But sometimes I get stuck trying to get an aesthetically pleasing look, but then the ball dynamics go to crap. There's a balance point somewhere, and I'm in a constant quest to find it! ***btw B, you asked great questions trying to gain insight into his swing
This was awesome. The explanation of that takeaway move is the best I've heard. Funny, I've seen guys do that on the course, but never understood why. Thanks for the video!
would love to see some more super slow motion analysis, what a great swing. I've been straightening my rear leg like he does lately, and feel the turn of my chest, sort of like my tennis serve. I'm hitting an easy 300 plus now, with a few in the 330 range. Trouble is as my swing has gotten faster, I think I sprained my thumb, :(
Can’t wait to see you guys with Milo! I just had a lesson with him (because of your channel by the way) and Josh’s release ( letting it out early and turning hard on it ) is basically what we worked on. Never felt effortless power like that before. I was getting 108 club speed with what felt like a 3 quarter swing and I can’t wait to gas it up when I get back to California.
3:18 his club is toe up at waist high in the follow through, it seems alot of big hitters do this but not alot of discussion about it. Brandon theres gotta be more talk about this! and again at 4:28
Drew's swing is completely smooth around the circle --his body does not "pop" up toward the sky on impact like most hard hitters. this has to mean he is releasing his lag slightly later in the arc so that he "pop" is more forward toward the horizon rather than downward toward the ball. if lag is released early, it will be directed to the ground and the reaction from the ground (Newton 3rd) will be directed up into the body causing it to jump up. for Drew, instead of his whole body popping up, his left foot just pivots around the heel toward the target to release that small amount of knee stress--and it's not a lot of movement too--probably because most of the energy has already been transferred to the ball instead of directed into the ground and reflected back up 20:27 vs 21:44 additionally we should be focusing more on smash factor instead of club/ball speed to really see compare the effect of an efficient vs inefficient swinger. if you are shorter than Drew but somehow are able to hit 1.50 like he is, you are probably not going to be hitting it as far, but i'd say you have reached approximately the same level already.
What I notice is that he returns the handle exactly where he took it from and maintaining the angle. I am thinking it’s a perfect fulcrum and he releases it perfectly and that club head has so much energy it passes the hands perfectly at strike
What sort of net and mat are they? And by the way you would do well to adopt these "big picture" ideas into your 100 day crush. And aren't the smooth mechanics a contrast to the pro-long driver guys?
He starts the transition when the driver gets about knee high on the backswing. He starts falling left. He doesn’t really go backswing then downswing the way it looks. He creates a big force in a direction then reacts to that force. We are meeting up in 2 days with Milo Lines. I’ll ask him.
@@BEBETTERGOLF I had my best driving day ever in my last outing of the fall using this exact same feel. Transitioning onto the left side starting at P3. Terry Hashimoto of Boditrak talks about this a lot. Check out the V1 golf youtube videos with him. He says every tour pro he's measured does this. It was just crazy how well my swing flowed concentrating on that and having soft hands, and how long and straight I was hitting it, with low perceived effort. Wish I could bottle it! Drew is such a good dude for inviting you to his home and sharing so much of his knowledge.
Ok, his sequence, timing, etc...are perfect, is tall, he works out a lot but this guy is sure built different. Not your average man (muscular density, tendons elasticity, flexibility,...) Anyway, it is still amazing to witness. Bravo
This is cool. My question is how would Drew fare against the professional long drive guys? I know he would hit it straighter! Also Drew have you ever missed the net and sent one to your neighbors yard? I know I would!
Never missed the yard yet. Drew would be about 5 mph short ball speed of really competing with long drive guys. If he gets to his goal of 225 he would be up there with the best. No LD goals tho, it’s all to be a better golfer
The most useful things coaches can say, "it feels like........" All golfers need feelings, because the swing is so fast technical positions are hard to achieve.
I kind of disagree here. The problem with feels is that it may "feel" something to the coach, but if I don't have the same "feeling" then it won't work for me. If you ask a pro golfer what's your "secret" and he says its a feel (which it might be) and then ask another pro golfer about that "feel" he may likely say that he's never "felt" that in his life. I do agree that feels is better than positions, but every golfer has to find his own feels .
@@djp3525 I coached, not golf, but gymnastics, which is incredibly technical, but each gymnast responded to different instruction differently. I completely agree that 1 feeling is not "the trick" or "secret" it's giving a golfers multiple swing feels and seeing how they react. I think in golf it would be hard to dial in 150 degree right elbow bend in transition, you know? Also agree that some good golfers cannot communicate what they feel effectively for others to replicate.
You state that the BACK:FORWARD force is 1:2 for pros, and 1:8 for amateurs. Is this because amateurs are using 1/4 the force of pros in their backswings?
But Bryson is getting those speeds with virtually no wrist hinge because of how he grips the club in his palm, which is even more insane that he can generate that much speed that way and with those massive jumbo max grips.
@@kourt2469 His wrist hinge comes late in his backswing and really hilts full hinge when he drops the club into the downswing. It's actually been proven that you can generate more clubhead speed with the larger grips because your hands are more relaxed as you don't have to grip the club as hard. Any power movement though (swinging a bat, tennis racquet, holding a hammer, using an axe) are all held in your palm) that's the strongest part of your hand so why anyone would use their fingers is crazy.
@@natgolfpro1 not true it hasn't been proven universally. I do fittings for a living and yes there are a few golfers who have a minor increase in their speed when we try larger grips but almost everyone I've had try bigger grips loses clubhead speed. I'm sure the added weight most jumbo grips add causes an effect as well. But most people have a hard time releasing the club with a massive grip. I'm one of the few that plays jumbo grips and like them but even I dont use them on my driver and fairway woods because I lose so much speed.
@@natgolfpro1 no it has nothing to do with the fact that the grips are larger. It has to do with the fact the grips properly fit the golfer. Large grips have been around for a very long time and not many people use them because they don't fit most people. For the few people they do fit they are a great option. If larger grips magically made you swing faster then every player on the long drive circuit would use them but most of them aren't using them. Same reasoning can be used for undersized grips. If that made you swing it faster everyone would be using undersized, but they don't. They use the grip that best fits them.
Ok, so can hit 200mph ballspeed and not hop around like an agitated „Bryzilla“ on steroids to get „pumped“ before hitting the shot.
