    Distance makes the game easier and almost always results in lower scores, and the data is there to prove this!
    Ive always been able to generate high club and ball speeds with the driver, but I wanted to see just how far i could push this and challenge myself to break the elusive 200mph barrier.
    In this lesson i'm chasing 200mph ball speed and you will see how I added serious speed to my swing thanks to the help of Steve Furlonger

    I've been waiting for this Chris! I already knew you had speed, but I've always wanted to see you just unload some monster drives because I always knew you have massive potential. Keep it up, and keep us posted. Then show off your hard work to us. Show us some monster drives. My philosophy has always been to push for more. I always say to my friends when I train for speed; " Raise your ceiling, you raise your floor ".

    Chris I think a light bulb went off for me thanks to this video to ensure my center of mass stays behind the ball at impact instead of trying to force my body to stay back. Solution:push lead foot to make the lead hip go up and back. I have not tried this on the range yet however would like to know if should do this with my irons and fairway woods or would it cause me to thin my shots by hitting up on it? Or not because I dont tilt my trail shoulder with irons like the driver?

    Interesting that your instinctively your left heel replants closer to the target than your left toes, which allows you to clear your left hip faster as the foot “spins” back and out. Kelvin Miyahira stuff.

    Love it!! 200mph is well within your grasp Chris, will you be doing vids on how you convert the added club speed into ball speed?
    To anyone commenting about injuries this is only relevant if you suffer from pre-existing injuries or mobility issues, which I'm sure if Chris had he wouldn't be pursuing this goal.
    If you're someone who plays occasionally and hasn't lifted anything heavier than a golf bag for a few years its probably not the best idea to jump straight into overspeed training. Get some strength & conditioning before attempting overspeed training, I would recommend Fit For Golf.

    Interesting concept! In watching the "long driving" contestants, very few are hitting the targeted areas. I think most of the successful PGA players are control players. The woods are full of long hitters. As another viewer warned you, be careful!!! These moves may not be too good for your longevity as a golfer. Your swing speed of around 130 mph is good enough to generate 300+ yard drives.

      Hi John. Competitive long drivers have to hit a 50 yard grid in 6 shots, within a in 2.5 minutes. Considering their speed which most are over 130, they are very accurate usually hitting it dead straight without curve. Bryson has moved the needles on the PGA tour regarding club speeds by training specialist movements using a force measuring system like mine. The vast majority of tour players could increase their speed also if they trained with the correct coach. The modern strokes gained statistic created by Mark Broadie has proven that more distance results in low scores in tour players hence why Bryson took that approach at the end of the 2019 season. Interestingly If we take the careers of the majority of long drivers they don’t have any more injuries than a tour player, some have even less that tour. What I will say is that Chris is having great fun pursuing a little hobby of his and is training speed responsibly using drills that work. All my players love the speed journey and love either out hitting their playing partners or lowering their scores in competition by reducing their second shot distance into the green which in turn increases their chances of hitting it closer to the hole quite significantly. I am happy to discuss or explain in more depth any of this via email or a video call if you want to link up. Rgds, Steve

      @@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance If you look at Bryson's hit fairway statistics, he lost a couple of points "powering it" in 2020 and 2021. So,. it has no correlation to his better ranking and playing. In fact, the hit greens in regulation and putts per round are the only two stats that have improved. So, I guess it is as the saying goes, "drive for show, putt for dough". :-)

    Too many golfers these days with really bad backs Chris, just be careful buddy,I’m 64, been playing since I was 16, I’m also over 6’ tall, and have yet to suffer any back troubles. Longevity in this game rarely accompanies really fast swing speeds.

    • @TheZombieeeeeee
      @TheZombieeeeeee 2 года назад

      It's great that you haven't suffered back troubles at that age especially. Here's to many more years of golfing!
      Unfortunately so many people have back problems now vs back then because of the way society is setup now.
      Majority of golfers I'd say work office or white collared jobs that require many hours of extended sitting.
      The extended hours of sitting at work, in traffic, at home, etc exacerbates the many pre-existing back issues among the average person/golfer today.
      Always gotta take care of your body if you want your body to continue to play this beautiful game.

    At 136 mph the club head at the top of the back swing is all the way down Chris’s back like John Daley ..
    At 122 mph the club is parallel at the top..
    basically the swing is longer at 136 mph & that comes from overcooked wrists at the top of backswing & not from learning a different kind of “weight distribution”
    maybe…….
    I’ve been there (over cocked wrists) & the result is more distance but less accuracy…
    Just saying…

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  2 года назад

      Hey Steven, so much more goes into the equation. If you were driving a car and slammed on the breaks how quickly would you stop? Drive that car 50% faster and hit the breaks at the same point and do you think it would take longer to stop?? If there is more force being generated in the backswing then physics tell us that the backswing will be longer without any intent. Yes id agree that there id a little more wrist cock but is that intentional or a result of more force being generated early in the swing?

    This seems like horrible advice for real golf. Fine for baseball and for long drive, but bad for hitting controlled golf shots.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  2 года назад +1

      I don’t personally agree that this is horrible advice, golfers watching RUclips instruction are wanting to get better, it has been proven that adding speed and hitting the ball longer is a way to do this, not the only way granted but one which many need. Hitting controlled drives 200yds will limit a golfers ability to shoot low,

      You can take the fundamentals here and dial it back for the course. Example the trigger at start of backswing and the push back and up with the lead hip to ensure your center of mass stays behind the ball
