be the next on my list for sure I just baked the chocolate cake the one from your recipes actually the Valentine one it is sooo moist and delicious I,'m sure this is as good 👍. Can 't wait for next week 's recipe.
Thanks Lina 😊
just subscribed. Omg, I’m so so so happy I stumbled across your channel!! will definitely make a ton of your recipes for my family since they complain that my vegan baking tastes too healthy (not sweet enough) and my goal is to have them enjoy vegan food as well. can’t wait :)
Is it possible to make a ‘future-video-wish’? if so, I’d live to see some high protein baked goods - that would be crazy to see🤩
They are in the oven right now.
Have you ever made energy bars
Still here. You look great with or without makeup, BTW.
Can you use ground almonds in place of the almond meal/flour?
Yes
SPATULA!! yea ha! 👍👍👍
Jill, since I have a big bag of oat flour that I need to find a use for, what would be the measurement of just using straight oat flour, in lieu of grinding my own from rolled oats? I'm going to try baking these in my solar oven. Thank you!
It makes just a touch less than a cup
What could be used in place of the coconut?
Option for using almond meal? Garbanzo? Rice flour? Buckwheat?
Sorry, I haven’t tried any substitutes
