    Well done, love your videos. The 172 mph swing was a 24:8 tempo from my estimation of frame counts. Of the 24 frames of the backswing, it's fascinating to see how far you travel in each 8 frame section. First 8 frames moves the clubhead about 2 foot only... the next 8 frame segment takes you to about left arm parallel...and the final 8 frames takes you to the top. The lack of clubhead movement in the first 8 frames does support the low and slow feel of the takeaway... You have an interesting trigger movemet of flexing both knees too.

    Glad to see your clubhead speed is getting higher after the training. Put your ego in check, take driver out of your bag and score lower. It costs you 2 - 4 strokes every round I've seen on video.

    Can I ask a simple question, why hover the club when doing a drill yet set the club behind the ball went playing a stroke. It's a simple question yet rather complex.

    Does the wider stance make the hip clearing more difficult? I feel like the bottom half of your body doesn't quite fully rotate compared to big hitting pros. Maybe I'm off here, though.

  • @billygraham5589

    Are these like long drive contest type swings? And will that translate to a higher clubhead speed when you swing “normally?” (That is, you establish a new standard for your swing speed?) And the big question is this a muscle thing or a technique thing or both?

      Dennit Racing
      I can’t help but wonder if the power he is building toward is coming at a sacrifice of straightness and consistency. Wish he would report on his golf course performance - fairways and greens in regulation.
      I took up golf at the age of 22. In 4 months I shot an 84 at Santa Anita in L.A. county (in case you don’t know where that’s at), and shot a 71 at Montebello GC about 3 months later. Once I got a consistent swing technique that is what led to better scores. I did not hit long balls - I’m not big. I used top flight golf balls up until 10 years ago. I could drive like 250, that’s about it. But the thing that led to low scores was focusing on hitting accurately to a target. BUT I must say, to play “competitive” golf many now are turning to power as the solution. I don’t see that this is a good way to go. I don’t know that Brandon has gotten down to scratch level golf yet , but regardless he’s now looking to bomb the ball. How many of those long drives are gonna end up behind a tree? And how many greens in regulation will he hit? Surely power is good BUT you will get power enough if you just have good technique. My assessment (that proved true for me) was that I should always swing moderately. My bad shots always came when I would try to do something special - hit the ball further. My technique up until about 3 years ago was FLAWED. But, that said I could “think” my way to good scores around the scratch level of play. (A lot of guys would shake their heads in amazement to see an ugly swing like mine shoot good scores.) But the “secret” was swinging moderately and to a reasonable target. But now I’ve improved my technique and gained 20 yards per club and I’m still swinging moderately. I am messing with putting more power into my stroke, but that’s not helping the scores I don’t think. I will mess up shots because things get out of sequence and the muscles tighten improperly when I try to bomb it - balls end up in the trees. And I just don’t gain much even when I’m successful swinging harder. I’m pretty happy to hit 270+ drives. I don’t think my body likes when I try to hit 290+ drives.

      I wonder with all the swing coaches he’s interviewed, techniques, swing aids and the clinics he taken part in, if he’s really improved. That would fry my brain, Kudos to Brendon for putting himself out I guess.

    • @wx811
      @wx811 5 лет назад

      @@igrand6473 You have to remember the goal of the channel is for the better player who has plateaued. These things aren't necessarily for his improvement, but to help out everyone 12 handicap and below. It's advertising to some degree, as the teachers and people interviewed sell something, and Brendon is mostly being an example of why it may help someone improve their game. Either way, it's admirable the fact that he travels all over the place, visiting teachers, coaches, pros, just to help better players improve. It's something I feel he's dedicated to, and it's an admirable goal.

    Not sure what is actually being measured there but that last swing was no way 118mph. Go to a golf shop, not selling those products, and use their launch monitor, record it and post it.

    • @Somefatdude
      @Somefatdude 5 лет назад

      Jaime Mantel they used flightscope and that’s a good monitor. Probably number 3 in the launch monitor race. Questioning whether he got those numbers is not even the more interesting thing to me. To me, the question is whether he can continue to put up big numbers and truly create a “new normal.” He’s nice and warm doing this. It’ll be good to see whether he can continue to train and keep and improve his speed over time like with a workout routine.

    • @arjanpetersen
      @arjanpetersen 5 лет назад

    Haha.. these tools are RIDICULOUS! What is the saying... a fool and his money are soon parted?
    You finally, after numerous attempts, got lucky and was right on with your path, etc., which allowed you to eclipse the 170 ball speed.
    You could actually do damage to your body trying to gain, what.. an extra 15 yards??
    Look at some of these things.. the lagwoosher?? Haha... lag is so pointless. Ugh.. whatever.. take money from fools.. I can't blame you there

    • @arjanpetersen
      @arjanpetersen 5 лет назад

      I’m sorry you are way off with your comments. Brendon is training quite a lot. So body wise it is fine. Also there is no need to ridicule the tools and his attempt.

    • @killmoreturtles
      @killmoreturtles 5 лет назад

      @@arjanpetersen In any case, I find these tools to be mostly a bunch of BS. If you want to get good, go hit balls every day. You should also get a lesson if you start struggling with things or forming really bad habits. But- also be aware that your body may not be the same as your coach, and therefore your feel is going to be different. The great thing about a coach is that he can give you great feedback on what you are doing wrong.. but that does not really mean you should always listen to what he/she thinks is right.
      I've seen some of his videos, including the one with MIke Malaska. Even though I think Malaska is a very good teacher and good at explaining things, he is still explaining things from how HE feels what the club is doing. . So, for example, , If you ask him he may say the swing feels like he is ' unfolding his arms' ( for example), but to me.. I may get the same exact swing that he is talking about, but my personal feel may be that I'm 'dropping the club'. If I were to think of unfolding my arms, that may actually totally screw me up. I may have been doing the exact swing he is talking about, but thinking and feeling about it completely different. Ask a pro what he feels he is doing and it may be very different from what he is actually doing
      I realize I'm going off on a tangent and what I just said has nothing to do with what this was about, but I just felt like saying it.
      If you listened to most " coaches" over the past decade or so, you would be pretty screwed up with your swing, because there has been so much garbage information.
      These tools are along the same line.. that is definitely my opinion. BUT... there is truth to it. Look at some of the tools, ( ie,, lag thingy).. we all know , especially now, that you do not have to produce lag from the top of the swing. Also.. hitting a bag is only good for hitting a bag... as soon as you step in front of the ball your mind is going to tell you that you're no longer hitting a bag and your body will need to absorb the swing.
      THet tools are garbage,, and I'm sticking by my opinion of that . I had to laugh at the end when the guy tried to take credit for his swing speed, as if his tools were what got him there. No.. he just finally got everything right. ( and that is not a criticism of him at all)
      But, I guess if you think the tools help you.. then what can I say? Placebo effect is real

    • @wx811
      @wx811 5 лет назад

      Strong hands are important to be able to create power, as the hands are what allow the club to release, which creates the majority of the speed. Stronger hands and forearms are what generate speed, not body turn and pivot, though they do play a part.
