WOW! I just learned a very important part of Fusion 360. During this presentation, I thought of lots of times in my previous Fusion 360 use that would have solved some design problems I suffered through. Thank you Lars.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, Carl!
Have an awesome day!
Hi Lars,
I’m a Sketchup user and you have given me the confidence to make the switch to Fusion 360. So much more powerful. Keep up the great videos. They are a huge help.
That is awesome to hear girlsdadx3 .Thank you for watching the videos
Spent the last hour searching for how to properly use offset planes and you're the most concise person I've found, thank you so much. Subbed :)
That is awesome to hear Keket .Thank you for watching the videos
Your killing it. When I search for a topic I need to learn in Fusion you come up and hit the nail on the head. You the man Lars!
That is awesome to hear bigswolejah .Thank you for watching the videos
Thanks a lot for these videos! I've just started with Fusion 360 for my 3D printing stuff coming from other 3D packages like Blender, C4D etc. and I really appreciate your videos! Great stuff!
Thank you for taking the time to watch! Really happy you found them helpful!
Really useful information. I'd been trying to work out how to project a set of embossed text onto a 2nd component from an original. Used a offset plane and projected the detail after this tutorial. Keep up the good work Dude.
This was really handy - seeing how the planes work.
I am learning so much from all your videos. This one really helps me to understand better how to understand planes. Many thanks
Happy 20th Lars! Great beginner tutorial as usual.
Thank you my friend :-)
6:16 straight to the point
That was a good tutorial There are not that many tutorials that really go through planes and axis, even if they are the foundation you need for all the sketching. Very easy to follow video too.l
Thank you 👍😊
Thank you for the video, a lot better understanding now about planes and how to use them. From Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Thanks again for all the videos.
Thanks, Lars. This was helpful. And timely.
Great Fan of you when it comes to CAD and CAM
I keep coming back to this because it is sooo great! Newbie question: I'm building a door which will have a keystone at the top. I created a midplane through the door and want to have a reference point where the plane passes through the door brick mold because I think I'll need that for something.
Very informative Lars. Thank you.
Thank you, Allen!
That was awesome. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Have an awesome.
hi lars
another great video just caught it I'm over in the USA connecticut for my son's wedding.
looking forward to putting some of it in to pra5when I return to the uk
Congratulations on your son. that is so awesome!!!
One of the many bugs with youtube is the notifications getting reset.
Make sure the bell symbol between the 'subscribed' indicator and the subsciber counter is showing 'movement lines' to indicate you're getting notifications. Or just click on it and check your settings.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Paul!
Have an awesome day!
Best,
Lars
another very useful video, will you be coming back and making more?

Solved another problem for me. Thanks!
Great content. Keep it up!
Thank you!
HI lars, perfect THK
thanks sir
i have to have that shirt lars
That shirt is the best.
very helpful
Thank you!
Very useful thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching
I really love listening to you: clear and knowledgeABLE.
So... I'm planning on CNC some shapes into Foamular to form a negative for casting. I'll be using 4' x 8' pieces Foamular laid on top of each other. That's 8" of space to cut into, but I'd like to know exactly when the plane of another piece has been pierced. Obviously if I can change something so I only use one piece, or mainly one piece it would be cheaper.
I was thinking I'd put planes it at every layer in the positive which would represent the Foamular I'd be cutting.
> How would I get the volume of the parts that extend past a plane?
Ignorance is wordy.
I'm not sure I understand the question. Try to post to the forum. Might be someone who has already done this that can help forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360/ct-p/1234
What about offsetting multiple planes? Let's say I want to offset x amount of planes with an x distance in between the planes. Currently, I have to click on a plane, offset and then add a distance and redo this. This gets very redundant! Do you know if this is possible to automate this somehow? I need to offset 200 planes atm :D. Thank you!
Cool T Shirt..!!
Nice video as well.. cheers
This is a very useful beginner lesson
Thank you Jacob Keller
this made me like fusion 200% more
That is awesome to hear Gamma Ray .Thank you for watching the videos
Hats off to you sir
i want that shirt man! :)
your videos are great. I have a strong 2d AutoCAD background (retired high school drafting and woodworking teacher), and have bought a small CNC machine from ShopBOT to help me with my hobby - guitar building. I still can't draw an acoustic guitar neck. It's a complex object when you start to draw it - the neck is tapered in both width and thickness, the head is set at an angle to the main neck and the heel is a complex shape -I'm getting closer but not there yet, maybe you could do one to show how ;-)
Has anyone ever said you look a little like Hervé Villechaize ? try saying - boss, the plane, the plane - you might be too young to get the reference - look up fantasy island
Hi Bob St. Cyr Thank you for watching!
Check out the loft command. That should take you close to what you want in regards the guitar neck.

Hey Lars,
Thanks for the link I'll check it out and keep working. With your videos (and lots of practice) I'm getting there. It's a big jump from 2d AutoCAD with a few years off with no CAD work at all, (retirement is great).
Thank you for mentioning the fifthaxis.com self centering vises. I bought the Openbuilds c-beam CNC machine and am looking for a solution to hold material. I think this might be it. Keep up the good work.
But then I looked at the price🤑
:-) My dad use to say "You get what you pay for"
Dude, Coooooool Shirt !
Lars, I would like to see a review of all snapping capabilities, to plane, to plane intersection, to grid, etc. A construction plane that you cannot snap to is lacking an important function.
Hi Bruce X Thank you for watching!
I would have to do a little research, but that is a great future topic
your the best.
can you please make a tutorial on how to make electrical shaver any kind
Hi Said Daauud Thank you for watching!
You got it. It is on the list
Hi just a quick one , When I click the xy plane initially the screen dose not autorotate what settings needs to be set, please advice I am a new bee in fusion 360
Lars, can you make a sketch snap to a plane intersection?
helpful. thanks. One question, you used the remove command. what is the difference between remove and delete? seems to me that they should be the same, but obviously they are not!
Hi Laurence Schenk Thank you for watching!
Pretty sure it comes down to how the algorithm is working. Delete, could delete entire design where remove only eliminate the selection.
can you mate two axis like in solidworks??? i like your show.
Hi there bud. Thank you so much for videos. They have helped so much. :) what would be the Mac shortcut for rotating without having to use the rotate button? I heard that 'shift' centre click is for PC :) Thanks
Shift is for Mac. You can also use a mouse with a middle mouse button. THat is what I do
I have a stl.file and i open it with Fusion 360 to export it to Inventor file, but the exported file axis have rotate , top / is the not the same.. can you help?
Lars what about planes through spheres and cylinders?
lars is so handsome
thank Christensen
my Question is How do you reset the UCS to reflect what you actual see on the plane?
the X,Y,Z IN THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE LEFT RIGHT TOP?
my email is jolsen2@cogeco.ca
Hi nice time line how to use it!
Hey Lars! Great video as usual. It's strange that Fusion 360 doesn't have the Offset Plane at Point tool. Have you found a decent workaround?
Hi Peter Anthony Martins Thank you for watching!
I might need some more coffee, but not sure exactly what tool you are looking for. The offset plane will as far as I remember snap to a point.
BEst,
Lars
Lars, I started sketching a project and it wasn't until I started extruding some parts that I realized I had started with the Z axis up instead of the Y axis like I normally do. Is it possible to revert my drawing back to the Y axis or do I have to start over? Thanks Lars, videos are great!
Hi Wisco Foxtrot Thank you for watching!
Depending on how far you are into your design. You can right-click the sketch at the bottom and re-define the sketch plane. That is an easy way to change orientation
@@cadcamstuff hi lars, mine doesnt have an option to redefine workplane when i rightclick. pls help
Hi, Lars, very useful video course. One question though: I have made a plane 2 parallel to original XZ plane and all lines on XZ2 plane are blue. I guess some constraints have to be made between planes. How to make them?
I wonder if you are missing a constraint/dimension between the sketch and the origin?
It could be so. I have drawn new plane - and then I have got black lines. But I did not understand what I did differently. How to add missing constraints/ dimensions between the sketch and the origin? @@cadcamstuff

Hope this is useful
hi lars. i hope you are fine. i want to learn sketching from canvas. and also how to get accurate sketch from canvas. as in reverse engineering
Hi huzefa gul education Thank you for watching!
Check out this video. I think this will give you a good idea about using the canvas tools

How to join two lines one in different plane and another one in different plane in 2-D sketch?? Please let me know
Hi ajay reddy Thank you for watching!
I hope this video answer your question:

@@cadcamstuff thank you Mr.lars that has been helpful. I like your tutorials very much, thank you for helping us learn fusion. Thanks for the facts in the starting as well.
8:42 how is he turning camera like that??
right click hold
hey lars, are you a dane ??
where can I purchase that tshirt Lars?
nevermind, I should of just waited before asking =)
Lar, Not sure if you have noticed, but they have now made Fusion 360 only free for one year :-( for hobbiest/enthusiast. 3 for students..... that stinks. I am a disabled Vet and cannot afford this now. I was learning to make parts for my RC mini/micro quads. Is there another program that you recommend that might be free/cheaper? Thanks! PS: LOVE your video instructions!!
As far as I know, you just need to re-register every year on the free license. It is for sure still free after a year.
jst make a new account and you have another free year....

This whole assembly joint situation is crap.
at the beginning 20% of the video is useless. Better go straight to the point.
Click anywhere in video and hes not talking about planes. Rambling like im his mate.
