"This is the second time they did this to us"
Personally, if their story is true, I have to wonder why they would go back to that company a second time.
because the company was stupid enough to let them get away with it the first time...
And if they'd used different fake IDs they'd have gotten away with it again...
there is always the chance that after the first time they apologized profusely, gave them the rental for free and gave them a discount on next time. I tend to give people and businesses a second chance if they seem genuinely repentant for their actions. it has bitten me a couple times over the years but i believe everyone has bad days now and then and it shouldnt be the end of everything. however on the second time my forgiveness is gone.
Wondered the same.
Or, why the company rented to them?
This was exactly my thought as well.
Given that a major rental car company (Hertz) recently have admitted that they reported vehicles stolen (and had people actually arrested) when the rentals actually been extended, if I was in the repo business, I'd decline tow business from rental agencies outright. There's a scam here, and it's not necessarily the customer.
He said “Sixt”
@@sharifsalem the news was from hertz. He was giving an example.
To be COMPLETELY HONEST about Tow truck Drivers, 99% of THEM, are RIP OFF ARTISTS, and TOW PEOPLE for things THAT THEY SHOULD NOT, and then charge UNBELIEVABLE PRICES, Just for People to Get Their Vehicles BACK👿
I lived in a Condominium, where the Builder, bought a Tow Truck, since He was the Owner of the Building, and would Tow Vehicles of owners whom parked in the parking Lot, if They didn’t first text and let “them know, we were parking there”
We had underground parking stalls, however, periodically, we would have too move our vehicles, or WE WOULD BE TOWED, and Again be charged???
Then when, it was time too park, They wouldn’t be finished, so the Only place too Park was the parking lot.
Then when Parked There, If You did NOT keep a constant watch, AGAIN THEY WOULD TOW YOUR VEHICLE😩
It was A CONSTANT, TOW TRUCK CHARGE‼️
No matter what You did, it was a Continual CASH COW for Them, It was a HUGE RIP OFF😰
It’s Not like the parking lot was Ever a Problem, or People were Ever worried, or in NEED?
All it was is A CASH COW FOR THE BUILDER, whom was having FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES, and Ultimately went BANKRUPT 💀🤢❌😤‼️
I cannot count how many times in the short 5 years my vehicle was towed, I would say no less than 10 times maybe more, it was Horrendous
The “Manager” a so called “Friend” of mine, used to sit in her suite, and call the Tow Truck, and let Him know whose vehicles too tow🤢

Yea there is something off about even the rental tow in this episode.
Knowing the scams that rentals like Hertz run- taking jobs from them should also take on liability in the event its yet another crime by the shady rental conglomerates.
There are plenty of people who scam the rental car companies too.
Not many operators(very few), would’ve spent so much time trying to allow a leasee resolve an issue the way you two did. I have literally watched like 12 videos today because I’m so amazed at how nice, polite, and helpful you are. Many even those who often don’t deserve the patience and kindness get as much as anyone could muster. Thank you for being kind and calm to so many, I couldn’t do it. You two make a great team!
Seriously understated comment - every other operator would have just left them stranded.
@@tony9146 100%
Nobody in their right mind would have stopped towing a reportedly stolen vehicle if someone was running after them, if they weren't filming for RUclips.
@@sleptiq the likelihood of a unreturned rental being violent is unlikely. And Jeff is much nicer than most, if they have something in the car they need, he lets them retrieve it. The key, it’s secured on the truck at that point.

Having worked for a major car rental company in Canada, scammers are always trying to rent the most expensive car they can without ever planning to return them.
Five Guys Cream Soda 🥤. I'll bet that 's good Jeff 😋🙊
With their credit card and ID on file? 😆 dm car theives then.

It's an x3 it's only 45k
They are not giving you the whole story. Something isn’t right here. I don’t see them being able to rent another vehicle. Glad you have it.
Usually rental companies won't "extend" a contract if they already have another customer scheduled to utilize that vehicle. So they need it back by a certain date otherwise it starts impacting their scheduling for future customers, they have to either cancel their future customers rentals, or try to accommodate using another vehicle, which could cost them money if they can't accommodate the same type/model of vehicle.
@@user-mf3in4pv7h then you've gotten lucky or the rental company you went through isn't regularly busy.
As soon as she said 'this is the second time they do this to us' tells me they are scammers
they hardly hang around a hotel in kentucky if they want to steal the car and sell it in canada. you get the hell out of there quick smart.
Like the old saying, "something's rotten in Denmark". Something just does not sound right in their story. The guy that Kristen was in contact with from rental company sounded pretty emphatic they wanted that car back now. Jeff & Kristen you handled that well considering you weren't sure of the truth. Keep us posted on the final outcome. "We appreciate ya!"
Very strange situation Jeff but you and Kristen handled it like the professional people you are . Be safe
They do handle situations very well!
However, worry about them…
Y’all be safe out there!
Except for telling strangers that something is stolen and didn’t know the whole story yet.
@@heyyall9037 what do you mean ? The hire company told Jeff and Kristen to pick it up as ( most hire companies do ) it has not been returned by the correct date do mark it as stolen. Or telling the couple that the hire company has marked it as stolen. Jeff and Kristen did everything correctly.
@@heyyall9037 technically it was stolen. The company owns the car not the renters. If they are overdue, they have stolen it.
@@heyyall9037 🙄🙄 Never the less he hooked it. "IT WAS STOLEN". GREAT JOB JEFF
A few possibilities: 1) They're lying (but they seem really calm) 2) The rental company needed the car back to cover other commitments (just because you're wiling to pay doesn't mean they have to say 'yes'. 3) They exceeded their credit limit.
Definitely lying. It's easy to tell from how they're trying to say their side of the story. No doubt.
4) They rented from Hertz 🤣
@@jeffcastle235 Or someone who's following their playbook.
Having worked in that crazy industry, I'd say it's probably because the rental company could not reserve more on the credit card.
@@klystron22 Oh yes, definitely lying. Saying they had a extended agreement but couldn't show any proof like an email confirmation.
I’ve rented a ton of vehicles, from big box trucks down to tiny cars. When you rent a car and want to extend the time you have it they will send you a copy of the contract extension to your email. IF they truly had an extension on their contract they’d have a copy of the new contract sent in their email. They are extremely confused, phone agreements on extensions are done with any car rental company, but it’s always documented and emailed to you!
Y’all are true christian examples of charity & kindness. Good job!😊
I rented a rental car once for a company I worked with and had to extend it and they let me extend it over the phone
@@1991kdogg yes but within an hour you’d get a copy of the new agreement in your email. It’s always followed with that & some want you to sign that email copy & return it.
Weird. I have never got a rental agreement copy for an extension until I dropped the car off. Actually called and requested one last week and they said they couldn't send it. And I rent ALOT.
@@joshuanoble5333 they give a copy which must stay with the vehicle along with a receipt. You must toss yours then. LoL
@nanachick05 na I mean on the extension. I called to extend from the 19 to the 30th this past month and enterprise told me they can't give me an updated one until I return the vehicle. Needed to fill out my expenses and had to wait till I returned it
By the end of that interaction I was almost convinced there was an error of some sort. Then you find out the real story. Always enjoy how you guys keep your cool.
As soon as you hear the words "foreign state national ID" you should just assume that everything the person with that ID is saying is a straight up lie.
You all are so compassionate. That one was tricky. A seven day rental with sixteen days over is crazy. I believe there's more to it than we will ever know. Great job guys.
Yes but had they paid a supplement rental fee for the extension? If I was them I would have certainly got in touch with the rental company before the end of the seven days and paid by card to extend the rental. Probably not.
@@hedydd2 companies automatically charge the card for another week when you don't return it on the date ..I'm sure the contract even said how much the charge was for each extra week ..I'm sure the rates were now higher than when they got the car and one of the underpaid employees was flexing their assumed authority what do they care if they leave someone stranded
Compassionate? No. More like dumb and gullible.
It’s actually just good-cop-bad-cop negotiation of the situation. They needed the key and being bad cop isn’t going to do it. Bad cop was the rental car person on the phone.
It was the 18th and their contract ended the 16th so it was only 2 days, they wanted it to be extended which it wasn't.
Rental cars are in short supply. There's a good chance that the car was reserved by someone else based on the original reservation. You can't always extend the reservation. As far as their communication with the renters, the rental agency was likely just trying to avoid raising the renters' suspicion and keep them in place while it was being picked up.
I'm sure the rates for higher between when they got the car and 3 weeks later and the rental company had a contract at a certain rate and the only way to increase that rate was to rent it out on a new.contract..thjs is a huge company they are not that short where they would need a specific bmw SUV for another customer waiting ..SIXX might not be as big as Avis budget but they are not Fox or rent a wreck ..they have plenty of cars available ..unless the credit card would no longer let the car company authorize anymore money that was a shady thing to do . Companies are pretty safe when they have a contract with a person for a rental car if the name matches the credit card
They had the car for over two months beyond their contract. And conveniently find themselves near the border
@@philtripi9937 7 day rental, had it for 23 days. So 16 days over.
Jeff, you are too nice. I would have never stopped!
Scammers are often very convincing people, they suck you in. Everything about what he is saying makes me think it’s some kind of hustle.
Some rental car companies don't allow their rentals to leave the state, if they do thing like this happen...
I've had rentals in the past that are limited to certain areas (NJ, NY, CT, PA for a NJ rental or a rental in NH had 'US only- may not enter Canada').
I am ADDICTED to this channel. I’ve been sick in bed for months and out of work and feeling purposeless lately and I feel like watching this channel helps in some way. Thank you!

10/10 on yalls de-escalation skills. True empathy if Im being honest.
Scammers can lie so convincingly that it's hard not to believe them. They were up to no good.
Yeah, in all of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg or Sevierville area, there are no rental companies. Status with hertz or national gets you luxury cars at full size prices. They just smell like scamming posers.
Couple discrepancies in the first few minutes of interaction with them.
Rental companies ste always in trouble for this
@@doomman700 So what your telling me is an hour away at the airport is too far? I drive 50 minutes away to Louisville Airport to rent a nice car with no thought of it. Plus there are shuttles to Knoxville airport from Gatlinburg. Also Pigeon Forge and Sevierville have car rental which I mentioned. If you just hate criticism of Gatlinburg, say that, I get it. But what was your opinion of the couple?
A BS artist is just that.
They paid for a week, they've been gone for almost a month and they are a long way from Florida. My bullsh-t alarm was going off the whole time. The reason they wanted that specific car was because they had a market for it.
The best indicator of a RWD vs. AWD BMW is the "S drive" on the tailgate. if it were an AWD it would say "X Drive". I appreciate you guys sweating the details instead of just dragging it in the heat of the moment. I hope that info helps you in the future!!
They said they were leaving the next day yet they were packed and ready to go I think they were getting ready to run. Great video guys
Oh *definitely* ready to run!
Tell me something. You are traveling. Do you unload everything out of your vehicle or just what you need. They have security and insurance at these places. I'm not going to take everything out of my vehicle to spend a night. I'm going to hide it the best I can. By the way what idiots steal the clothes you wear from a well lit and cameras everywhere? You are not too damn bright are you?
THE PROBLEM IS THEY SAID THEY WOULD RETURN IT AT ONE DATE AND THEN THEY THINK THEY CAN JUST KEEP IT LONGER WITHOUT CALLING IN EARLY TO SEE IF THEY CAN KEEP IT THE RENTAL COMPANY ALL READY HAD THE CAR BOOKED FOR SOMEONE ELSE
That's my thought, what if the rental company now has 3 pissed off customers that they had to cancel on because this specific vehicle was not available.
this is why when you go to the rental company to pick up the car you reserved, it isn't there. And you wind up with a tiny economy car on a 16-hour drive. lol
@@abbtech are those customers paying more then these people ? They said they were originally promised a different car and got that isn't that what they said ? Can't the rental company give a different car to the others ?
@@Apolloneek These people weren't paying for the car when they took it past the agreement.
And in their tiny little sovcit minds they think that because they are in possession of it that it belongs to them.
And most rental companies spell out where you can take the car. Unless they agree to it beforehand, taking a car from Florida to Canada is almost certainly in violation of the rental agreement.
You are so kind to people. Whether they are lying or not, you gave them the benefit…to avoid confrontation…you are awesome

If this is the second time this has happened . . . that raises several questions. The first being, why not just rent from someone else? That couple was sketchy as heck.
Very impressed, how you two handled this situation with courtesy and professionalism, and an extra dose of empathy.
Driving from Miami to Canada 🇨🇦 No one does that. SCAM!! And probably using stolen credit cards in Piegon Forge. I bet Jeff got multiple calls wanting the car back. Great video Jeff and Kristen 👍👍
Good job as always. Kendra thanks for keeping us along for the ride!
My pleasure!
Whatta repo guy!! Real professional and accommodated the renters without prejudice, spent time listening to their story regardless of personal opinion and known facts before hand. Took a chance with own safety a bit. Very suspicious circumstances, it could’ve turned ugly real fast. I believe the renters are scammers and probably are stealing vehicles, if not that using some kind of identity theft to secure free vehicles for long periods of time. This is definitely a police case.
You folks are so calm and cool. I do believe that there is something VERY SPECIAL about where you folks live and work. I always feel so good when I am down there. Well Done!
This couple wanted to have a nice ride and brag but really didn't have the money for it.
A classic.
🤔Something smells fishy. Somebody doing lots of nervous talking. Why would a company deny paying customers?
"It's my car of course I have the key!" Um, sounds like the rental company's car. BRAVO for handling it professionally.
Have watched several videos now and I am in mild awe of how well Jeff remains so calm and how much it takes to push his buttons when confronted by entitled people who like to blame everyone and everything else rather than take accountability of their own actions. Bravo! You are both also very generous with your time as this video shows. You have a new fan.
We used to get these calls all the time people failing to return the rental when due in Florida when I worked at the PD many years ago. Apparently, it's still a problem.
I told them where is it. That’s more of a question. Didn’t they say that they had trouble with the rental company before? Then why would you go back?
You guys are the best! Having such patience and consideration with people while doing your job - in a world where everybody seems to be loosing it daily - is a remarkable example of kindness. Thanks for sharing and greetings from the south end of Brazil!
My first video of yours and I have to give you serious kudos. I’m from NJ /NY area and our tow truck drivers get a bad rap for doing their jobs (maybe it’s their attitudes). But your demeanor and empathic treatment of those people totally blew me away. You weren’t judgmental as you treated the situation and people with utmost respect, while getting the job done. I’m now a subscriber and if I’m ever in your neck of the woods, I owe you a beer. You just helped to restore my faith in humanity…
Remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day
I’ve extended rental on a car twice. Once after a hurricane destroyed both our vehicles and once when I flew into Nashville and my Father passed. I had no issues either time. They gave me a return date and said if I needed it longer to call as soon as I had an idea how long I would need to keep it. It was 2 different major car rental companies.
Prior to the car shortage the rental lots stayed full. Now it can be difficult to get one, especially if you want a certain model.
I was doing work in Colorado & I had a rental car usually for 4 weeks at a time. 1 of the trips there was an issue on the job site & I was forced to stay for 6 weeks. I contacted the rental car company & let them know I wanted to extend the rental & the person on the call said ok. 2 days later (30th day) the manager of the rental called me & said I needed to return the car today (it was already almost 5pm) & "re-rent" the same car on the same card, or the car will "have" to be listed as stolen. I argued that they could use the same card & just charge me, instead of me having to drive 40 miles to the airport in rush hour traffic, just to do something that could be accomplished over the phone. Well, I ended up driving to them & had to do it in person. It was infuriating. They said it had to do with it becoming a "lease" after 30 days & it no longer being a rental?! Either way it was ridiculous & unnecessary.
Its hard to believe there are folks like that . I've been told I'm to kind and I let people take advantage of me but it takes a low down person to keep a rental car and act like its the rental companies fault. Great video ya'll be safe
Folks like what ?.do you not rent cars ?.when you rent a car there is a contract right on the contract it says estimated return date ..then there is a list of rates if you keep it longer than the estimated date ..usually it's an hour a day a week and a month ..and asl h as you don't have it longer than 60 days and your card keeps letting them authorize it's all on the same contract ..If SIXX charged their card and still reported it stolen that's phoney ..I hear to many horror stories about that company to ever rent from them
Too kind. Not to kind.

They are lucky it was you that showed up. They would have an entirely different problem to solve had the police found them driving a stolen car. They may never realize how fortunate they were that the rental company sent a tow truck to recover the car.
That was one of the best videos and I would bet this is more common than you would think. Jeff has more patience than I would. I rented trucks for several years and sometimes I needed it longer than I thought and I just called the rental company and they extended my rental. After all they had my credit card number so there is more to this story than the renters are telling and what would an Uber back to Florida or Canada cost.

Specialty cars like that are sometimes in high demand and Sixt probably needs it back for other commitments, that’d be my guess. They rented it for a seven day then just decided to keep it long when it wasn’t available. I rent cars weekly, and sometimes those lots are empty meaning they are more than likely sold out. Love the channel.
Jeff, you are so professional. You are always friendly and patient. If you had gotten snotty with this couple, it could have turned south in a hurry.

So strange. You handled with such compassion. They seemed like they sere generally upset but would love to know the whole story. Again, y;all are amazing in how you deal with people!
Hello Ruth!!! Kudos to you and all teachers in TN.
I guess, what I don't understand is why the rental company is so concerned about it going to Canada, unless it's super expensive to retrieve cars from there. Plus, if it headed that way, they should be able to alert the border patrol and have them detained. Of course the story told by the renters is a little sketchy too. Like, if the kept having trouble with this company, why do they keep renting from them, unless no one else will rent them a car. Hmmmm.
Cause Canada is a pipeline for sending stolen cars overseas and trying to recover a car in another country is expensive and often futile.
Cause once a rental vehicle leave US soil heading to Canada border. But I think that most rental company won’t allow take the car out of country. Therefore either you have to rent another vehicle the destination you’re going.
The rental company has to get it back to Miami. They’d much rather it only have to come back 875 miles vs 1,400.
@@hotsoup1001 yea getting it back across the border on a tow truck or even with a hired driver is going to be expensive as hell and possibly a paperwork nightmare especially at the border......plus the way Canada is lately they might just let them keep the car

I work in Rentals. When you set a return date and do not return by that date we will start recovery of the vehicle. And yes we will keep charging you for the rental until it is returned. If you are overdue and do not contact us that will put you in the crosshairs of the Police. I have a vehicle now that was Rented for two day. It is now 15 days over due. Once overdue we will NOT extend and demand the vehicle be returned. I will be reporting it stolen if gone for two more weeks. Then you got a stolen vehicle charge and over $45k in charges for the missing vehicle.
@Sullear Good info and thanks for sharing. This is not car rental companies first rodeo. They have it set up right. You have probably seen all the SCAMS 🙄🙄🤣🤣
Definitely strange. Some people can be very convincing. Almost want to believe them but that many days over due? Totally packed car the night before? But they were nice and calm towards you and not yelling or acting like they were caught red handed? That was a good one like I always say they are three sides to every story. There is each sides story and then there is reality which is something between everyone's story. But all that matters is they ultimately don't own the car.
Jeff is too nice sometimes. Lol I would say get your stuff give me the keys I've got to go. You guys can work it out!
Very likely their credit card was maxed and rental company had maxed out what they could charge on it. The details are actually usually more complicated but they likely lost the ability to charge the credit card.
I have to say that Jeff handled this situation awesomely! Wow! You didn’t have to do any of this. Kudos sir.
Definitely a wild recovery/repo. In that 16 days where have they been and how many other services have been dispatched to recover.
Thanks Team Everything Auto for another very interesting video.
Car rental companies charge different rates for daily\weekly\monthly for INSTATE rentals, there are different rates for daily\weekly\monthly for OUTOFSTATE rentals.
A customer cannot extend a contract after the fact (they are no longer in Florida). The entire contract would have to be recalculated in their Florida office.
I don't recall either of them saying to you at any time you were in contact with them that they had been in possession of the vehicle for 16 days - OVER THE AGREED 7DAY RENTAL. In my opinion, that is a serious omission of relevant information or an equally serious commission of or intent to obfuscate what they were doing and they deliberately tried to hide that fact from you. Either way, you and Kristen handled it like the pros you both are. (Doffs hat) Nice one guys....nice one!
That couple really latched onto the fact that the rental place asked for an ETA. Thinking that somehow was their trump card proving they should get to keep the car.
Likely the company asked that because if they were returning the car that day or something then the company didn’t want to bother with reporting it stolen or repoing it.
However the couple probably wanted to keep it until they were good and ready to return it and the company probably needed it back to rent to someone else
From past experiences you sir handled that very well. Calm, cool and most of all, no pund intended, collectively. Be safe out there. I'm a new subscriber and I'm also a local.
Maybe consider having an emergency snack box kit on board for when you are detained on a job and haven't had a chance to eat anything?? That was quite an unusual repo.
Your professionalism knows no bounds. As always great job well done. My husband wants to know if the wonder bra is an A cup. Lol. We meet you Oct 4 in pigeon forge , gave y'all some candy and glow bracelets. Hope to meet again our next visit. Sheila and Mike
I have dealt with Sixt rental about a dozen times before and some locations were great and some were the absolute worst car rental experiences ever, I could see their shady locations doing something like this. On the other hand she kept the car longer than she was supposed to - oh wait I didn't watch long enough, this is all on the renters.
since arguing is fruitless and you have to know how it's going to end, letting them make their case makes for some great footage 🙂 You do meet some interesting people in your line of work.
Yeah this couple knows they can just record 10-15 minutes of people loosing their minds at a tow truck and it’ll make a great RUclips video. At the same time it does make for better service, as any other operator would have just immediately left them stranded.
You two are the BEST!!! If I am in East TN and have car trouble I pray I call y’all!!!
Wow! They were so convinceing! Tough job!
Their scammers .. the guy is a cock and he has to look like a million dollars while getting repod super close to Canada where their prolly from.. so they can brag about their stuff up there
Everything Auto, you guys are amazing people and I'm glad I finally meet you all in person at Kroger Fuel Center Pigeon Forge! Thank you so much!!
They were very convincing, but you handled it like the professional that you are. 👏

We just finished one up that ended up almost 4 hours away in the backwoods of KY. Tracker was removed and placed on a parked junker.
Kudos to you guys!

You just broke the golden rule by lowering that back down
