Brendan you are like a mad professor, love the references to half life memory , I've never heard that before but in my head it was like a huge lightbulb moment, not only for my feels when i learn something that works in my golf swing but also in my understanding of teaching technique to Chiropractic students.
Man this is inspiring. I’m starting out w about same starting numbers. Going on a speed training journey next 3-6 months. Hoping to get to 110-112 mph clubhead speed. 🙏🙏. Thanks for showing us the way.
One of your best productions. Really love this. I'll echo other statements that John's enthusiasm is contagious...really seems to bring out the best in you.
Wow. Can’t wait for next videos. But the most interesting will be the one month after recap: Did the speed stay and what you did to make it stay? Did your accuracy on the course change and how? That will come out about June 10th, right? :-)
Their are guys off scratch who have less ball speed than you. If you improve your short game you’d save shots. Here’s a tip a pro told me . Next round count all your shots from 100 yards and less. You should aim for 36. I have occasionally scored 36. Whenever I shoot 36 I always break par. I bet you can’t break 40. So work on your short game. When you average 36 by all means then work on your long game
Also what ppl don’t see that is important is that I exercised for 2 weeks just to build up my resilience for this trip so I wouldn’t injure myself because I knew it was going to be a lot of swings!
Great video. I’m a 10 but my son is a natural talent. He’s just turned 16 and is 5’11 180lbs does surfing and kickboxing but isn’t huge or super athletic. His club head speed with driver is 110-112 yet he carries it so far- 280-290 with 160-162 ball speed and 1900 spin. He just has a knack for creating perfect impact and a really straight balm that falls one way or the other. He hits up on it way more than pros 3-5 AOA which must help with spin loft. But with 110 speed he’s hitting 300 yards plus. Can only imagine if he gets to 115 in a year or two. With all that speed you have I’m sure you can get more distance just from messing with spin loft and hitting up on it. 120 speed is ridiculous.
I've had some trouble finding the Tsunami bars for golf, and I have seen non that are of any discount? Can you help? Also yall speak of 2 different flexes but I only see a 47 and 57 inch different in length? I assume it's called the Balance stick? Did you ever have a follow up video tho this one? thanks dave

Just starred this as ive got a heavy duty band in the garage which ive never used apart from swinging with it round my elbows! But at 250lbs and 9 months of covid jogging/squatting etc I think ive got powerful glutes! we shall see
Great video Brandon. What is John's advice on the frequency of this type of training to incorporate the increases into your actual game? Did he share a program with exercises, reps, set, etc? thanks.
One of the best videos I've seen in a while. Love the instructor, lots of positive vibes. Just curious if your age. I'm 46 and thought that it's downhill from here. Keep up the fun videos!
Yet another great video to listen to and to watch. Thanks! At the start of the video John is holding a training aid. It looks like a swing shaft with a foam sleeve at the bottom. Can you provide some information on what it is and how to use it?
It is the “lag popper” it’s great. About to be released. You pop the slider on the way back (zippy backswing) then you let it reset at the top then pop it out at inpact
What a crock! Check out Moe Norman at 72 years old smashing 3 woods and drives 270 to well over 300 yds. Drive through the ball at a target hit it a mile with very little effort. It works. And you won’t need a rubber band around you knees.
Brendon - Thanks for posting this video. Excellent content. Where do you think you made your biggest gain? Was your core more engaged? More ground pressure? Loading more on the back swing?Just curious. Thanks.
Hard to say but my backswing was noticeably faster. I felt like I was moving my body a lot more in the backswing and more load into my right hip. Another thing is the first part of the backswing was faster but the translation felt slower. Like the fast backswing gave me more time to have a patient transition . Then arms, shear force in left leg and murder it with right arm
@@BEBETTERGOLFYour comment about slower transition makes sense. The faster the backswing the more the body has to engage to change direction. Since the muscles are working faster the more potential for speed. Sasho Mackenzie has talked about this. Which is why the lag popper is a good tool for this.
Great work. Once you see your ball speed increasing how often does one have to do this routine to try and keep the gains and eventually take this to the course? It is my understanding that ball speed will increase as one it’s their shod closer to the sweet spot. Is there any trick or plan to help one have more center strikes.
Making notes here: 105.7 mph clubhead speed = 160 mph ball speed. (Where's the 110+ clubhead speed I've seen in other videos? ...not that 105.7 is bad, that's a 290 drive with the roll.) See vid at 5:03 Then comes the workout -- but that couldn't possibly have improved clubhead speed... Then 111 mph clubhead speed and 166 mph ball speed. See vid at 24:20. Okay, so muscles warmed-up better and more power. I have seen stuff on sports suggesting that warming up muscles doesn't make them work better or anything, and might slow down the muscles, but I have to disagree. I definitely want to work out for golf. But with this caveat: If the swing mechanics are bad, working out will only make the bad swing more powerful. Probably best to focus on getting the swing mechanics down pat and THEN going for the work out to develop high clubhead speed. One question if anyone reading this knows: Is there anyone on tour that doesn't work out and has like 115 to 120 mph clubhead speed?
so, after doing this, you gained a tremendous amount of speed. My question is, his this just used as a warmup, or can the improvements achieved from this be sustainable without having to do it before every time you play?
Based on watching this my thoughts are: 1. You will gain improvement just on connecting that core strength and movement to your golf swing and technique. 2. You will not gain this much each time without that warm-up. Activating those muscles will play a large part. It's just like any other sport/workout, etc. A good warm-up will lead to stronger results.
You have badly misunderstod the whole video, Brendan was swinging flat out at the beginning, the training allowed him to use his muscles and nervous system to co-ordinate more speed and balance which translated into a new, faster "flat out" swing speed.
Ange Gooner and next week he will be visiting some pro somewhere who tells him to put a banana peel in his left pocket to improve hip turn. This dude does all this shit. And his wing will look the exact same next week
BE BETTER GOLF I think logically it has to improve your technique. You have to be ‘on plane’ and you have to be efficient to swing it with speed. You’ll get a shorter radius (aka ‘lag’ or what people call ‘holding the angle’) the faster you swing it, because the brain has to shorten the club and left arm in order to swing it faster. Your brain won’t accept a mis-hit either, so if you maintain speed whilst within the framework of technique and efficient movement, you’ll eventually tune in and find the centre of the club. In my opinion...
All these pros with different launch, spin, planes, grips etc etc all growing up swinging it differently but ‘finding’ how to do it, and the one common denominator is high clubhead speed and as John says here, applied clibhead speed.
not to rain on your parade but did this make you score any better? short game will always rank higher than swing speed for the vast majority of players. theres guys on tour who have 160 ball speed and have won majors.
tmajik86 maybe in the past, but ball speeds have gone up as technology improves. Not too many guys, if any, winning much on tour at a MAX of 160 mph ball speed
@@golfer977 with that logic all the guys in the 180 ball speed should be winning every week right? theyre not. speed definitely helps but there's more to the game unless you're going for long drive. look at luke donald, padraig harrington....both guys chased more distance and fell off the face of the golfing world when both were previously very accurate and had control over their golf ball.
tmajik86 how in the world do you jump to that conclusion? I said it’s very hard for a guy to win on tour with ball speed in the 150s, max of 160. In the last five years or so speed and distance has become more important than ever. It’s not a requirement to hit it super far like the 180 you suggest, but it’s becoming a requirement to hit it far enough, and 150s ball speed is oftentimes not far enough.
@@golfer977 the pga tour average for ball speed is still in the mid 160's unless thats changed overnight. theres very few if any guys in the 150s...better players almost always have enough speed but lack the control of the curve or start line to play to their best golf. speed is a necesity for playing at the highest level but if you cant control it, kinda defeats the purpose.
tmajik86 when you said 160 in your original post, I interpret that as 158-162 or so - so yes sometimes 150s, and sorry but to be an elite player that’s probably not good enough anymore. 165 may be the average, but look at the top 25, or average of every winner on tour the last 2 years, the average is higher than the tour average.
